He is just a jokester who just like to have fun. But is actually kind hearted. He just looks scary to some people, especially some kids. That's why. In all honesty he should not be considered s villain. Love the Cheshire cat

There is also indeed another Disney Cheshire Cat that not many people know about and that's from the 1992-1995 series called "Adventures in Wonderland". The Cheshire Cat in that series is mostly mischievous but like everyone else in the series, he's not really considered a villain (All the residents in Wonderland in this version are friends to Alice, even the Queen who isn't a villain either, she's just spoiled with a temper.). However, the Cheshire Cat in the series can be a jerk sometimes that may play a prank for the fun of it or even out of payback since he's not always welcomed by the other residents. The only ones that mainly respect him are Alice and the Tweedles.

The long and short of it is that specifically the Pink and Purple one (the version that Disney seems to consider as a villain) is as we would say, a Shit Stirrer, he lead allice to the queen knowing what she is like, then sabotaged the game of croquet to get the queen railed up and unleash her wrath on Alice, then they stir the pot more in the court room until it boiled over. The Grey ones is just a straight up hero Still love both Cheshire cats ;p one maybe an ass but so are actual cats is just instead of pushing ur drink off the side they get you in trouble with royalty ;p

In my opinion I believe the Cheshire cat isn't evil or necessarily good I think he's a good example of a character who doesn't pick sides he is a character that mingles in the middle though he could be help to either side he doesn't or at least doesn't help in all the categories he could at least that's my take

As many have pointed out, the Cheshire Cat is pretty Chaotic Neutral most times. Though in the animated movie he did have one instance where he went full villain on Alice and deliberately got her in trouble with the Queen, who of course demanded Alice's head and this led to the trial sequence. That was Cheshire's fault. Cheshire: "You know, we could make her _really_ angry... shall we try?" Alice: "Oh no! Please no!" Cheshire: "Oh, but it's loads of fun..." (hooks the crochet mallet to lift up the Queen's dress, then disappears) Yeah, I'd say he can check off the villain box pretty easily. He may not be a dangerous villain, he just thrives on the chaos.

I’d say the villain aspect goes more towards the 1951 version exclusively, as it’s not his nature or mannerisms that make him a villain it’s his actions, after directing Alice to the queen of hearts he ends up causing the queen to lose her temper leaving Alice to take the blame, then in the courtroom scene Cheshire causes a disturbance by freaking the dormouse out then when Alice shrinks after calling the Queen a ‘fat, pompous, bad tempered old tyrant’ Cheshire repeats what Alice called her causing the queen to yell ‘Off with her head’

They call him a villain because society (and by extension its institutions) villify thinking differently, abstractly, against the norm, and most of all they villify being more intelligent than most, because that threatens the very fabric of what they are trying to create. It is not random. There is a reason they would call him a villain, its called subliminal propaganda

I think since every video you showed from the park had the hand drawn Cheshire cat as opposed to the CGI Cheshire cat they don’t seem to consider Tim Burton's cat as a villain however the Hand drawn cat does take his jokes too far to the point of nearly getting Alice’s head chopped off. It’s the fact that he indeed does know the inner workings of wonderland and treats Alice like a play thing for him to trick and frame for his own fun even at her expense. While not a villain in the traditional sense I can see how he counts as a villain. Generally characters that chaotic who only seem to get the main character into trouble knowingly would count as a villain.

What about his role in the Disney Jr show Alice's Wonderland Bakery since they heavenly tone down his mischievous personality and gave him his book personality to which he is mainly a hero in and helps Alice's great great granddaughter in various tasks to recipes in Alice's bakery

In 2D classic animation, Alice was sent to court / trial & nearly got her head off by the Queen of Hearts because of Cheshire's pranks. That makes him the bad guy. 🙄

It's 'The Bloody Red Queen' mad hatters quote buy he says it quite quickly thus it can be hard to hear. Also if the theory that Wonderland is in Alice's head rings true it is possible Ches is Alice's subconscious hence being aware of things he otherwise wouldn't.
