You are right, most “simple” questions do not have simple answers. Many questions have more than one correct answer. People generally do not fit inside tick boxes. Having said that, some psychological tests, where you answer lots of questions quickly without thinking, can reveal an accurate understanding of what makes us tick.

Most people may see the glass as half full or half empty, but engineers such as myself know that it's neither. The glass is simply the wrong size.
