I could see someone arguing that this gun is impractical, too powerful for its own good, too heavy, and so on, but as for the charge that it's inaccurate, uh... I don't get that one either. It has a fixed barrel! And a long one at that. What, does the bullet go, "Uhhh this gun is for posers, I'm going to miss on purpose!" Ridiculous. It's more likely that people are flinching before they shoot and throwing off their aim.
@ousi0010 жыл бұрын
I tried the DE 44Mag. Ordered a 50AE still waiting for arrival. The first shot I got out of the 44 DE was right on. But then I kind of missed somehow. Then I figured out it's me flinching. It's hard not to flinch with so much force. Then I dry fired it a couple times and retry. It's spot on again. Very accurate for a rental. And it didn't jam on my first try on the gun with 50 rounds of 44 Mag down range. It's actually more "reliable" than a Raging bull. Due to the expansion of the case, it's sometimes really hard to get the cylinder out, or cycle for the next chamber. After that trial I set my eyes on the DEagle instead.

As feedback, I own 3 Desert Eagles (50 AE, .44 Magnum, and a 9mm Baby DE). You're correct, they are great guns to shoot and fun to own. You may not shoot the 50AE as often as a 9mm, but you always walk away smiling. The 50AE was bought new, and I've never had any problems w/ the gun. I use Hornady 300gr ammo, and as long as you keep the gun relatively clean, you'll be fine. I give mine an extreme cleaning every 200-300 rounds, and keep the outside of the gun clean after every shooting. I know it's expensive, but it's one gun you'll keep for life, it'll always draw a crowd at the range, and you always walk away smiling. I bought the .44 mag DE used, and while it's just as much fun to shoot, I have had jamming problems, but if I keep the chamber "wet" it works fine. It's older than the 50AE, probably by many years (e.g., it was built in Israel). I've sent it to 2 different gunsmiths, and it still can be problematic, but the jam is easily and quickly resolved. I will be sending it into the gunsmiths at Magnum Research in the next few months, and I am hoping it simply needs some new parts due to its age (springs have already been replaced). Lastly, I also own a 9mm Baby Desert Eagle. It's one of my favorites, it's extremely accurate, extremely dependable (zero jams), inexpensive to buy & own, and did I mention it's extremely accurate. And BTW, once you get used to the kick on the 50AE, it also is incredibly accurate. So yes, it's a great gun to own although no one is going to carry the 50AE concealed, or used for personal defense, but great for hunting large animals. It's one worth saving for and having on your wish/bucket list.

+PhilaPop Nothing More Thanks for your detailed comment man. I just ordered a Desert Eagle 50 and had some concerns about reliability cause I think the one I'm getting is made in the USA. So I'm glad to hear you've never had a problem with your USA made 50. I plan on only running the Hornady 300gr hollow points, which I know is high quality.
@philapop52698 жыл бұрын
+damon323 Congrats, you'll love the DE 50. One thing I've learned is to keep it clean and lubed. There are some videos around from Magnum Research on cleaning and lubing the gun, I suggest you watch the video. It's very simple to disassemble, but there's a lot of metal to keep clean so it'll take a while. I used to have my shop clean the gun, but I had some problems w/ my .44 DE and was about to send it back to MR to "repair" it. Then I found the videos, started cleaning it myself, and it's much better and I won't be sending it in to "be fixed". BTW, if you look hard you can buy Hornady ammo for $25 a box. Enjoy...

Desert Eagle? For big game hunting: The Deagle can be useful for hunting, though the .454 Casull, .460 Magnum, and .500 Magnum all beat the .50AE in power. For self defense: .50AE presents an over-penetration danger to innocent bystanders, and the recoil prevents accurate rapid-fire at long range. The Deagle is also too big for concealed carry, unless you wear heavy clothes. For impressing people at the range: The Deagle certainly wins here, as a magnum caliber semi-auto pistol is awe inspiring.

I'm partial to my Glock 20 10mm! I still find the .50 Desert Eagle a novelty. 10mm packs enough wallop for me and 15 rounds of it
@burmiester16 жыл бұрын
Exactly, .50 AE has too much penetration and too much recoil to control accurately. The .357 and .44 Desert Eagles are a different story, more capacity than a revolver with less recoil due to the gas operation. I'd rather have a .44 Magnum than a .50 AE Desert Eagle because you've effectively got the same capacity and less recoil.
@weslyholmstrom96185 жыл бұрын
Dude, 10mm may pack enough "wallop" for you but it won't for a big Grizz. Thats what this vid is really about. I carry a LAR for bears cuz I hike in Ak year round and a 10mm might be good for blackies but the first time you surprise a sal with two cubs, your going to realize that. It's a shame that 10mm is gaining so much popularity. Its a false sense of security for Griz and people cuz it pass through the first human target
@isaiahmarquez97174 жыл бұрын
burmiester1 You don’t think 10mm has too much penetration? A frontal shot on a human and it’s coming right out the back.
@texasbeast2393 жыл бұрын
In ballistics tests with gel, 10mm penetrates 15 to 18 inches. That is perfect as far as FBI testing standards. No real reason to fear a round that does exactly what the experts say a defensive round is supposed to do. .50AE penetrates 24 to 40 inches in gel, by comparison.

@FutureSniper100011 жыл бұрын
I see the Desert Eagle as being as practical as a 1911.Look at their calibers/capacities(respectively) Desert Eagle, .50 AE/7 rounds, .44 Magnum/8 rounds, .357 Magnum/9 Pounds. 1911, .50 Gov./7 rounds,.45 ACP/8 rounds, 9 mm/9 rounds. If someone takes the time to make their shots count, then lower capacity handguns are fine.Do not discredit the Desert Eagle because of recoil or capacity, because in the case, you should just shoot rifles in .22LR and handguns in .380, no excuses.

@mechredd11 жыл бұрын
Is the Desert Eagle a novelty gun? Yes. I still own one and like it very much. Does it have any practical uses? Yes. It is a rather good hunting handgun for big game. It's accurate and has less recoil than a revolver in the same caliber. You can also quickly change calibers and barrel lengths to suit your needs. A .357 with 6 inch barrel is fun at the range, while a 10 inch .44 mag or .50 AE with scope, will take most animals in North America, within 100 yards.

@humans4targets2 Жыл бұрын
Hello, the only real stipulation with .44 in Deagle is that they recommended that you use 240 grain ammo only (just what reliably feeds the best) other than that the reason the .50 is so popular is because when most guys say Deagle most people automatically think .50 cal, I’ve seen good results with .44!

you can say human error from stance creates unreliability but if you gave that person a less powerful gun the unreliability that was there is now gone. that is why i think its unreliable
@Grayswandiir11 жыл бұрын
Your comment is illogical. If the way a shooter fires a firearm alters the reliability of the weapon then the shooter is unreliable, not the weapon. The weapon functions fine, the shooter does not.
@ellswtf11 жыл бұрын
psychofmse sorry i misphrased that, what i meant to say was that he stated that for many people they have a bad stance and due to that the gun jams from recoil, with that information and common sense a gun like a glock will have less recoil, ergo removing the jamming problem.
@sk8eroy11 жыл бұрын
ellswtf I couldn't agree with ellswtf more, proper shooting techniques may eliminate certain malfunctions but nobody has perfect technique 100% of the time, let alone under duress, and a firearm that's more forgiving of that fact is more desirable, period. I'm not at all saying I don't like this gun, because obviously it's badass, but the point stands, results are what matter.
@kirkyatras833310 жыл бұрын
psychofmse Little point of contention their is that the more particular a gun is about correct stance then the less reliable the shooter and gun as a system is going to be. The gun and the shooter cannot and should not be considered separately as they are always used together, if the gun is too particular in its operation for most shooter to use then it is not a reliable system for the average Joe. That said I have every intention of buying a .44 Mag Desert Eagle within the next couple of years and I have no doubts about my ability to shoot it reliably. My girlfriend or nonshooting friends on the other hand...

I own a .50AE Mark XIX, and I will say that your assessment is false. Absolutely, it is unreliable and a novelty. And before you go thinking I'm using poor form or limp wristing, I can tell you I'm a US Infantry Marine and know damn well how to shoot a pistol. I won't say that it isn't fun to shoot. It is. But it's not suitable for self defense, hunting, or much else than impressing people at a range. It's a jam-o-matic and very fussy about what ammo & grain you put in it.
@kennethburright42969 жыл бұрын
I prefer the Deagle or Desert eagle, the Deagle is a nickname some people use. its a great hand cannon, just extremely heavy and feels like you using artillery piece in your hands. so I designed a new desert eagle. you made absolutely 0 points as to why it is not a novelty pistol. you proved its a reliable range toy that is ok if you are shooting dead chickens or soda bottles. This gun absolutely a novelty. Really the only application it would be good for is hunting. too heavy, low round count, and unreliable. The DE is worthless in any tactical application and I DARE you to defend yourself on the street with this. I dont have pure hate for this gun, it is a friggen BLAST to shoot, it is just not good at anything than delivering massive rounds with massive recoil.
@BoostedBadBoy11 жыл бұрын
Look lower at my replies gives plenty of points to it. Low round count? Its no different than ANY single stack mag. And street use? I can shoot through anything I have to, I know you can't with most calibers out there. Yeah its heavy, no the recoil isn't that bad but seeing your picture I am a much bigger guy than you. So lets look at this real world point of view, this is your opinion for your size, so what is true for you is not for me, I get so annoyed when I see people base their opinion on it trying to state it as a fact. So that may be why its much more simple for me than you. And unreliable? I don't know where this BS always comes from, I got a few thousand rounds through one of mine never had a single jam in it EVER... sure if you don't clean your guns this isn't the gun for you, and that will jam as well as limp wristing it, I have seen cause difficulties with others. But I really don't get where unreliable even comes from. Most the time I ever hear anyone downing this gun its people that have zero experience with it, or knows a friend of a friend who let me shoot it 3 times Or jumps on the hater band wagon. You Dare me to defend myself on the street with this? Well I do... and I know I'm grouping withing a inch and a half at 100 yards out and yes this is yards not feet, lets see you do that with your pistol homeboy. And I do that with more velocity and energy than most pistols point blank at that distance. And to your whole opinionated rant I stand the complete opposite of your opinion in real world use of it. And I'm honest about it, sure I won't win a draw down with it to most, but I'm no slouch with it. And truthfully its not because of the weight its because of the length to it. It has a 6" barrel on a 10" slide, that's a lot of gun to travel in a short distance fast. And tactical use? I'm ex military and can give you plenty of tactical real world uses of it, and its not some call of duty BS. I'm a ex Scout Sniper that gun in my hands I'll probably out shoot you with a rifle its a great pistol platform with devastating accuracy and distance for being a pistol with plenty of punch. And you need to be real about it, a target shooting back at you does mess up your speed and accuracy, you dare someone to defend themselves in the street with this? Okay lets look at that realistically, a lighter gun can most times be pulled faster true but it doesn't mean your on target, and that's the difference of life and death, sure you might get the first round off, but there is no guarantee you made the first hit.
@HardcoreSlot11 жыл бұрын
BoostedBadBoy Again, not one point that you can prove that this is a good gun other that goofing off at the range. Just an "I can (cuz my military balls say so) and most others cant so it has to be good", argument. Man, I really hope you were just trying to prove a point rather than actually believing all of this. Why on earth would you want to "shoot through stuff" in the street. I would advise you to review and get some help understanding the legalities of self defense shooting, especially in public. Recoil, as much as you guys are defending it, it IS huge. you cannot defend that, you just cant. Sure a bigger guy can mitigate it better than a smaller guy (like me apparently) but that does not make it ok. You say that limp wristing causes problems, well, THAT IS THE PROBLEM. This gun is so easy to limp wrist that it really takes a lot of technique which you need to use and keep in a firefight(I'm sure you know that you lose a ton of thought and logic when in a high stress environments such as a SD shooting). If you are going to base your entire argument on the fact that you can and most cant, then you are not real in tune with what people need or want in a gun. You may be the ultimate bad ass with this gun as you claim, but if you have to defend yourself and end up shooting someone with this gun, you will find yourself in an ASS load of trouble. Courts will burn you alive for using this sort of firepower. It is just asinine in any SD situation. So tell me to be real about it. Stopping power is the ONLY thing this thing is good for. A foot long, 5lb sidearm with only 7 rounds that only the ultimate badasses can shot does not make this a good gun.

The desert eagle is elegant and over all a true weapon. The ergonomics and overall shape is beautiful. This is not a compensation toy, it's not a 18.5 inch long S&W 500 or BFR it is a combat pistol that handles the power incredibly well.

Want if you were to use the .357 or .44 magnum variations of these guns? Would they be viable carry options?
@Stonehedged7 жыл бұрын
Something to note- in Israel, where this gun was created, getting a permit for a firearm usually only allows for a single pistol (no one start complaining about gun laws, its a different country with different realities). Given that most people can't own rifles, the reason for a very large caliber handgun is relatively reasonable.

This is great. It seems like there are so many people who claim that this handgun is not reliable or not durable. It's just simply not true. I love this gun. Thanks for putting their rumors down.

I just bought the 50 Cal AE Chrome Polished Desert Eagle and I can't wait to shoot it. I had to order it. What online ammo store can you recommend? great video

Go to the site "slick guns" and type 50 ammo in the search and you see where the cheapest is

I agree the desert eagle is not just a novelty gun. Although there is more options that are better the revolver world. For price,power, and capacity. It really does not overshadow much in terms of a revolver. I bought a ruger super redhawk in 454 casull.Price paid $850 new, 454 has more power, and capacity is 6.. Now, with that information I still want to get my own desert eagle they do serve their purpose and are very well made.

The gun tends to have misfeeds due to the fact when people buy 44 or 357 they don't get the Magnum. Magnum means way more power which is what you will need to overcome the slide double spring. When it comes to jamming I've only experience that with a couple times with reloaded ammo, it was usually a cartridge problem.
@humans4targets212 жыл бұрын
Mike he bought the whole brief case kit, you can find them on gunbroker, they come with 50 barrel, 44 barrel and 357 barrel and bolt, the correct mags for each round and some even come with the long barrels as well all in one nice case from the factory and $7000 is the price.

I enjoyed your video. Great info on the D E. I often wonder why they made this gun. As you said, it can't really be carried. Maybe just because they could and they knew it would sell.
@outspokengenius3 жыл бұрын
Magnum Research designed and made the Desert Eagle with target shooting, hunting, and silhouette shooting in mind, it's right on their website. They wanted to design a reliable handgun for magnum revolver cartridges that did not take proprietary cartridges like the unreliable AMT Automag and the Wildey, and Magnum Research succeeded. Back in the late 70's and early 80's when the Desert Eagle was designed it was illegal to conceal or open carry in most states so that type of thing wasn't even thought of back then. Hell when I got into guns in 2002 most states didn't allow you to carry a firearm, that's a new thing. The Desert Eagle is great as a target gun, hunting pistol, or for handgun silhouette shooting because it is softer shooting than a large revolver thanks to the gas system. Those Silhouette strings of fire can get downright grueling with a big bore revolver.

What you said about limp wristing is 100% accurate. I’ve had two .50 AE Desert Eagles and one .44 magnum Desert Eagle. None of them ever jammed with ME shooting them. I’m well experienced with handguns and how to properly hold one. I’ve let friends fire the big Desert Eagles. Some of them don’t hold it correctly and they jam. They don’t want to believe it is them, “it’s the gun” they say. Back in my hands, 100% again. Know your limitations and work on your weaknesses.

Good video. I'm about to buy a .50 AE Desert Eagle for investment purposes and this was really helpful. An important aspect is single action vs. double action. I know you cover that, but some people may not know.

Nice video and absolutely right with the hunting carry gun, also as a sidearm in thick forest. Those boars can be quick, and those 3 or 4 shots you are able to fire should better work. But how big is the difference of your .45 +P compared to the normal bullets in recoil and power?

im no gun whiz but i have a fairly good understanding of aerodynamics but wouldn't a hallow point round be extremely un-aerodynamic or does it follow the same principal as closing the tailgate on your truck

H4T, do you shake a lot? Kinda seems like it from the comparison of the .45 and the .50. Not sure why I'm asking. Prob just cuz I tend to shake A LOT randomly, but I'm usually as steady on my hands as a rock laying on the ground.

A friend of mine has a .50AE DE and he hunts hogs and deer with it. We have put a ridiculous amounts of ammo through it, and it has NEVER had a FTE or FTF. And the recoil is NOTHING like they talk about. My wife is only 5'2' tall, and has no trouble handling the recoil. And it is VERY accurate. Excellent video H4T, i'm saving up as I type this so I can purchase one in the near future, and at $2+ a round, i'll definately be reloading for it.

Just an FYI I've loaded rounds listed in reloading manuals for the 45 ACP and they fired a 185 gn round at roughly 1350-1400 fps. Not bashing the 50 AE, it does have much more energy than a 45. Just thought I'd let you know.

Glad to see someone who actually owns an Eagle talk about it. I get a little sick of asking, "When did you shoot one?" to people who call it a crap gun. I don't really consider the gun to be very practical myself, but I believe that if someone had big enough hands to hold the gun well and enough money to practice to use it effectively that it would make a good bear gun or hunting handgun.

i have one in 44 mag and it one of the most reliable handguns out there the only complaint i have is the safety mine keep coming lose and putting itself on safe othet then that ive never had any issues with thousands of rounds shot through it,and ammo price isnt an issue if you reload it allows you to shoot 3 times as much
@BestWaIkthroughs11 жыл бұрын
When they say "the gun is unreliable", they're refering to (combat environment unreliable). When swimming or stuck in rain or mud, then the reliability factor kicks in, but in general, it doesn't matter. However, this gun was made for military combat scenarios, to be able to penetrate heavy cavlar. Pretty awesome gun when maintained actually.

I bought a used Baby Desert Eagle recently (Polymer frame) and I love this gun. It shoots very well and shows no sign of not being reliable. I did hold a 'fully grown' desert eagle, full steel, in my big hand (I'm 6.3 tall) and even though the gun fascinated me, I found it too heavy as a handgun, especially for target shooting or even home defense. Yes, it may bring down a water buffalo, but I stick with my "Baby".

Desert eagles are great guns i have a chrome/ gold 44 with millet sights, and a gold 50 ae. 44 magnum feels like a 38 special , but 50 ae i have hogue grip on ,. 44 magnum i love to shoot, its a joy ,it destroys stuff not my hand . 50 and 44 change uses same bolt, 357 and 41 requires bolt change too along with barrel and magazine . But i dont like the 357 cause its only reliable with hot loads or premium carry ammo. Great video.
