Coming back to this video months later I realized as far as tuning there’s a lot of really good information being shared most of it is going to go over people heads though. On the surface gain structure or keeping your system linear sounds easy but for folks trying to do their own tuning this is something that will be easily overlooked.

I am running a helix V12 DSP amplifier, with 11 channel high level inputs. I was pretty careful about speaker polarity, but several of the speakers sounded like they were out of phase. Is there a tool to make sure all the high level inputs, and speaker outputs, are phased correctly? I tried one of those cheap Amazon speaker phase testers that comes with a cd, it was pretty useless, a lot of the tests were not definitive.

I just tested a piece of my older amazon basics deadener. Got it before the test was done in that group. 70-80 mil on my cheap calipers nicer ones are out in the workshop currently. Ill have to look around I know I have some left of each size they sold and at least 2 boxes of the largest sheet they sold as I used those a lot back then. Can check those too when I get a chance. Havent gotten any in years so cant compare it to the newer stuff but my understanding is amazon doesnt just use one place to make stuff for their basics lines so there may be variations.

I have a different question: I have the Helix M Six DSP which has six channel amplifier. I intent to have a 3-way component speakers for the front and a pair of coaxial for rear. This setup requires 8 channels. I am planning to use the M six for the front mid-bass, front mid-range and rear coaxial speakers, while the front tweeters will be powered by a different amplifier such as Musway P2, this amp will be connected to the Helix M Six as an extension. Is this a good way? Will I be able to use the auto eq or the helix DSP tool to tune?

The single moving mic VS microphone array debate can really be boiled down to a discussion around performing accurate acoustic measurements in a reverberant space. The test standards I'm familiar with either suggest a moving microphone, such as a rotating microphone boom as you'll see in reverb rooms testing, or a multiple fixed microphone measurement with a very limited frequency resolutions (1 octave bands) for moderate sized rooms, it might be higher for a small array at the driver head location. I'd be curious to see a comparison of moving microphone vs array in the same car. Where smoothing is applied to both methods of measurement until they agree. This would give some indication of accuracy for the array method and the upper bound of its frequency resolution and bandwidth. I would expect that they begin to diverge as you increase the resolution. Also curious what level of accuracy JL claims to have with their system? Same test could be performed for a single fixed microphone (headrest AF method) Vs moving mic. I guess 1/3 or 1 octave might be Ok at best...
