100% agree on the miss of RID. So many people are just going to assume since its 249 grams and fully enclosed that its legal to fly over people, just like they assume it doesn't need to be registered no matter what since its 249 grams.

I guess I misunderstood the Remote ID rule the FAA put into place in 2021. I was under the impression that ALL "out of the box" drones were required to be manufactured with Remote ID onboard. Big miss on DJI's part by not implementing RID onboard this drone -- would have definitely expanded the potential user base for the drone. I'll pass on this one purely because of that issue.

I have the RC2 that came with my mini 4 pro, it also works with the Neo I bought, I would love to buy the Air 3S for the added features and the flip for quick fun, but I will not pay extra for more controllers that I do not need and cannot afford, so that's 2 sales they have lost.

As a parent / beginner wouldn't you just get a Neo though? Still feels like an oddly placed product - cool design, but feels a bit like a product without a real defined market or reason to exist.

From the looks of it I had originally thought it was going to compete with the HoverAir. All good, great video as always.

I think the HoverAir's tracking algorithm is probably way better and tracks its subject much better and at a faster speed than the Flip. But I could be wrong and the only way to test its maneuverability is to show it tracking the subject riding on a bike at a higher speed in a forested area, with lots of turns. The test should also be done with the Hoverair X1 for fairness.

Why? Why? Why not? Besides being a great beginners drone, it also serves well as an adventurer's drone. Having a capable drone to film yourself adventuring and doing onsite talking heads, you can also capture some good quality b-roll. Only thing it's lacking is RID. If it would have come in at 234 grams, then my 13.9g RID broadcast module would have been a win. An unfortunate miss. Another great review Ken! Appreciate you.

If you get a RID module for it. All you need to do is register the drone. All in all I don't know why people get so turned off on registering a drone? Nobody would give a "Flip" about the .249g weight limit.

Probably will not purchase. I need a small DJI drone for an upcoming trip to Spain and I chose a Mini 4k (refurb) from the DJI store. It was $235 with a remote and one battery. Perfect solution for the trip over my Air 3. Anyway, I am holding out for the real upgrade , the Mavic Pro 4.

Apparently it has RID at startup. Once registered to a USA owner, RID goes away. Maybe a firmware update with a switch on/off RID signal is possible.

I hope DJI learns from this and the future Mini 5 Pro would have protective props. There is no way this would be a replacement for the future Mini 5 Pro. I like the idea that I forgot my controller scenario and you can use the phone as a option or even just click the buttons on the side to do a few quick feature options. This like the Neo doesn't really hit the pro pilots or someone with a 107. This drone like the NEO is more of a toy for the DJI Preppies that know next to nothing about drones and want to learn as little as possible, but still be able to fly a drone. Great review as usual, Ken!
