Nice! This dude makes the most useful information dense videos possible, and yeah - that first video that blew up looked like it had years of creator experience.

1:06:15 Player lockers will facilitate a smoother trade experience for players, and that's part of the Player Interaction Experience effort as shown on the Progress Tracker. "Lockers T1 introduces a consistent way to store clothes, armor, and items in a physicalized state. Also includes a more robust and tactile method of storing items on shelves and attachment surfaces. This builds on the Personal Inventory, expanding the inventory UI to include lockers."

Too much combat? CIG has been talking "death of a spaceman" and the heavy consequences of injury and death for the game. A friend of mine pointed out how everything they've been showing seems to be increasing the amount of combat and risk; particularly with the addition of Pyro. It seems to me that CIG needs to reign back on the hostility levels, and show us some focus on non-combat loops. Give players a realistic expectation about just how much combat and danger has to be sought, rather than being unavoidable.
@Threlil3 ай бұрын
Yeah no, the problem is that people think that they will be able to earn loads of cash just from trading and moving cargo. They fail to realize that that game loop provides zero risk. CIG isn’t going to allow you as a non competitive player to earn that much cash without having a risk of you getting pirated or being killed. ( Risk isn’t the game crashing or encountering bugs )
@HeliosExeunt3 ай бұрын
@@Threlil I think it's unrealistic for any gameplay loop to avoid combat entirely (even aggressive racing with lots of collisions could count as combat), but perhaps the amount of combat in each gameplay loop can be tweaked indirectly using systems that aren't (fully) implemented yet.
@jeremiahbond28103 ай бұрын
@@Threlilyou dont know what you are talking about. Sink drain has been a thing for decades. Combat is not a required loop. Thats a perverse desire for a perversed people.

@@Threlil Star Citizen reckons it's more sim than not. The news here in England is not full of stories of trucks, aircraft, trains and ships being attacked and pirated as goods flow around the country and operators profit. If CIG wants realism then it should emulate reality. Some will say that's boring. Others will find it compelling. The two are mutually exclusive.

Combat's there to give us something to do while everything else is put into the game, notably a proper dynamic economy, was a comment made in the video. Catch is that according to a survey Space Tomato did, just one fifth of players favour combat. That means four fifths of players could stay away, not spend and even cash-out by selling their fleets on the grey market.

Not terribly related but funny timing, I just patreon subbed to him today. Back when he posted his first UoS video, I thought he was STL Youngblood at first, very similar voice. His latest ship breakdown video is really fantastic as well.

Death of a spaceman will hurt star citizen. Anybody who plays an mmo does not want to lose their character or things they collected
@Shawnsrumi2 ай бұрын
I don’t think people are gonna lose. Everything will keep their items but their credits if they reach a certain point should be cut MMO‘s will sink on swim on their ability to make credit sinks as you progress make money in this game. There’s a serious chance of inflation of credits, it is one of the biggest problems in Mmo

I believe CIG has said that when your character can't regenerate any more and passes away fully, you will become the heir to your former character. As an heir you'll have no reputation or possessions but will inherit some items from your forebear (although death taxes being required before you can receive your inheritance was also mentioned) and then you start again. Given that combat will burn through your regeneration count it was floated that players may be able to buy (not sure whether this meant in-game money or real cash) a way to protect their regeneration counter for limited periods while engaging in activities where players will die often.

The contested zone reward. The only one that makes sense for the location and that it gets better over time is …. Data. Data running is the big surprise of 4.0. The mechanic can evolve but could include locations and blueprints or deeds. It’s the only reward for the space station contested zones that keep people coming back for years.

If a veteran player with a selection of ships finds it difficult to play or progress, how is a player with a starter package going to fare? Is a new player, accustomed to other games where one can get into the meat and potatoes (or would it be tomatoes in these parts haha) of a game in short order find SC cumbersome and annoying when it can take twenty or thirty minutes to outfit and go about whatever mission or activities they want to try in the verse? With combat being so prevalent, even in low paying starter missions for non combat roles (Here’s 4K for you to retrieve a box for delivery at some ruined outpost with a dozen hostile NPCs who may be unmoving zombies waiting to be slaughtered or sharp shooting terminators depending on server performance. Sure you don’t have armor or a decent weapon yet, but hey without ridiculous risk for little reward, where’s the fun?)… starting out with a pistol, flight suit and helmet can be daunting for the more casual gamer. More so for those who have bought into the concept of a living breathing verse where one can keep to less combat related game loops. MM made it easier for new players, but everything else makes the game overly complicated, time consuming, and catering to combat play styles. Nothing speaks new player or progression friendly where SC is concerned.

I just want to see progression trees in star citizen even if all the parts aren't there yet. I love the concept of this game but there doesn't seem to be a real reason to play. Components could also have a progression trees, this would stop people just grabbing the metta components as you'd have to invest the time to get them
@CitizenScottАй бұрын
Been sayin this for years. There IS progression in SC. You ARE the character. Learn all you can and practice your skills in whatever your playstyle is. Level up yourself. That's the only thing that's guaranteed to last past wipes.

Doesn't the weaker bounty system in Pyro make it an ideal "hideout" system for bad guy players? Hopefully any potential bounty system implemented there will still require a lot more work for the hunter to track someone down.

Won't be going to Pyro as a matter of principle. The system glorifies and celebrates activities that contradict God and Scripture. There is too much of that IRL without games adding to the problem.

Coincidentally, an NMS content creator got a new powerful PC and went into Star Citizen to give it a go. He started the new player tutorial and got frustrated (the spawn room door would not open) and left it. He went into the 'verse proper, got his ship, took off... but his closing comment was that he likely won't continue with Star Citizen because it's too much of a sim.
