Area denial is huge. Back in 2nd edition I always paid the points to upgrade my Dark Reapers to have plasma missiles because they not only did damage, they persisted on the battlefield, and, once I'd shot them at a unit, the enemy would avoid that location. It's nice to be able to do that again.

For something that is meant to be a nuke, it's just very lacklustre. Its convoluted rules lack meaningful damage for something thats one use. Get rud of the delayed fire rule you just pick a point and launch it let people pick the warhead this thing can use a vortex missile in lore let people use it

The thudd gun heavy morter used to play this mind game as well. comboed realy well the deathstrike, ok so the blast wasn't as big or as strong but it was great at forcing players to reposition.

Re: no benefit of cover doesn't get indirect penalties like benefit of cover. I'm not sure you're taking in to account the fact that if a model is not fully visible to an attacking model because of ruins obscuring them, they get the benefit of cover. So it would be super easy to get BoC against a unit that is effectively firing indirectly.

Maybe rules as written but units should only be getting cover saves against this if they're in cover relative to the target market itself, not the vehicle chassis.

There's no mention of needing to choose a target. This is at the time of allocating a wounding roll during a ranged attack, which this is.

Played a game against as Dreadnought heavy Blood Angels army last night, bringing Triple Deathstrikes, Triple Vanquisher, 12 Bullgryn, Lord Solar command blob, TC and Vindicare. THE EMPERORS TRUE FINEST RAINE SUPREME!!! Deathstrikes managed to kill about 500 points of his army. Not a bad effort at all

Cool but 3 Deathstrike is 435 points. I rather throw in 5 extra points and get a Shadowsword that's gonna make my opponent piss his pants just by looking at it's gun's profile. I prefer this kind of psychological warfare 😂

the deathstrike not having a range is enough to have players giving it attention its rule for using it makes players fear it you don't have to fire it for it to be dangerous, you just have to aim it

Isnt it super dependant on being the first player to act? Like.. if i go second, i cant really use any fear factor to deny you objectives on the first turn, and so the deathstrike lost one entire turn of value.. in a game of usually 4 turns

Before listening....no......not the best as 2d6 attacks can easily turn into 3-4 attacks. At 1 damage each that isnt even a guard unit....but appreciate the effort :)

It's fun! I hope it worked out that way in combat... for 335 points for that one doozy. No need to "overcommit" to take primary if you just use a vehicle or character with more than 3 wounds -- it's less than a single failed Hazardous weapon check.
