Yiesma's crazy antics and her villainy are a good contrast to Kusco's nonchalant cruelty. She's actually malicious as where Kuzco is just a jerk, both for no reason other than they can be but it's a nice way to say: "Yeah, this guy is a jerk but it could actually be worse". Plus the adult jokes they sneak in are priceless.

Disney doesn't have the balls to make the balls to make a movie like this nowadays and I speak for everyone who is a genuine fan of ENG when we can have a healthy peaceful sleep every night knowing there will never be a LA remake of this glorious hidden masterpiece

The fact that Kuzco doesn't mention anything about his childhood at all adds to the lightheartedness of it all. He's obviously an orphan, but either his parents both died before he could remember (hence the plethora of hands giving him a new toy, since the parents weren't around) or they were always very distand (as standard emperors) and so he didn't even notice the difference when they died. The fact that this isn't ever mentioned, and that the only parent figure, Yzma, is hellbent on killing him, makes him an extremely interesting character, completely lonely and completely happy, perfectly fullfilled by his power and possessions, and even spending time with someone that's being evicted from his ancestor's house can't sway him from his sociopathic egoism. That, until he realizes that he was way happier with Patcha on the road that he ever was, because he was the only one that actually cared for him. Great movie overall XD

We used to always bring this movie on road trip vacations so we could watch it both on the way there and on the way back. One trip, we forgot it at my grandparents house on a 20-hour drive home. So, my siblings and I did what any family would do and just quoted the ENTIRE MOVIE, _VERBATIM_ instead.

I think the clever writing, fantastic animation quality, and colorful and captivating art direction all give this movie a strong foundation, and then the cast of multiple incredibly talented actors add so much in their delivery and energy to this film that make it come off as passion piece.

Agreed. You can tell they put a lot of work and heart into it. And I would also argue that it has near-perfect casting, right down to the minor characters. Everyone's voice fits.

What I want to know is how they went from developing a more typical Disney musical, Kingdom of the Sun, and decided that absurdist comedy was the better way to go.

There’s a documentary on it actually 😂. Though I’ve only watched KZbin videos on it. But from what I understand is that the main person (forget his name) in charge had to many ideas and nothing was gelling. So the higher up gave it to his coworkers and they went comedy.

@Sam-bd1uu Жыл бұрын
He doesn't really change much, he starts out a decent guy with a warped/naive view of the world(due to reasons that we're not given on screen since the movie isn't trying to paint him as a saint), and once he gets to see more of the world he's still basically the same dude with the same warped view of the world but slightly less naive about the how others live(the resources available to them) and acts accordingly. From Patcha's/audience's perspective he changed but if you really think about it he didn't really change, though he takes nicer actions, he's still the same person.
@PureMaddnessOne2 жыл бұрын
Well he have a spoiled backstory and we don't see his parents, that is sorta a sad backstory. IF his parents were still alive it shows they were prety neglectfull in the upbringing and with spoiling part, it can be seen as a form of abuse.
