Trouble with Wimpy's is they are all franchised, so some of them buy in cheap burgers and sell them as Wimpy's own brand. How do I know this, because I worked as a driver for a meat company that supplied local Wimpy's. They insisted that when you delivered to them it always had to be an unmarked van/lorry so nobody knew who supplied them. Those prices are disgusting for the crap they are selling. 😒😒

So disappointed to see this. I too loved Wimpy as a child, and while they've closed a lot of stores, i found one a few months back and jumped at the chance. While the prices were expensive, as everything is these days, the quality was just as i remembered it! Absolutely amazing, i can only assume the franchisee of the branch you went too doesn't really care.

Me too. I’m 60, and when was a teenager Wimpy was the place to go. Their burgers were delicious then. A hamburger with grilled onions and ketchup was such a great.

Absolutely agree. I'm 42 years old. Me and my 2 kids had never tried a wimpy so we went to our local one in Felixstowe. I thought it was going to be like macdonalds. Standard burger meals about £6 per person. We each had a burger meal Inc drink and fries and we also had a desert (waffle and ice cream) we all said the food was below average taste and I paid £60, 10 pence. I nearly passed out at the cash register. At 42 y/o I had my 1st wimpy and I will never again.

Wimpy where I live actually does very well, it been owned by the same family for over 50 years. Burger King and McDonald’s on the other hand came and went. As these are franchises and separately owned and not by Wimpy I guess this one is obviously doing it on the cheap but the one we have is actually quite nice, so each one is different

While I was in London in 1972 as a college student I ate at Wimpy's. It was amazing to see that it is still in business. In the US quite a few fast food franchises have closed through the years. 🇺🇸❤️🇬🇧

A delivery from my local Wimpy can easily set you back £22.00 for a double quarter pounder meal with a milkshake. It's £25.00 for the triple quarter pounder. Very interesting about Wimpy, I grew up with Wimpy as a person in his 50s and I remember they had a very distinctive taste. They were always expensive and very small and the burger on a toasted bun was very similar to little chef. It's interesting to hear that they sound nothing like how they used to be. They definitely had a very distinctive taste which was good to my memory

Now then, when I was 16/17 years old I used to have to go to the Yorkshire bank in Oldham on Friday to get my YTS money out in full. Then I would treat myself to a Wimpy Quarter Pounder with Cheese then off to the local arcade to spend a quid on the games. From memory, and I could be wrong here as this was over 30 years ago, the Quarter pounder came on a brown bun, with no lettuce or any other greenery. Just bun, meat, cheese, maybe a bit of onion and ketchup and it was fantastic. Seeing what you have had from that Wimpy in Huddersfield just shows how the mighty have fallen. I can remember in the 70's a wimpy burger was a plain piece of meat in a bun. The luxury burger had onion! They got better because the Golden Arches came in but it looks as though they are on a slide now. Living in Oz we know what a burger should be , meat, lettuce, tomato, cheese, egg, beetroot, bacon, onion, sauce and mayo. Pineapple for that added luxury.

Danny, have you ever tried Five Guys? The milkshakes are to die for, and the burgers and fries....no words. Have as many toppings as you want for nothing and all freshly prepared. Pricey but quality. Get crispy maple bacon pieces in the milkshake......sounds weird, but absolutely lovely, crunchy AND delicious! I went on my birthday. My recommendation? An "All The Way" burger (choose your toppings, there's loads), crispy Cajun fries, and a peanut and chocolate milkshake with maple bacon bits. You won't regret it. Hope to see you out and about 👍

Wimpey used to be the best back in the 80's. Before burger king, it was the premium to McDonalds. I still miss that burger sauce. Once the started closing branches, I knew it would cheapen it's products and Danny, you have proved that. Thank you. We were going to go back for that nostalgic experience, but what you showed was nothing near what Wimpey used to serve. Shame.
