I didn't hear any "Oh my days", so this is a miss for me. I can get a massive, beautifully cooked and presented Sunday lunch at one of our top pubs for less than £19: and a pint of good beer to go with it costs less that £5. I know what I would rather have. Cheers Danny, another good review.

That was funny with the young guy bringing out the old school camera to take a photograph. I don't think I have ever seen anyone nowadays with one. Chad hogan was a made up name by scottish comedian Kevin bridges. A guy in America called chad hogan invited Kevin over to America to a party. Kevin accepted the invite and went. Then on one of Kevin's big shows, chad hogan came to Scotland and did a wrap on stage.... It was a great turn of events

The yellow box is an old police box where they kept a phone before the radios were top notch. They were painted blue, and they could keep you prisoner in there it's made of cast iron like the Titanic. Dr Who has one and he calls it the TARDIS.

Bread meats Bread used to be incredible when it first opened, proper 9/10 every time I visited, especially the Lothian Wolf burger and Maple Sweet Potato fries. Unfortunately my last 3 visits the burgers have been just average, 7/10. It used to be my favorite so I hope they look to improve back to their best.

We went to the Bread Meats Bread on North Bridge years ago and it was excellent, prices were fairly good back then for a sit-in experience and the portion sizes decent, we all came away chuffed with the experience despite being tight Yorkshire-folk like your good self. Then a few years later we stayed across the road from the one you visited here and were keen for a repeat but the reviews painted a totally different picture, it was never that busy either whereas the one on North Bridge had queues outside. Sadly I think the old cost of living lark has caused them to cut back on what they used to do so well which is a massive shame as it was right up there with the best. I'd have been pretty miffed if I'd paid what you did for what I received, it's sad to see, especially with two decent places in view across the road and a few others on the same street. Hopefully they return to form and get their reputation back at some point soon. Still better value than the Funky Indian in Pudsey that time though :)

Having been in the restaurant business you learn that menu prices have little to do with expenses and more to do with the owner collecting extra money to fund his next 2-3 locations. They don't need the extra couple of dollars/pounds but their bank wants them to collect that to be worthy of a loan for the new location. Hence you get $18 Big Mac meals because the owner is financing new locations. They blame it on wages of course but then they suddenly open several $3 million locations as if by magic.

The price has nothing to do with it being in Edinburgh. This is a Glasgow born chain of restaurants and the prices are the same there. Never thought about it before but £19 is pretty steep to be fair. The place in Glasgow city centre is always packed and you often need to wait for a table so they must be doing something right. Anyone saying the food is bad needs to give their head a shake!

Danny Edinburgh has always been crazy prices! Im from Fife, quite close to where you were in Kirkcaldy at the chinese (Rebeccas) & it just gets worse every year, especially for the fringe. Everything is doubled...im in my 60s & both my neices were at school in Edinburgh, so i spent quite a bit of time there, on the outskirts, & that wasn't too bad but the minute you come into the city centre its unbelievable...my son & girlfriend were at bread eats bread not so long ago & his burger was quite greasy, he was disappointed, as he said the burger tasted nice but he couldn't eat it 😢...hope you weren't too cold when you were here 🙈😂

Yeah, where I live locally, like within 25 miles at least and on South coast, there are gourmet burger bars that charge tops £17 but more commonly an excellent burger for £7-£12 elsewhere... I recently tried Popeye's in Brighton for first time and don't think I'll be having any burgers anytime soon before another set of chicken tenders with buffalo sauce anytime soon. Their chips are amazing too!

I just figured out what £19 equals in Canadian dollars and I fell out of my chair. It would cost me $32 in my own money. Americans would pay $24. Australians would pay $36! THATS MENTAL. Beef chuck is super cheap, and pork shoulder is even cheaper. Not to mention, burgers are so easy to make, and it's hard to mess up. This video could be used in court as evidence of a robbery!!!

I agree most City Capital restaurants/take outs are going to overcharge because of tourism but you can have a cafe or pub meal in Edinburgh for £7-£12. Awww I thought you were in glasgow, Edinburgh is just as good, though. I have a bestie that lives there and my cousin communtes to uni there. Expensive, roads are a mess but apart from that, it's lovely in Edinburgh. I am sure Glasgow is where the 1st location was born. They did poutine and amazing burgers and all sorts of other things. Yeah, I just got to the potholes part, and I didn't even mean those when saying Edinburgh roads are a mess haha (glasgows roads are all grid design, Edinburgh is a winding maze. But the potholes are terrible all over scotland they don't give a toss about people's cars, good luck getting compensation from broken bars or even a burst tyre from the local authorities, though 💜

This is why its so hard for small restaurants. If they want to get relatively quality ingredients but cant benefit from economies of scale, they are going to end up with razor tight margins. Couple that with rent costs and thats how they end up with a twenty quid burger. They'd be better off with a burger van and getting slightly cheaper ingredients so as to be able to drop prices to a reasonable amount

The BMB originates from Glasgow and the prices are the same , so it's not over priced because it's in Edinburgh those are the usual prices . The First store was opened by 2 brothers in Glasgow in 2012 and now there are 7 stores in Scotland , 4 in Glasgow & 3 in Edinburgh .

I have lived in Edinburgh all my life there was a cafe called quick and plenty a wee cafe that is disappearing from high street to be replaced by those expensive cafes it was the most cheapest cafe in hole of Edinburgh run by 2 older lady’s for the working man its next to king’s theatre men can’t afford to eat out specially in Edinburgh as prices are to high even fish and chips is £12
