Is the Hummer H2 awesome or does it suck?

The H2 Hummer is one of the post polarizing vehicles ever built. While many people view the H2 as an iconic and more livable remake of the original H1, many others view it as a disgrace to the Hummer name or an over the top attention catcher on a mission to destroy the planet. Here's what we think!

The h1 wasn’t used for military. That was the hmmwv. The h1 and h2 are both similar in that they were both built by AM General for civilian use with General Motors parts.

Mine's a daily driver and very comfortable. The seats are awesome! You wouldn't want those vents operational. Water would run on top of motor and alternator. That would be bad. They work well to open the hood. Originally it was going to have thermostat controlled articulating hood louvers but they must not have figured out how to open/close them and/or cost so they became just a plastic styling cue. Some other cool features that were planned for the H2 in development were a power operated soft top, a Central Information Center including GPS. A night vision system, Oscilloscope green gauges, a three-tier loading cargo area. Under and above floor capacity. Obviously that stuff didn't make it. But also keep in mine, the starting price of 49k in 2002. Now you forgot to mention one of the most annoying things and that's closing that hood where those straps always get in the way. An easy solution that no one apparently thought of was to reverse the mounting and have the strap stay on the body and not the hood. That cut out in the back is for the tire inflation system if you have air suspension. I deleted my air shocks and converted to springs but I still have air if I need it, pretty cool feature. I agree 100% on the shifter. I mean how much would an Al gear shift cost? Wish there was a 3rd party aftermarket replacement. The H2 can do about 80% of what the H1 can do at half the cost. How can you complain about that? It's not a military vehicle. It's a civilian SUV version of the M998/H1. Yeah the fuel eco sucks but so does any big truck. 15K? Damn I paid about half that for my H2. Excursion VS. H2??? Both. lol. EV HUMMER? I hope it doesn't suck. Sounds like it's more like a HUMMER badge for GMC. The H2's were made at AM General. They should go with tougher body panels like Cybertruck. Dent resistant and bulletproof, now that would be cool.

It does not suck at all, it is one of the coolest cars out there, also everything she says is right from Doug Demuro's video. It gets the exact same fuel economy as my older 2006 Esalacde (That I owned 10 years ago), visibility isn't bad either. She just makes crap up and knows nothing in cars. She doesn't even know what TC stands for... not professional at all...

The hood handles are functional and assist in opening the large clamshell hood, as well as a style queue. The extra lights are for better off-road illumination at night. Some people like badging on vehicles. The rear seat is collapsible and removable. The insert in the back is for an optional air connection so you can inflate your tires after off-roading from the Air-ride suspension compressor. TC2 is Traction Control 2, which allows the wheels to spin more than regular traction control for driving in snow and mud. That's an aftermarket stereo deck that you can swap out for something you like better if you want very easily. The gear shifter seems flimsy because it's a 14 year old vehicle that has obviously been daily driven. There are civilian Vehicles today like the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser that gets 12MPG, if you can't afford to operate it then you shouldn't have it. Hummers were never fast, they weren't meant to be, they were designed to go everywhere, not to go fast. It's not GM's fault that the lady here is vertically challenged with t-rex arms. It has mere 6 inches less clearance the H1, which also happens to be the same distance she lacks to reach the rearview mirror. This H2 is pretty bare bones in terms of the options and would have retailed for about $40,000 off the lot. Her gripes were pretty small and uninformed overall though and it shows. I think a 2nd generation Hummer H2 (08-09) would change her tune with a bigger engine, 6 speed transmission, and heavily overhauled interior. I'm excited to see the Hummer EV and what it has to offer. 😘

Thank you for telling the truth . this is not an h1 it's an h2 . People hate on it because they don't know . I drive a cement truck at work . The front hood is identical to my work truck . I hate when people don't know why the grab handles are there . Also the tire inflation doeant need to be on there . We have are compressors everywhere . The h1 was for over seas desert and long distance in dangerous areas . So thank you for seeing this is a vehicle not for clueless people .

This is a BASE model. The Adventure package would include an air compressor in the back. The empty space in the truck she pointed out would turn the compressor on or off. The button in the front is not for tire pressure...it is called TC2. It's an additional traction mode for Mud, Snow or Sand for additional traction. The space below that is empty, would allow you raise the Hummer up for additional ground clearance if needed. I would also get a rear mounted tire to keep that space in the trunk clear. If you buy a Hummer H2, look for a Adventure package so you can get the full capability. As a Hummer H2 owner, I would not come near an electric Hummer. Good video though...hope you find a good Hummer to buy. I own an Adventure package and love it!

Looks like a fantastic place to drive your H2! I've got a 2007 H2 and love it, some negatives of course, but overall its highly capable and drives very well when properly maintained - keep the fluids fresh and keep up with all maintenance and it won't let you down.

The main word that lady said was "stupid" why couldn't see say "weird" or "Usless" because the hood vents and helicopter hooks are just useless and fake. But still this video won't stop me from owning a Hummer H2, no offense but she probably doesn't no anything about Hummers, they guzzle gas, their heavy, expensive and parking them isn't easy. That's why I still like Hummers!

Due to the width, the marker lights are required. The badges are a bit much. Mpg isn't too bad for constant 4x4. Looks like a great starter off road vehicle project with much needed suspension upgrades. Steps aren't gonna effect clearance much, if at all. Especially with a 2 inch body lift in the rear air bags. Shifter, plastics...agreed, but who cares? That's little stuff. It's a tough ride with cheap maintenance. I'm getting one. These bad reviews on KZbin have given me no realistic concerns.
