At the time the constitution was written it was also new, it was written by people that knew RIGHT from WRONG. Just because another man/woman says something is right or wrong dosent mean it is. Some states it's legal for a man to smoke pot in his own house and travel with it within state lines, but a guy a state a way is a criminal for doing the same thing? And we call this country united? Unfortunately most people arent even honest enough with them selves to truly understand what right and wrong is and until EVERYONE involved with governing this completely divided country understands this and follows by it and makes descisions based upon that, it will stay this way. One nation under God indevisble with liberty and justice for all. How often do our politicians remeber this? It's important to the survival of this country. No body likes the under God part, now I'm not religious by ANY means in ANYWAY! However religion is important! its an easy way to lay down a basic foundation as to what right and wrong is. I was brought up with Christian belief in god. That belief was expelled and now i believe other wise. But I still understand right from wrong and have no issue with religion still being part of everyday life. We shouldnt be offended by it we should be thankful for it. The same goes for gun ownership also, My history isnt near what Bens is so I'm sure i dont have this quote exactly right but some time right around ww2. Americans have no perspective about what "old" is. The Declaration of Independence isn't even 250 years old. Empires of Rome, Korea and others lasted 3-7x as long. Some current nations trace back to the BCE era But the Constitution is the oldest active government document, which is a sign that it's doing something right

The *age* of the Constitution isn't relevant, but I'd like to point out that the parts people enjoy so much are the "Amendments." That word means it was shit they forgot when they wrote it, and they added it on later. Did you know that you can also repeal these amendments? That means we added shit on, decided it was a bad idea, then took it off again. The Constitution is a set of rules we collectively decide on, and it has been amended and unamended since the day it was born. It's a living document. The Constitution is really nothing more than "this is the rules that we agree about right now." It's not magical, and as history has proven, it's not always the right way to do things.

You can say that during this decade or this decade, most people held such and such views or values. The easiest argument is immediate, and cheap. There were people in that same decade, who didn’t believe like that. Which is always true, but doesn’t even touch the point of history. Which should always be to get better. Very few are actual significant voices in their time. I’m not talking Kurt Cobain or River Phoenix type oh he died, he must have influenced an entire generation crap, but actual significant movers of the needle on this world history record we keep playing. Very few exist, and very few have existed in history. Our Constitution protects from those such people. It will never be old. It will never be outdated. War has been here since almost the beginning of man, most humans find it old and outdated. Yet politicians pick up that call almost immediately, every damn time. Taxes are old and outdated, and have proven to be the catalyst to countless atrocities on humankind throughout history. Do any of our politicians find taxes old, or outdated? Our Constitution is worlds newer than either of those other 2. Give up those first, we can talk about my Constitution. My piece of paper that no human born in any other country enjoys. I take a huge pride in that. It’s for me. It protects my individual liberties, freedoms, and rights. When that becomes old, I no longer want to play this game.

Here's the latter (and cringeworthy) part of the post: The United States of America Constitution is comprised of seven (7) articles and has only been amended 27 times. No one can ever convince me of the importance of that thing. There’s absolutely no way some half put together document that was written at a time when some of us weren’t even considered human is able to represent an entire melting pot of beings accurately and without bias.
