bother, I wonder whether you know what this presenter is talking about. He is not advocating the concept of Jesus as God manifest in the flesh. If God is a singular God, how can you say Jesus is God? How many Gods are you worshiping?

I can give 10000 more texts in the bible where God shows himself in many ways then just a singular 1 supreme being , I wanna ask you in advance sir is Jesus YAHWEH?,is Jesus the Most High?

( Luke 1:32).Yehovah/Yahweh is the God of Abraham,Isaac,and Jacob (Exo.3:14-15),and in Acts 3:13 says "the God of Abraham,Isaac ,and Jacob 'glorify his son Jesus'",you see very clear!,Jesus is the son of Yehovah/Yahweh.

Also list all the places it means a plurality of one, to be fair, context determines meaning not your dictionary applied to every, also listen to the late Dr. Michael Heiser on this I think he knew his Hebrew as well as you do!

The jews also don't know how to observe Yomkipor, as taught in leviticus. they're literally going to hell in groups because they reject jesus as lord and savior. Woe to the Jews. Their seeking the christ that comes the second time expecting the occasion to be his first. Woe to the Jews who've rejected the living word and Messiah. It grieves me so much to see abraham's descendants go out like this.

What are your thoughts on Elohim, that is in reference to God in Judaism, having its etymological basis in ancient Canaanite religion and their pantheon? The cognate for Elohim in ancient Canaanite religion was El, and he was one god among many on a pantheon which they worshiped. I have been getting interested in ways our modern day religions have been influenced by beliefs of the past, so I'm curious what a christian such as yourself would say about the monotheistic all-powerful God of Christianity, Judaism and Islam having His origin in a polytheistic tradition?

No, but the Heb word typically translated God, in reference to Israel’s God Yahweh, is. Elohim is plural because El is the singular.

A numeral from H258; properly {united} that {is} one; or (as an ordinal) first: - {a} {alike} {alone} {altogether} {and} any ({-thing}) {apiece} a certain [dai-] {ly} each ({one}) + {eleven} {every} {few} {first} + {highway} a {man} {once} {one} {only} {other} {some} together. A dictionary does not give final definition to a word, the context in which it is used does. Scholars when translating are not including all possible usage, they picking according to context. Notice that the number One definition of echad is numerically one. In the context of Deut 6:4 the rest of the list would be a stretch.

@colonyofcells4 жыл бұрын
elohim is plural and early israelites were polytheists which was why the prophets of the old testament kept on complaining about the polytheists. To become monotheists, maybe the other gods were converted into angels, similar to how catholics converted the other gods into saints. Early christians had at least 2 gods: god the father and lord jesus the son of god. Most religions in the roman empire were polytheistic so early christianity with at least 2 gods was just normal.
@hargisP24 жыл бұрын
Plural is only a part of how it can be used. Context decides the definition. In Deut 6:4 it is numerically one. Only the bacsliden of Israel went to other gods. All pagan gods always came in group of at least three.
