What 9in rear end and transmission did you use? I have a 78 and I’m trying to get away from the narrow look of the stock rear end and of course the 4 lug.. there’s not a whole lot of information on what I will and will not work with these cars! Thanks man!
@dugganracecraft2 ай бұрын
I used one from a 67-70 Mustang originally. It’s a little wider than a Mustang II but I ended up narrowing it myself. Not easy but definitely worth it. But honestly the 8” can handle quite a bit of abuse pretty reliably!

@@austinrenner6790 I had a '78 fastback when I was in my teens, and had a 9" installed that I think was out of a mid '70's Granada. Didn't have to change the dimensions at all, for it to fit.

Did you use spacers or anything to fit the 17s on there? I have a pinto and I know they have similar wheelbases. I switched my rear-end diff with an 86 foxbody so just double checking… thanks!
@dugganracecraft Жыл бұрын
I know on a factory Mustang II that you need to use spacers (and go to 5 lug) to be able to run stock new edge Bullitt wheels or else they hit the lead spring!
@Jay-fx4tx10 ай бұрын
The pinto is a 94" and the mustang 3 is a 96.2" wheelbase

Stumbled across your video, and now I'm curious. Did that thing start life out as a Mustang 2 or a Cobra 2? There are more differences than most people think there is. I'm old enough to remember these cars on the road first time around. My sister owned two Mustang 2s' and a good buddy of mine had a Cobra2 that he drove on the street and drag raced a little.
@dugganracecraft2 жыл бұрын
Mines actually a King Cobra!
@austinknowlton17832 жыл бұрын
@@dugganracecraft I think his might have been too. Besides having suspension upgrades (and of course power train) and spoilers the one thing that stood out about it to me was that it was made out of lightweight sheet metal compared to a Mustang 2.

Fyi....contact patch has nothing to do with tire height. It's width.
@dugganracecraft Жыл бұрын
Tire height does affect contact patch, tire width obviously has a wider contact patch but the taller tire has a longer contact patch which is why drag cars go for the tallest possible tire they can.
