Rae-Michelle L I understand what you’re saying but I think applying the term “afflict the comfortable” to Jesus is not quite right as he didn’t cause people to be afflicted with pain or suffering from a mental or physical impairment. LOL Jesus didn’t come in to the world to save the righteous but the unrighteous. Rather, he came to bring healing and salvation to the afflicted (which is all of us). And he came to convict the comfortable that they might see the truth.

Paul Heberling Paul Heberling I think your misinterpreting the actual context of these verses. In Exodus 4:11, Moses is telling God that he lacks eloquent speech and is not a good speaker for what God is asking of him to do. Gods response to him explains that He can use anyone regardless of their weakness or disability because He is God. So, God wasn’t giving Moses a fatalistic response that He created these things on to man. But that He could use man with these afflictions. “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?” In the Blue Letter Commentary, “this is a dramatic statement revealing the sovereignty of God, and God revealed it in the context of an invitation to trust God and to work with Him. There is not the slightest sense of fatalism in this declaration of God’s sovereignty. It is never “God is so mighty we can’t do anything,” but it is always “God is so mighty, He can work through us if we make ourselves available.” Makes the mute, the deaf…the blind: Some think this is cruel of God. Nevertheless the point here was not to analyze the origin of evil, but to show that God is so mighty that He can even call the mute, deaf, and blind to do His work. Moses’ perceived inadequacies didn’t matter at all. If Moses was a poor speaker, was this news to God? Does God have trouble keeping track of who is deaf, who is blind, and who is mute? Does Moses really think God made a mistake here? If Moses was a poor speaker, it didn’t matter - the mighty God said, “I will be with your mouth and teach you what you shall say.” By extension, God is sufficient for us, no matter what real or imagined inadequacies we have.” In John 9 Jesus wasn’t saying that sin was what created the illness nor God himself. But, Jesus healed many in order to open the eyes of the lost so that they will seek Him to be saved. It wasn’t God nor Jesus who created the affliction in order to bring the lost to Him. It was through the healing of the afflicted. Again, I read what the Blue Letter Commentary gave and have to agree with it. In it the commentator wrote, “Who did sin? Jesus answered, Neither this man, nor his parents (Jhn 9:3): Now, I believe at this point the translators made a mistake in punctuation. And I think instead of a colon here they should have put a period. I think that Jesus answered their question, period. "Neither of them." That's the answer. And I think then He goes on in making a statement that is not really related to the question. The question is, "Who did sin, the man or the parents that he was born blind?" Jesus said, "Neither the man nor his parents." But that the works of God should be made manifest in him. I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night is coming when no man can work (Jhn 9:3-4). Jesus passed off the question saying, "Neither of them, but I must do the work of My Father and in order that I might do the work of the Father that sent Me." He went ahead and healed the man, to do the works of the Father, but His answer to the question was neither. Now, I do not believe that it is proper to interpret this that God allowed this man this period of blindness just in order that Christ might do a work in him. In other words, that it was all preset by God in that sense that he was born blind in order that God might do a work of healing him. I think that is the wrong interpretation and that interpretation comes by the colon instead of a period. In the Greek text there are no punctuation marks. This the translators did in order to try to give us an understanding. And at this point, I would prefer to put a period after Jesus said, "Neither this man nor his parents" period. And then bringing in a new idea, "But that the works of God should be made manifest in him, I must work the works of the Father." "In order that God's works might be manifested, I've gotta do the work of the Father for as long as I am in this world, you know, the night is coming, but while I'm here, I'm the light." While I am in the world, I am the light of the world. And when he have thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay (Jhn 9:5-6).” So, many people get confused with these verses due to reading it out of context along with a likely translation issue in the latter scripture passage.

It’s not surprising to hear objections like this, but “Get used to different” is inseparable from: “Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. If Jesus walked into our Sunday morning gatherings, would it not be disruptive? When the Lord healed the demoniac in the Decapolis the locals came out to see the clamor....and asked Him to leave. The Incarnation was the most disruptive event in all human history. And we should rejoice in God's initiative. Dallas, these stories are worth telling.
@wizardnetwork4 жыл бұрын
I Agree 100 Percent... If Jesus didn't have a reason to be disruptive, he would not have needed to make a showing to begin with, because it would mean were were perfect already, and not in need of saving. Obviously though, we are not perfect, it's something we have to strive for, and being human, we'll never get to 100 percent, until the day the Lord makes us 100 percent when we meet him after we leave this world. I tend to agree, that once we're "Comfortable" just mean's we're not looking deep enough into who we should be trying to be. #BingeJesus, and #GetusedToDifferent -- www.thechosen.tv/app

Hi Dallas, my reaction to the final scene was quite the same as the woman who wrote her objections on fb -at first. However as I thought more about this presentation of the 'kick-butt' stride, I realized this was a true characterization of Yeshua. He was meek, not weak. He was in command of everything situation. He was strong and full of authority. Yet, He did not display this in haughty fashion. This scene was not haughty but a walk of triumph by Yeshua and His disciples which expressed a faith-building spiritual reality. Your series is anointed. I was Mary Magdalene at one time. (I watched her deliverance scene about 10 times. It so moved me) but I had more like 50 demons. Jesus is forever my Hero! Thank you and thank you to all who made this series possible.

There are many people that in Jesus's time, and even now, thought of and think of Jesus as trouble. I found it appropriate since so many viewed Jesus as a trouble maker and not our Lord and Savior. He came to set people free and that was not popular and he made no apologies for who he was or how he acted! I also feel that if I am made in his image and I love humor, then that has to be part of him or It would not be part of me. I love and respect our Lord, I spend quiet time to praise and honor him. It was God that chose to send Jesus in human form. He did that on purpose so that we can relate to him and him to us. The occasional joke is very different than making this into a comedy. I feel you are being tasteful, but that is just my humble opinion.

I'm with you on that Trish Drum... The comedy, and humor in the show has never, in my mind, been over the top, or unbelievable... Yes, he was God, but he was also human. and in order to be human, he had to have our emotions, and laughter, and humor are a part of being human... why would we expect that he didn't have those things. I've been reading the bible of and on through out my almost 60 years.. And I have to say, that Since I first saw "The Shepherd" around Christmas of 2018, I have never felt closer to Who and What Jesus was about. It's not just The show, but how the show made me feel, and what it made me do. Which was to dig deeper, and try to put myself in His Shoes... Only by doing that can we even begin to understand who he is, and why he came... I'm not Perfect, but I can attempt to get there.. and since I found "The Chosen" I have understood that, probably better than I ever have... Thank you Dallas and the Cast and Crew of "The Chosen" for all you do.. I know I've said it before, but brace yourselves, I'll continue to say it over and over until you're tired of it.. and prolly after that too.. -grin- Keep up the great work. #BingeJesus...

@Paul Heberling I am quite comfortable in my relationship with my Lord Jesus Christ. Are you trying to have a debate in order to SAVE me?? Or just to debate for your online image? I don't care about Man's wisdom or opinions only about God's word and what the Holy Spirit teaches me. I compare spiritual things with spiritual things but the Natural Man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God for they are foolishness to him, nor can he know them because they are spiritually discerned. Well said Dallas, great video. Disappointed with some of the negative comments below. How can anyone, who has watched Season 1, go against it now is beyond me?? Jesus please open their eyes and ears again, I pray that they will come back. I believe that The Chosen is a MIRACULOUS production, to the extent that miracles will happen within ourselves, our families and our communities as our Brothers and Sisters in Christ continue to 'follow Him' through this online medium, which I also believe that God has chosen to use. I pray especially for all those who have fallen away, some whom have completely turned their back on Christ, will come to know about the existence of this programme and, if we can, that we could encourage them to watch Episode 1 and I know in my heart of hearts and within my Spirit, that God will do the rest. Like Dallas, we need to provide all our Brothers and Sisters with the loaves and the fishes. They will be moved and they will come back to our Awesome God and His Beloved Son. Jesus. Quite honestly, for me, that song made that episode as a beginning to/look forward to Season 2. I get what people are saying, but as the tee shirt says, "get used to different." I believe we NEED to get uncomfortable because outside of The Passion, most movies/shows on the life of Jesus are very Hallmark-y. Everything that people are complaining about are actually the parts I love most. And it's because it makes me stop for a moment and remember we need to talk about it all! This includes cultural parts that may not be included in the bible. That last song in Season 1 shows that Jesus WAS considered trouble to many people, and when you bring those apostles into the fray and their own backstories, trouble is coming. That's why I love this song! In the end, I cannot market this show enough. I wear my hoodie every day and talk to at least 5-10 people a day about the show. Would love to work on it one day! You're making things happen, Dallas! You are bringing our King to the front burner!!!! #getusedtodifferent #timetogetuncomfortable #bingeJesus

Yesss! The Chosen has made me realise my knowledge of scripture is so not enough. I used to question whether certain scenes were there in the Bible and yes! It made me understand the characters more deeply! Made me excited about scripture like Never Before! 😀

@Dallas Jenkins The episodes really did happen they are expanding on it more but Mary was healed by Jesus. The religious leaders were alled upon to deal with demon possessed people. Jesus did heal aoerson who was leopard, and the paraletic man, he did heal Peter's mother-in-law. He did call Mathew the tax collector who was hated and despised. Jesus did go to Samaria and spoke to the women at the well. Nicodemus did come to see Jesus in secret. Jesus did call his twelve desciples. Jesus did allow the children to come to him and talk to him. Jesus did turn water to wine and other scenes.They have expanded which really does open their lives to us even more but chosen is based on Jesus ministry.

Thank you Dallas, For those of us that get a bit uncomfortable with things we are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with the saying, "Get used to different." is good to remember - After all it is a translation (of sorts) from Revelation 21:5 Where Jesus said, :Behold I make all things new." As for the Kick-A-- music at the end "Trouble" - I don't know if Jesus sang it to the disciples, but in John 16:33 He did say, "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. IN this world you will have TROUBLE. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Please just keep doing with the show what God directs you, the crew and actors to do!

The music is perfect. It has fit every scene appropriately. Jesus came to stir things up and successfully came to do exactly what he did. I sometimes think people complain about things JUST TO COMPLAIN, half empty, and that's not Jesus... Jesus is a half full kind of guy!

It is amazing to see other believers criticize what you are trying to do because of their traditions. Same with the pharisees in Jesus's day. I can't thank you enough Dallas for this show. I have shared this with a dozen people now and praying it will become a great success. I think it will reach people for Christ and I hope show believers just how human Christ was. We become dull of hearing when we read black and white words on a page after awhile. We need a little shaking up. Praise to God for what He is doing.

Tradition? Is the Bible tradition? Is God tradition? Just because the world is evolving does not mean God evolves too nor His Word. You can't try to modernize the Word of God and think it's tradition. The word of God is not religion that has revolved or keeps revolving. It's the unchanging word of God. So if you've evolved as a result of being on Earth, the word has remained constant just as it was from time it was written.

I absolutely love the chosen. I am simply hoping it will still be going on when He returns for His bride. This show has helped me in so many ways. I have cried laughed and especially developed more of an attitude of gratitude watching. My favorite scene so far is when Jesus has spent hours and hours healing and the disciples have been arguing. When He is walking to His tent and says I am so tired. It brings tears to my eyes everytime I watch it. I am so thankful He lived a real life on this earth for me. Thank you Dallas. You are helping to feed the 5000 with bread from our Father.

I loved all of it! Cried through so much of it BECAUSE it really brought home that he WAS a man. I have always loved and respected our Lord, but to really come to realize that Jesus was a man who experienced the same things in the same way we experience them. It brought him to life for me and I really felt for him which brought a more realistic love for him.

I love your view point! I've noticed over five decades, that people who become, what they assume perfect with a lot of rules and pious attitude, cause a lot of heartache and pain for the lost and confused. Jesus was not sent to teach us that behavior. His come follow me actions were the powerful healing example of understanding, forgiveness and love. Thank you and the amazing acting! for capturing this in this series of Jesus...

My sister is a devout Catholic, and has thanked me for sharing the DVD with the first four episodes with her. We both have absolutely no complaints! In fact, my sister and I both thank you and your filming and acting folk for making your human and warm depiction of our Savior and His disciples. This has only increased our faith and love for God. At least in my opinion, "The Chosen" is a way truer depiction of "God with Us" than the 1960's "King of Kings". Our Lord is no stone statue who speaks in stentorian tones. He speaks out of love for all of us. Thanks again!

I have seen all 3 seasons and loved them. When it comes to comments it’s hard to please everybody. The most important thing is that is as closed to as how it happened and that it makes us realize that it’s important to be our better selves every day., specially in the days that we are living right now that there is so much hate. Thanks so much Dallas for what you and all involved are doing with this project. Blessings.

I am one of your many crazy fans of The CHOSEN! I loved all of the serials. In fact the music in the last scene was so joyful and exciting, probably i would have been dancing if I had to meet my saviour. The scene where Jesus washes his face in the water while talking to the children, where He brushes His teeth, he winks and dances show the human quality of Jesus and I really tried connecting to. I just loved everything so far about this serial. I wish I could be a part of the crew ;).

I actually love the additional details added in the shows that is neither right nor wrong. The Bible is not a diary of everything that happened or spoken every minute everyday but what God wants us to know, to learn, and to meditate. Many of us who grew up in a church all our lives and are living in the western church environment often lacks the understanding of the essence of living in the part of the world of the Jesus ministry. Even if we travel to the middle east these days, we are commuting around in cars/buses with mobile phones, digital cameras, music devices and often with a time schedule . Whereas in Jesus time, all is done on foot for hours and days in the hot sun or pouring rain and have to locate and cook food and make shelter in the open field. They get to one place when they get there not by a specific time but perhaps by specific event. The Bible does not include all the GPS spots, conversations, and jokes that could have gone on during the journey, so why couldn’t that have existed? We often say God has a sense of humor in choosing the least in the world to do his greatest ministry. That is the “different” that I love! I think our background and life experiences can “limit” ourselves to truly know the God that we follow. => "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord." (Isaiah 55:8-10) Our understanding of this verse is limited to what we know of HIM from our personal experiences yet all HIS ways HIS thoughts are beyond our capacity to understand and imagine. That is exciting for me! The humors in the conversations, and all the little details added in the show, are what really make me think broader and embrace all the characters and understand the people that God encountered and recorded in the Bible for us to study. I believe every small detail mentioned in the Bible is not a coincidence. Life in Christ is not all inside the church. Jesus lived and ate with sinners in all walks of life. Often we unknowingly try to fit Jesus into our live instead of stepping out and let God takes us to places and experience HIS plans for us that indeed we cannot even dream of. So far, the first season of The Chosen has done that for me in making me think about the daily lives of Jesus with His disciples and the people He healed and encountered. I love pondering on these details from the show. Can’t wait for another season to come!

Oh my! What do you take the Bible for? What is it to you? When you read it, with what understanding do you do that? Now a mere human, must spice up God's word because you think you think the story needs to be told differently. Some details added would be good. Why? You think it's a novel to entertain you. Of course Jesus laughed and had some fun am sure. But of what use are those details to our salvation? Please, let's understand what the Bible is and isn't and then decide from there how ought to relate to it and it's narration
@achsahkay794 жыл бұрын
@Dallas Jenkins Of course you will stand and support this with everything in you. You believe in it. You seem to miss the whole point. Just because you've had people tell you it's made them believe more doesn't mean it's right to act it out in your own human understanding. Just because the Pharisees had gotten a larger majority to have Jesus crucified didn't make the crucifixion orchestrated by them right even though in this case they were fulfilling scripture. Your understanding of God & His Word must never be based on numbers Dallas. Numbers are always deceiving. Don't ever follow the crowd. Follow Christ even if it's 2 people. Just always, always be on God's side. Man is just a sinner like you and me. Why would his decision or words influence our ways as a Christian? The word of God is spirit filled. Only by the same spirit can it be understood and lead us. Never by human understanding. Adding a physical spin to God's character which by the way has no connection with attaining our salvation I highly doubt should be the reason behind having a relationship with God. If the Word as it is & as it's been given to us is not enough to bring a soul to Christ, then that soul doesn't need to come to Christ. God is Sovereign. His GOD. His not just some guy! Some character. And because Christ had to come on Earth to redeem you & me in human form, doesn't equate Him to our level of humanness & understanding. He came to do what no human could have done ever! Don't relate to Him at your level. Perhaps that's the problem. If an earthly king/queen or president cannot be related to at a level that's not acceptable by laid down standards. What more the King of Kings & LORD of Lord's. This is one area you won't convince me on. Thinking we can just change or add some physical sense to Christ for purpose of winning souls!!!!! What happened to the original ways of doing it? Are they outdated or what? What's the reasoning behind? Mhhhhhh! I have reasons popping up but will keep them to myself for now.

u2rowingfreak my absolute favorite Bible story is when the disciples were back in the boat after the Resurrection and Jesus appears to them on the beach telling them to cast down the net for a catch. And then Peter realizes who it is. I love that it’s sort of an inside joke they had and I can just picture them all smiling and laughing.
@u2rowingfreak4 жыл бұрын
@@MrsYoung-in9ov agree. I think there are so much daily life details that are not recorded but they exist. I often think the miracle of 5 loaves and 2 fishes...all the before and after conversations that have gone on among the disciples (with different personalities) and Jesus. There could have some humours in them.

Dallas, the Chosen is an awesome show because I gratefully see my Savior up close with his calm wisdom, loving and firm leadership and personal humor. The music at the end of Season One was for me a solid and powerful announcement to the World: He has begun to show us God's loving acceptance no matter what our backstory is. He has done that for me as my past was as dark as any other character. Keep making these episodes!!!!!!!!!!
