People sleep on 5.7s. Don't let the horsepower on paper fool you. It's widely believed in the Mopar community that Dodge purposely underrated the engine. RT Life touched on this in one of his videos stating it's really pushing 400 hp and I believe it. My 18 Challenger RT Plus is no slouch. I know Raiti said the RTs do 5.7 0-60s, but I've gotten 5 seconds flat bone stock. I've seen others get even better times, as low as 4.7. They say the Scatpack is the best value and to each his own. But I believe the 5.7 engine holds that title 💯

To be honest the challenger R/T is tuned much more aggressively than the charger in the 2018 year. I've driven plenty of them. They picked it back up for the charger in 2019 & up. But the 18 model rt charger for some reason just felt so sluggish to me every time I've driven one.
@alvin70894 жыл бұрын
Yeah maybe true. But the scat is also underrated as well. They're doing about 425-430 at the wheels. They claim 485. But they are more like 500-505 at the crank. And the charger tops at like 182 miles per hour. Itll do about 23-25 miles per hour over a 5.7s top speed. A 6.4 is more fast than a 5.7 than what a 5.7 is over a 3.6
@alvin70894 жыл бұрын
The horsepowers are 485, 370, and 292! The scat pack is definitely the best value. Stock Ls1 and Ls2 platforms are still faster than the standard 2015-2019 5.7 R/T

In the intro, you said the Charger was made into a four-door in order to not compete with the two-door Challenger. There is another reason: The Police sedan market. In 2006, when the four-door Charger came out, Ford had the Police market cornered with the Crown Vic for more than a decade. But Ford never upgraded the engine, sticking with the 250-horsepower 4.6L V8. When the Dodge Charger Police came out in 2006 with the (then) 350-horsepower 5.7L Hemi V8, it was a game changer. After Ford discontinued the Crown Vic in 2011, the Dodge Charger became the only V8 police sedan option, until Chevy came out with the new Caprice (Australian Holden) with the V8. So, getting back into the police sedan market was part of Dodge's market strategy.

And without the added expenses of the Scat - especially for gas right now! Still considering upgrade as I love those Scat Packs and high-winding 6.4, but I really love my budget bruiser R/T. It’s been around for years but despite everything is selling well and still an attractive car. Loving that green. R/T is a good value option.

I just cant see any charger after seeing the wide body. I understand they have to offer many versions and price points but that wide body is just so ferocious looking. Great review as always.

Hey joe what you think about the charger/challenger RT having an option for widebody ? You think it should be available? I think as long as you have a V8 wide body seems right haha. But great review loved it as usual joe !

Thanks George for watching. I will track down a GT for you! Back up cameras were not required by law until 2018.

The 2018 charger RT has a different bumper. Are you sure it isnt a 2019 ? Those RTs come with the scat pack style bumper

This particular 2018 R/T has the Supertrackpack option which changes the body for that model year from the standard R/Ts before they made that body standard for the 19s and up.

Hum...now I wanna test 0-60 speeds where I live in western NY during the winter...probably not the best idea but hey, it’s 2AM. This is when I have my greatest ideas! Great review as always the crushed nuts warning was superb! 👌🏾

Even if this car is slow, it's still faster than 99% of normal cars. Great review 👍
@texasstreetkings5373 жыл бұрын
It’s not slow🤦♂️ but I feel like scatpacks and hellcats get called slow more than rt’s and it cause they have too carry the burden of having too beat more competition
