I haven't seen anything that you have done yet that my old JD950 couldn't and in most cases hasn't done. As well as yard and landscaping, spreading gravel, fighting fire, brush hogging, It in its career also mowed grass for the US Corps of Engineers on every lake in the state of Oklahoma as well as many in Texas and Kansas. She mowed Lakes Ft. Gibson, Oologah Lake, and Tenkiller Ferry Lake for 6 years in a row (that was a great contract). But eventually age catches us all and now I get to live vicariously through your work.

Hi Tim, Hi Christie, We live on the East Coast just south of Whitby, England, where we are renovating and developing a small farm. After watching (all) your videos we invested in a 10 year old JD3036 with a loader which we love. It’s only done a few hours so is in great condition. We’ve now just bought a Case CX18C excavator, so we have our own Jonny and Casey in the UK

I like that you can open the clam bucket when dumping in a trailer. Seems like you can load it higher instead of dumping in. You also can open the clam fully and tilt it down using it to smash down tree branches in a trailer. Also while open tilt the clam and use it to push dirt to the other side of the trailer. Would it work better picking things up like you would with your hand?? Meaning open the clam fully then tilt the bucket down over your object. When you use your hand you don’t keep your thumb flat on the ground and use your fingers to grab something. Just a observation that I’m curious about working.

I've never seen anyone put plastic under mulch before. Won't that hold all the water? I get weeds can grow through landscape fabric, but I would think if you tried to do that on a hill, with a good rain all the mulch would wash right off. Anyway 👍for another good movie.

Tim, The rear tires on the 2038R are definitely wider than the rears on the 1025R. However the front tires on the 2038R look to be the same width or even just slightly narrower than the 1025R’s. So you and Cristy are both right! Overall the 2038R will do more damage than Johnny especially when doing loader work.

Tractor Time with Tim is there any specific reason why you chose the diverter valve instead of the third function valve system from WR Long? It’s ironic this came up today as I was at the local JD dealer this afternoon talking about availability of either a diverter or third function valve from Deere (I’m very close to ordering a new 2032R or 2038R). Deere offers a third function valve for the 3, 4, and 5 series, as well as one for the 120R loader found on the 1 series and 2023/25, but NOT for the new Gen 2 series tractors! The dealer assumes they’re working on it but has no time frame... However in the meantime, I want to have either a diverter or 3rd function installed right away as I plan to buy a grapple. Any advice upon one vs the other would be greatly appreciated!

@@profdave2861 I can't speak for Tim, but I own a 2018 2032R. I wish that I would have moved up to the 2038R. They are very similar, but the 38 has more torque and more PTO power than the 32. I am happy with my 2032 overall but the extra power would have made me "more happy." I also have the belly mower which was money not well spent. It works well, but I could have bought a riding mower for less money than the add on. I am adding rear hydraulics soon for tip and tilt for the box scrapper. Either way you will be happy. I also went with turf tires which I really like. I have them filled with fluid for extra ballast.

Tractor Time with Tim my tractor has a diverter kit with just one button, I find it harder to use then a true 3rd function with the 4 in 1 bucket. Advice from another channel: "Get the smallest tractor that can do your largest chore. It will also be able to do your smallest chore. ... If you get a larger tractor to easily do your largest chore, it may be too big to do your smallest chore." My decision is between the 1025 and 2025.
@danielsharon524
@danielsharon524 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting advice. Trying to decide between a 1025R & 2038R. Problem is I don't know yet what my biggest & smallest projects will be. 1025R seems too small but I may be doing a lot of residential work on smaller (¼-½ acre) lots so a 2038R seems too big. Personally, I don't see the point in a 2025R but I'm sure you have your reasoning. You lose the maneuverability of a 1025R & don't gain much in functionality. I even thought about a 2032R until I saw Tim's video with the New Holland & PTO driven hydraulic power pak which a 2038R PTO would (barely) drive and thought that capability alone made it worth the $ difference. The salesman @ the dealership knows the area I expect to be doing more of the work in & actually recommended a 1025R for what I want to do but the 2038R is only about 8-9" wider in the rear and not that big a difference in turning radius but such a significant difference in capabilities. For my own property a 1025R is already big but the decision really comes down to how many more jobs I could take on with a 2038R that I couldn't with a 1025R vs. how many jobs I couldn't take on because a 2038R is too big.

nice Vid as always Tim and Christie; i am curious about the mulch. is it shredded tires or dyed organic mulch? which ever it is it looks really nice an J2 looked like the perfect machine despite the wide turning.

Mulch better look...but black weed guard material under would have been better...heavy rainstorm gonna float that mulch...poke holes in that plastic......mulch blower truck would have eliminated a lot of tractor time...oops

Hey there I am in the market for a 2038r I have a small Excavating company I currently have a B 2301 Kabota great tractor has never let me down the problem I have is I have a 16 foot low profile dump trailer I am looking for a tractor that I can load from one side if needed my b2301 I have to swap from left and right to get the load in the middle of the trailer was wondering if you could help me out and let me know or even make a video dumping stone dirt etc. into your dump trailer just so I can get a visual I appreciate it and keep keep on making those videos 👍🏼👍🏼

First, you will love the 2038r. Having said that, the forward reach of the loader is one disadvantage. Kubota loaders stick out further forward from the tractor than the Deere loaders. I cannot load the center of my dump trailer with my 2038r.

I may be crazy and certainly lazy, but I would have put the mulch right over the stone. I'm sure the shovel operators wouldn't have argued.

@@Studio23Media IMO the first hard rain and the mulch is going to get washed right off that plastic. The stones might have helped keep that from happening, but opinions are like backsides... everyone has one.
@Studio23Media
@Studio23Media 5 жыл бұрын
Jason E Nah the mulch isn't going anywhere. You're supposed to put plastic down to help keep the weeds out. Though I'm not sure this is the right kind of plastic.
@jasone9
@jasone9 5 жыл бұрын
@@Studio23Media that was my point. You would use landscape fabric which is permeable to let water drain through it. Plastic will hold the water and in a hard rain will make the water puddle which will make the mulch float, because wood floats, and therefore could wash out, depending on the slope. Obviously it isn't all going to wash out, but will be annoying. Also clear plastic will not stop weeds from growing because it doesn't block the light. That is the purpose of putting a landscape fabric, or even a black plastic down is to block the light so weeds dont germinate and grow. That being said if the mulch is thick enough on top the clear plastic it will block the light and help keep weeds down. Of course after the first year generally the wind has blown enough weed seeds around that the weeds take root in the mulch anyway so back to square one.

The 2032/2038r is not at all like the 1025r. Much more horsepower and much stronger hydraulics. Awesome machine.

Tractor Time with Tim the 2032R has a minimum width of 47.1 inches and max of 55.6 inches the minimum width of the 2038R is 55.1 inches to a max of 59.9 inches so I would think that it would turn tighter

Tim is right. The Gen-2 2032R and 2038R are identical in every way except for the engine. Assuming both have the same tires they would both have the same length, width and turning radius.
@profdave2861
@profdave2861 5 жыл бұрын
EOSJOE you’re correct, as is Tim, in comparing the current versions of the 2032R (Gen 2) and 2038R. They are identical other than the engine. The variable widths given in the Deere specs are based on variations with tires AND include wheel spacers in the maximum width numbers. However, the older Gen 1 2032R (2016 and older) is a bit narrower.

Well, once again your video was ZERO help in deciding between a 1025R and a 2038R, lol. The 2038R seems SO much bigger in comparison but dimensionally it's really not and the capabilities are so much greater. Seriously, you do a GREAT job pointing out the pros/cons of each. Every video I go back and forth. Thanks! Would still love to see a mowing/turning radius test between the two.

I'd say it's easier to deal with a bigger tractor to do a job that would be best for a smaller tractor than a small tractor for a job that just needs more capacity

Seriously why would the home owner put down plastic before the mulch . Plastic is just going to hold water and rot the mulch even faster . Why not use landscaping fabric and let the water go thru . Weird .
