I remember when I was a little kid I wondered why it was called the Golf of Mexico and I thought it should’ve been named the Golf of America too. But I was a little stupid kid who didn’t realize that Mexico technically has most of it. (Technically)

Kind of makes sense to call it The Gulf of America since it is between both North/South America

Canda, the US and Mexico are all in the continent of North America. That's always been the silliest part of all this to me. The US claiming it owns the term "American" - even before this, they say things like "he's Mexican american" I'm north American American ? Wtf does that even mean

Technically all names are manmade because all languages are manmade. You can name any place any way you want and it won’t be wrong.
