Some actual conversations about tuning. Amazing ❤

Sharing this kind of knowledge is really helpful, even if you won't reveal all the secrets. Sharing the information both of you have gained over the years is what helps the whole field move forward, busting myths and preventing others from making the same mistakes over and over again. Thank you Nick and Matt!

Interesting. Thank you. i'd love to see even more in depth knowledge based videos or discussions. for the past two years or so i was looking for information about tuning and why the things are how they are but i couldnt find anything except a few bits here and there really. Your videos really let me connect the dots and fill in alot of missing information. thanks again.

The single moving mic VS microphone array debate can really be boiled down to a discussion around performing accurate acoustic measurements in a reverberant space. The test standards I'm familiar with either suggest a moving microphone, such as a rotating microphone boom as you'll see in reverb rooms testing, or a multiple fixed microphone measurement with a very limited frequency resolutions (1 octave bands) for moderate sized rooms, it might be higher for a small array at the driver head location. I'd be curious to see a comparison of moving microphone vs array in the same car. Where smoothing is applied to both methods of measurement until they agree. This would give some indication of accuracy for the array method and the upper bound of its frequency resolution and bandwidth. I would expect that they begin to diverge as you increase the resolution. Also curious what level of accuracy JL claims to have with their system? Same test could be performed for a single fixed microphone (headrest AF method) Vs moving mic. I guess 1/3 or 1 octave might be Ok at best...

I made the mistake of using too many all pass filters.. RTA showed it correct after measuring but it sounded like the soundstage moved further to the right

Random question, if one was retiring from the Navy and wanting to either get into a higher level install shop do you have any recommendations as far as either in Colorado or over in Europe? It's kind of a dream to work in this line of work after I retire from the Navy.

@ResoNixSoundSolutions maybe not for some or most. But I've been very passionate about it my entire life and would love to learn all the skills to take my own builds to a higher level. I don't need to earn a lot after I retire just making a normal wage will help me be able to live comfortably.

@@honeybadgerwrx I understand that, but it is not a career that has longevity due to the nature of the industry and the way things are going with vehicle manufacturers.

@@ResoNixSoundSolutions i see, then I guess the only way to learn is to become a PSsounds patreon and learn from those in depth videos then I guess?

@@honeybadgerwrx that would probably be your best bet. Working in the industry doesn't teach you shit, as seen by the fact that 99.9% of shops out there couldn't do a system that truly sounds great to save their life.
