I bought a Ford Bronco Sport Badlands last week, and am absolutely head over heals in love with it. I have three vehicles and go camping A LOT. Every other week or sometimes every week if I get a chance I am out on the trails, and I used to take my beater 2012 Ford Focus SE Hatchback with a 5-Speed Manual. Because of its LAUGHABLE ground clearance I had to get exceptionally good at taking lines, and I recently took my Bronco on the hardest trail I ever took in my Focus just to see how it would do and it literally walked over it like nothing. No scrapes no bumps, no scratches. I credit myself heavily for my ability to navigate tough trails, but this thing is insanely capable off road and doesn't get the respect it deserves. I decided on getting a fully-loaded Badlands because it drives like a Mercedes on the road (I used to work at Mercedes, I would know), and it eats trails like nothing. Maybe some day I'll upgrade to a big Bronco if I ever need it, but I've been overlanding for 6.5+ years and never had an issue in a FOCUS, I think I'm gonna do just fine (:

I completely agree with you! There is a difference in Bronco Sports, though. I had a Big Bend and it is not the same animal as a Badlands at all! My Big Bend had noticeably less power than my Badlands and the off road capability between the two is also noticeable. If you are going to purchase a Bronco Sport, do not waste your time with anything else but the Badlands. If you truly want to take it off road, the Big Bend nor the Outerbanks come close the Badlands capabilities.

Keep in mind ALOT of that price in his tester is options & Heritage badge. I have a BS Badlands with the only option being the trailer hitch and that comes in $10,000 less than this one. Love my BS Bandlands. Perfect for the weekly commute to the office and then for some fun in the weekends. I've driven both Escape and BS in the 3 cyc and its one of the worst driving experiences i've ever had. The 2.0 can get you good MPG as long as you dont drive it like a madman. Thanks again Roman for providing me with the opportunity to run the course at Tumbleweed Ranch with my Bronco Sport Badlands. After our visit we went to Moab. We went on Schafer Switchbacks, Potash Road, Chicken Corners, Gemini Bridges, Onion Creek, and first 1/2 of Fins and Things. Traction was amazing, it went where ever i pointed it with no wheel spin. I did also consider a full size Bronco but, i could not wait 2 years and out of principle was not going to pay anything over sticker for one on the lot. I got my Sport for $600 under and was lucky to find exatly what i wanted on a dealer lot. As far as the paddle shifters they come in handy towing, downshifting going down hill. In buying the Bronco Sport i wanted a vehicle that would be an easy daily driver, get acceptable fuel economy, tow my small camper, be able to take off the beaten path with ease, and look great. So far it is exceeding my expectations.

I love how much this Bronco Sport offends the "hardcore" off-roading community in the comments section. Lol Where I live, a little height and a bit of AWD is the only way you're getting out of that muddy fairground parking lot or through those 6 inches of snow. You don't need a Wrangler or a Bronco to do that. This may surprise some, but Hell's Revenge is a pretty foreign concept when you're driving here in western Ohio. The Bronco Sport looks like a great solution to the needs of rural communities like the one I live in.

Exactly!!!!! Well said! Not everybody wants or needs a full-sized clown jeep. The sport heritage/badlands/limited is perfect, fully loaded luxury, easy to get in and out of, better gas mileage, more nimble turning ratio, faster than the big bronco off the line , much smoother and quieter and more comfortable, and the 360 cruise control drives the car like a Tesla 90% of the time. And it's plenty capable off road in most reasonable real world situations....and it looks cool.

I purchased a 22 Bronco Sport Outer Banks new that's fully loaded except for the rear table. I live in the Canadian Rockies and bought this vehicle especially for this reason. I've owned it for almost 2.5 years now and have not no problems at all. The turbo 3-banger has amazing power, is quiet, and easily climbs the mountains. There have been 2 recalls and each was dealt with quickly. My only complaints are 1) the roof rack cross bars (an expensive option) are not adjustable and do not slide. This is a major pet peeve of mine. Buy a 3rd party product that fits the rails and I'm sure you will be much happier. 2) the flimsy switch that's at the end of right control arm that turns on and off rear wiper. I continually hit it and am sure it will break off soon. Otherwise, I live the vehicle.

Just looking down at the comments, a lot of the viewers hate the Bronco Sport. I don't get all the hate. Maybe it's my personal bias but I absolutely adore this thing. I drive a Maverick and my mom drives a Bronco Sport and we both love our vehicles. We almost got the base Heritage Edition but for only a couple thousand more, it made more sense to get a fully-loaded Outer Banks instead. I've always enjoyed the retro-modern look of the Bronco and Bronco Sport. I will say the Limited Heritage Edition is steep on its price. It's essentially the same as a loaded Badlands but without the pastel colors and textures. However, what many fail to realize is the reason it's so expensive is because there making a limited batch of all the Heritage Editions. 1,966 (the first year of the Bronco) for the whole country is not a lot at all. And when you combine the other styles of Heritage Editions (B.S. Heritage and Limited Heritage, full-size Bronco Heritage and Limited Heritage) that's only 7,864 for the entire country which is still not a lot. Of course there's going be a price hike. So in my mind, it's worth it if you want that extra bit of exclusivity.

Oh and compare the rooflines of the LR4 and the Bronco Sport….eerily similar!! Land Rover wussied out with the looks of their new Discovery and Ford stole what could have been their show!

However, I just installed a platform and awning making it an awesome camping vehicle. Not sure if the platform will hold the Bigfoot though? Hmmmmmmm.

Surprised to hear that these are discounted in your area. They’re treated like Civic Type Rs here in the Blue Ridge area, with dealerships asking $46k for a ‘23 Badlands and $53-55k for a Heritage Limited (the blue is selling for more, of course). I was all ready to pick one up as our family adventure vehicle (to supplement my ‘22 WRX and my girl’s ‘22 GLI) but I ended up buying a ‘21 F150 Lariat Supercrew V8 FX4 with 15k miles for $43k. That’s a whole lot more vehicle for the price IMO and the ol’ Coyote is honestly pretty frugal on gas with the 10 speed if you drive like you have some sense. The truck is only 4700lbs, so just 25% heavier than the Badlands Sport but with almost twice as much power.

Does anyone ever actually use paddle shifters? As someone who has only ever owned manual transmission vehicles, I don't have much experience with them. My mom and my girlfriend both have cars with them, and I have tried to use them when driving theirs, but they feel pointless, and they don't give you full control, they seem to not allow you to shift to whatever gear you want if the CPU thinks it is a bad idea.

Yeah, if I hadn't been able to get my heritage limited for under MSRP I never would have paid that much for it. Although I do really like the look, most people would be better off. Just getting a badlands but yeah the the broncos sport especially the badlands I think fits 90% of people better than a full-size bronco. It's easier to drive easier to park. You get good gas mileage their comfy and they still look pretty cool and still amazing off road. And yes I think the robins egg blue is the best color. I didn't have a choice though. I just had to go with what the dealer had cuz I needed something ASAP and so I got the darker peak blue But a lot of people still say they like the color of mine. I will say the plaid seats are terrible but luckily in the heritage limited it doesn't stand out as much. And yes that 2 l it's not only pretty fast for what it is. It makes all its power down low. So accelerating is effortless. I barely have to do more than just feather the throttle even getting on the highway and I'll look down and all of a sudden. I'm doing 85 mph

I actually had a badlands BS prior without the copilot plus and it actually works pretty good too and I love the sunroof with the one touch open and close. I just wish it had a/c seats. Also had a full size bronco manual and it is so true 95% of the time the sport is better and what you need and if you get the badlands/first/heritage limited, it still does almost all the off-road stuff, it's just limited by ground clearance. And All that stuff you hear about the full size broncos is true: like over 60 You pretty much had to yell to have a conversation. The seals were terrible around the to you had to take turns a lot slower and the gearing was so low except for the final sixth gear when I was on highways. If I was in the mountains I had to just stay in 5th gear a lot. I either had to go 60 miles an hour or 90 miles an hour. But God I do miss driving that manual. That was such a good manual transmission. It was so easy And mine was a base so I didn't even have a rear locker and it's still went everywhere I asked it to. They really did a good job with the brake traction control-based system and I was about to put a true track in the rear but it was too tall for the rest of my family and they literally just barely could even get in it because I put bigger tires on it. So I sold it to carmax made $8,000 and got my heritage limited and everyone's happy.

First, I honestly don't think automakers are really upset when journalist show the test mule vehicles because it's 100% free advertising. If they really wanted to hide certain aspects of the vehicle they would run it underneath the skin of the current model and nobody would even know. when they put all of that "camo" on it it sticks out like a sore thumb and they are just asking to get noticed. Second, if they ever actually come out with a PHEV version of the Bronco Sport I would get that right away. However for one reason or another Ford doesn't seem to want to come out with one. I know it's been rumored but seeing as how the Escape has one but the Bronco Sport doesn't it's weird. Also, there isn't any excuse whatsoever for Ford still having the old infotainment on the Bronco Sport. Even the current gen Escape has the bigger screen & their latest version of Sync 4 and the price points roughly align so they should have the updated tech.

Road & wind noise is not bad at all! I own a 2023 Bronco Sport Badlands and also a 2015 Focus ST. Ride is better than the Focus (expectedly) and it's just about as quiet. Takes bump & difficult roads way better which again, you'd probably expect with the tires & suspension. Maybe slightly louder but not much. And for road trips & highway driving, it's really nice.
