Very cool interview, Pea! Wow, there was a LOT unexpected here. To start with, I never even thought of the concept of a 100% Filipino, born and raised in the United States, who then moved permanently or semi-permanently to the Philippines. I have had some very good friends that were 100% Filipino, that were born and raised in the U.S., but they were just like Evan, knowing nothing about the Philippines and they certainly never seriously thought about going back there to live. One of them, aged around 22-26 when I knew her, ended up buying a BMW after getting a fairly high paying job on the West Coast. So, yeah, she was fully Westernized. To me the fact they were Filipino meant nothing, because they seemed like typical Americans, no different than myself, and they were not different. The next unexpected thing was Evan saying his true age is 19. That was a shocker. I was thinking 27 or 28 and I even saw another comment saying 28, so it's not just me. I think it's the level of easy tactfulness, intelligence and maturity he demonstrated. He is officially "Gen Z" and that gives me hope. So many in that category are wayyyy off, in terms of desirable characteristics when it comes to behavior or attitude. We need quality people, especially youth, like Evan to remain in the U.S., so it doesn't completely go downhill! I also love the concept of Evan = Pea, just opposite. Very cool description. The last thing I'd say is that guy is like designing a "dream guy" Terminator. He is clearly good looking, but he has the appeal of being a knowledgeable, educated "foreigner" to locals, while at the same time being native to the land in terms of heritage/belonging. So that means (I guess) that he is allowed own land (?) and start businesses etc. with all the welcome of any other Filipino, right? The way things work in the U.S., we have birthright citizenship, which means if a U.S. citizen has a child that is born outside the U.S. that child is still a full U.S. citizen. I'm guessing something like that is true with the Philippines. And Evan is not yet in his strongest years for male desirability, since he is only just starting to obtain a lot of valuable wisdom and (I'd guess) valuable resources. Success on KZbin can of course help in that department. I wish him the best of success!

Pea, me being a retired business owner I'm always impressed with how well you treat the competition. Here in the U.S. it is a dog eat dog competitive attitude or the big fish eat the little fish. It took me about two decades to realize it's better to get along and be a friend to the competition. Evan may be only nineteen but mature for his age and obviously a product of good parenting. I know guys who are thirty nine and act nineteen so maturity depends on the person not the age so much. The older one gets the wiser they become, not necessarily more mature. BTW I have wondered about your shoe falling off. lol

Not having ice cold fresh milk in the Philippines was my #1 food item I missed when staying in Manila. I finally found fresh milk at S&R (Costco) but priced $6-$8 a gallon compared to $1.99-$2,49/gallon in Indiana. It is shipped in from California and tastes like home. You must consume it within 7-10 days which is no problem. My Asawa always has fresh milk and Pepsi (which is not always easy to find) for me when I arrive in our home in Parañaque.

@@TheFilipinaPeaI don’t want to sound mean but that 6-month shelf life stuff they call milk is enough to gag a maggot on a gut wagon! Another American observation on pizza in the Philippines is you guys still have Shakey’s Pizza!! Most Shakey’s here in the MidWest all disappeared back in the 80’s. Shakey’s are all over the place in the Philippines and their Pizza & Chicken tastes just like I remember! My Asawa and Filipino family loves Hawaiian Pizza, it’s their favorite! My favorite is the all meat pizza. I thought all Filipinos love pineapple on their pizza?

last time i was in manila i was looking all over SM for fresh milk and never found any. i ended up grabbing the UHT stuff from the shelf. i dont drink UHT milk at home since i have access to fresh milk, but its really not that bad. come to think of it, guess that also explains why everywhere i went used sachets of "creamer" powder to mix in coffee instead of milk? never made that connection before.

@@jonestraloma that’s you, and not everyone is the same. But when someone speaks to a Filipino looking guy in Tagalog and he can’t respond or only responds in English, I can see how others look at him as cocky, arrogant person. He articulates himself very well and projects himself with such clarity, maturity and wisdom, way beyond his mere 19 years of living on planet earth. Would love to see and hear his outlook on life as a 50 year old. What is BGC by the way? Pea, when are you coming to the UK and Europe, I kind of feel your strong affiliation with the USA, but I would really love it you could see and experience another side of the west too.

Well I used to live in the UK, but I’m not sure when I’ll be able to come back 😢 BGC is Bonifacio Global City, within metro Manila 😊

Your content and TSE is contrasting. Most foreigners don't even realize that living in any island in the Philippines is almost similar to living in another country. The language changes and there are some cultural nuances one has to adjust to and not to mention, seeing family and loved ones is at least a day trip as you have to use ferry transportation which is what most Filipinos do. This is why Filipino content cannot be monopolized by one vlogger. Thanks Ms. Pea!

The shoe drop at the end was great. Evan is mature beyond his age. He is also very well-spoken.

My wife and I have a place in a city in the north. Once retirement hits for us though, we will be living in Philippines for about 4 months. We just got back this past July looking for another property. Found a condo in Baguio. Absolutely loved Baguio. Beautiful city, and the climate is a lot more tolerable.

I've been one of Evan's subs since the early days. Great channel. Good information. I'm really proud of what he's accomplished as a young man. He's got a great future ahead of him.

Hey Pea I enjoyed the interview with Evan. I grew up Catholic on the Gulf Coast of the US. My church had several Military families. I grew up with three Filipino families. All of the children did not speak Tagalog except the parents (were in the Navy). Except for looking Filipino (both parents Filipino), you would think of them as a typical American. We never thought anything about it. I think I know more about the Philippines than they do now LoL. Well I will be in the Philippines for Christmas and New year's and I can't wait. I will be in Manila and Cebu. I have my sister in law's family to meet in Manila. Much love Jairus
