Surprisingly in-depth review. Also, I wasn't aware of this Monster Motor, Thanks! Seems like a viable alternative, given that the original 5292 now costs around € 70, used. Also a good thing that there are clear visual differences, so people will know which one they are buying. Still, I wish that TLG would start making the originals again, or something even more brutal (evil laugh)!
@marxpeklegotechnicdesign35 жыл бұрын
I consider the monster motor useable but nowhere near the power of the real deal. If used in lightweight cars it can do well, but once you really need the torque it will fail compared to real Lego. I doubt Lego will ever make fast powerfull motors again, kids do not like their hairs getting eaten.. but i do hope they will make something, just like you..

Good video. My guess as to why the monster motor was slower is that it has higher internal friction. I also noticed that you were holding the tachometer differently in each test, but I doubt that would make much of a difference.
@marxpeklegotechnicdesign34 жыл бұрын
Thanks. However.. the monster motor is a bit faster? but the torque and the protection is much worse. And indeed as long as you keep the tachometer still it should not make any difference in measurement. Off camera i used 3 different tachometer and results where all the same five or take 20-40 rpm
@marxpeklegotechnicdesign34 жыл бұрын
Now that i look at the video again... in the cars they are faster. But measured they are slower, i also noticed i kept the tachometer against the other spinning port, might have affected the speed there.. anyway.. get real ones or wait for buwizz to release theirs

How can you turn off the protection? Others have used buwizz ludicrous with rc buggy motors seemingly without this issue.
@marxpeklegotechnicdesign34 жыл бұрын
You cant it is there for a reason. Models that have no issues with ludicrous are geared lower and requires less power. It all depends on powerdelivery. You can almost always ease into lud. mod like i did on my buwizz speedrecord going full power too fast results in the protection tripping. It comes down to howmuch you ask of the motors. I do mention the price difference, but admitively i should have made its own section for it. Prices did drop for both of them since then tho, i payed at least double for the fake motor back then. For me: i pick quality over quantity any day for everything in life, but in this case, I want the best possible motor in my mocs, saying that; the original isnt the best option anymore, the buwizz motor is and that comes in at 30€. @@helgemyhre9530 i do mention the wire in the video, maybe fully watch it? and i think it is a mistake for both mouldking and buwizz, now the motors cannot be used as true replacements for the rc cars or the crane because of the wire. Fact remains that the lego version even after almost 20 years of use is a better quality motor, i'd be surprised if any mouldking motor would still function after those 20 years, same for the buwizz version. You mention 70-80 for a real motor but i have 22 and i have never payed more than 30euro for any of them in the past 7 years, some came even cheaper as the mouldking price from ebay. But for me its not about the price, its about performance, in low torque applications they can function fine, but for performance you need a real one or even better a buwizz one. Even if they are 6x more expensive, you can still only fit the amount needed, so you loose power. So atm i only get BuWizz motors, those are the best option now.
