I'm really impressed with the locking rear diff. Most manufacturers would have given it some useless Rock and Dirt mode and called it good.
@jaysworld53785 ай бұрын
Is it really a real rear diff lock though? Looking at Ford's website and going through a build for '24, what I see advertised is a Electronic Limited Slip Diff, is that what that button turns on and off? If there really is a real electronic rear diff locker, I don't see it mentioned on their website.

😂 Major mistake guys. You should’ve tried Ford Trail control on which is equivalent to crawl control by Toyota. I use it all the time in greasy situations rock crawling and on Sand dunes, it works like a charm. and I agree the tires are not that great.
@Weatherby40610 ай бұрын
Did you try it with traction control on at any point? Iv watched tfl do this with Toyotas many times which essentially shuts off A-trac which is needed for this kinda situation.
@JRs-guitars10 ай бұрын
Kind of painful to watch. But tires can make a huge difference, and if you're paying the timberland price...it should include better tires.

They did this same hill in the expy limited trim easy, crazy how tires can affect performance so much.

I have an 03 expedition Eddie Bauer edition. It came with 4 high and 4 low 4 auto. Has the tow hooks all around but they are black. I’ve taken her on the beach a lot. Thought about getting the timberline to be better sooted for mild off roading. I’m not too happy with the motor in mine. 5.4L triton motor has some known issues. I did add Falken wildpeak AT3 tires. They’ve been great

Seems like you WANT the traction control on if you want the maximum slow speed torque shifting. You turn the TC off if you WANT wheelspin. But I dont know the details of Fords system.

Anyone else wondering why the front 2 wheels are not spinning at all in the first of offroading to get over that little hill?
@pcasso8710 ай бұрын
Should have used rock crawl. Sand and mud and ruts allows more wheel spin.
@TexasTruckChannel10 ай бұрын
Rock crawl is not a drive mode on timberline. But we hear you.

The last expedition TFL tested last year didn't do very well. 4wd overheated and stopped working. This 9ne has a pretty crappy traction control system. That front tire wasnt getting any power.
@BorellaFamilyAdventures10 ай бұрын
That was years ago. They retested the same one and and then a Timberline and they both did amazing.
Is it really the tire? Need to show with other tire for proof. Big Fail for the Timberline.

Yes, check out our other expedition hill test.

Lift and better tires and better drivers would change things. But for that money idk. Also it’s a long wheel base and they tend not to do as well as shorter ones

@FILIPINOTUNER3 ай бұрын
With Fords on slow hill crawls like this, you want to leave the traction control on. To back my claim on this, watch the last clip at timestamp 3:13 in my Expedition off-roading video. It's on worn street tires and I didn't do any left-foot-braking. All I did was hold the throttle pedal steady.
@haroldbeauchamp377010 ай бұрын
So the rear diff lock did nothing? Ford has a dud here. Timberline is basically an appearance package at this point. I’d stick with the regular 4x4 model and avoid the challenging stuff.
@deejayimm10 ай бұрын
Yea, it locked the two rear tires together, neither of which were grabbing any traction. You can literally hear them just going over the terrain, not trying at all. A locking diff and low range is not "basically an appearance package" lol.
@haroldbeauchamp377010 ай бұрын
@@Profile00000 I saw no proof on this video that both rear tires were spinning together. I will immediately agree with you if you can refer me to a point in the video which proves both tires were spinning together. There are other videos that show that the system overheats and doesn’t work properly.
