Looks like the Big Apple Coaster barely made the Hyper Coaster cut. The casino says the coaster is 203 but I’m also seeing a little over 180. Also here in the comments I’m seeing 203 so for right now we will call it Hyper. 😁
@spentron18 ай бұрын
ht. 203', lift 180', 1st drop 76', 2nd drop 144', speed 67 mph. I mostly liked the coaster, main disappointment was it looks BAD up there, though good from the ground.

As far as I know, Desperado has tested off and on during Covid and staff said it was just to keep the maintenance up in case they ever wanted to reopen it(it wouldn't be as bad if it just sat for years). So yeah, it's been mixed messages for sure, but it was caught testing here and there over the years, as it can still test even though it doesn't have the proper permits for public rides. But at this point, no telling what condition it's in, or when it was last tested etc. Seems a waste for that and the log flume to be setting vacant, but the hotel doesn't seem that busy either, so it's probably a cost vs. rewards type deal at the moment. But if the coaster and log ride opened, maybe more people would stop? I've been living in Vegas since 95, and as many times as I've been past the state line, I never got to ride either attraction. So hopefully one day they'll both open and I can give them a go.

Last time I was in Vegas at the casino across the street, I remember seeing a coupon for that coaster 2 people for $10/each, and at the time I thought that was extremely expensive for a single roller coaster ride, to hear it at $25 now, yikes man.

Oh my gosh!! Such a fun video! You and Michael are about the same age as my son and we visited Vegas back towards the end of when they were billing it as a "Family Destination" and building the roller coasters, monorail- and even an outdoor amusement park (which had just closed). We wanted to ride the coaster in NY NY also, but the day we went it was closed. After what I've heard, maybe it's a good thing we didn't ride! 😅

Buffalo Bills theme-ing still holds up till this day. Really wish they would bring new life into the rides. But these were made back in the day when they were trying to push Vegas as a family friendly place. Sadly, Primm Nevada doesn't get much visitors these days compared to the earlier 90s/2000s. Most people go straight to Vegas now. Desperado was my first ever coaster and got me over the fear of thrill rides. Hopefully it re-opens someday.
@MT-jd8pc8 ай бұрын
Primm/state line has always been weird to me for a few reasons: 1: the absolute state of both casinos is horrible just from the outside 2: while I haven’t entered the building in a few years the mall is apparently abandoned 3: the near rundown liquor store in the corner of the buffalo bill casino and mall parking lots is within the California state boarder 4: the whiskey Pete hotel and casino houses THE REAL Bonnie and Clyde death car on display in the casino
@princesskristan8 ай бұрын
I got to see the car and other stuff the first time I went to Vegas, and I thought it was cool as a history fan. But yeah, Whiskey Pete's was pretty rundown, and I ate at the IHOP there, and it was decent

Dylan, did you ever go to the old amusement park at MGM Grand? It had a Wizard of Oz theme. I never went but did check it out. Sad face! 😔 Apparently it had a coaster and river raft ride! I’ve been to the Circus Circus amusement park though. I am still very sad that the Mindbender up in Canada is gone!! I went on it once years ago and it was crazy intense.
@HHNZombie8 ай бұрын
The MGM Grand Theme Park was very cool. I went several times, before they cut it down to a small version. An indoor coaster, mine train ride, very good log ride, their version of jungle cruise, terrible motion simulator, sea lion show, and theater show with performers under black lights. Defunctland has a really good video of much of the park. My favorite visits were Halloween, when they turned it into MGM Scream Park. They had four houses, live massive pumpkin carving with chainsaws, lots of scare zones, even weddings in hearses. Houses were no slouches, on par with old Knotts houses. They only did the scare park for a couple of years. This was back in the days when they had the Oz display in the main casino. The theme park slowly was decimated, and finally closed to make way for more hotel rooms…

That table & chair boneyard is definitely where the Drop Tower used to be. That was my first S&S. I also liked Desperado, but it was really rough and tumble. I doubt it will ever run again, but it begs the question of why is it still standing? Same for the other attractions. $25 for one ride on Manhatta.... er, um, The Big Apple coaster. That's an easy pass for me, I can just rely on my memories of it.

The desperado thing is pretty interesting because you would think they would take it apart and sell the parts off for extra cash. So a part of me thinks they might try and refurbish it to get it back open.
@brainwash4804 ай бұрын
Think about how much of a pain in the ass it'd be to actually remove desperado. Like I honestly dont know how they'd get those indoor track pieces out without major construction. Then, on top of that, even if they did remove it, that'd just make the hotel/casino feel even more empty. Not saying it's a good excuse, but at least right now, buffalo bills can say "we have a ride, and it looks pretty but it's not operational" vs "look how empty it is in here".

If they build a resort / hotel at the *Alien Jerky Shop* in Bakker, they better make sure that the Air Conditioner is fully running, as everyone knows Bakker gets pretty hot. $25.00 a ride o Desperado , that's pretty expensive; probably no On Ride Photo either (I never rode it). BTW is the *Primadona* still there at the state line. Years ago my dad and I went there and wanted to play some Poker. My dad did not know that I knew how to play, so he went one way and I went to the Poker tables. I started with $40.00 and left the table with almost $500.00.🎰♠♦♣♥🎰

I almost went on that ride when I was in Vegas back in 2005, but my parents didn't think the price for one ride on it (whatever it was) wasn't worth it. That's okay though as I was only nine years old at the time and I was still getting over my fear of rides that went upside down so I wasn't really brave enough to ride it personally. Besides, that was before it got those trains from Premier Rides, so it probably would've been a much rougher experience than it is today.
