I just bought a 9 year old Mazda 2 with only 51,000km on it from a retired couple who only used it to go to the shops and church. It is basically brand new. Was happy with the price of $10k. It is such a simple car and really brings you back to the basics, but you don't really mind it. There is nothing to distract from the essence of driving. It's light, zippy and enjoyable to drive. Looking forward to seeing how it goes over the coming years. I was recommended that they were great by my auntie who had one for over 200,000km. I'm glad I watched your review as it makes me pleased I bought one beforehand.

Yeah I bought one 3 years ago 40k milage I want to keep it until it dies pretty much, yeah it's a boring car in terms of tech wise but I didn't mind it either. Lot of these new cars have so many electronic issues it just makes it even more unreliable even the Mazda 2 2016 models dnt have that much tech they focused more on the mgh. Bad point I found with the Mazda 2 tho is the suspension is too stiff, you can feel almost everything and when going over a small pot hole it feels like your car is smashing into that hole. Which feels annoying but other than that for me I lm glad I bought it

I have a Mazda 2 skyactiv D sedan, 2016 here in Thailand. Brilliant car. Utterly reliable, Only part replaced was an O2 sensor in the exhaust system replaced for free outside of warranty and an alternator belt that started to show signs of cracking and for 30Aus$ I had it replaced. Drives really well and the 250Nm of torque gives it some overtaking pep. Handling is great and stopping power with 4 discs is good. Fuel economy is superb. Town driving for the wife and my longer stuff averages 4.5li/100km. Open road is 4.0li at a steady 110km/hr. Comfy to drive and have done 830km trips in one go. Front tyres lasted 65000Km. Rears only half worn.

I've owned one (from new) since 2012. Approaching 200,000km, and still running beautifully. The 5 speed manual is the best (much more fun!). The best value for money in a car that I've ever had. We will keep this one till it dies. The only issues over 11 years: the intermediate shaft on the steering became loose (causing a knocking sound when turning or going over speed humps), and an engine mount cracked (causing a bit of roughness). The steering wheel has cracked on the top of the rim (too much parking in the sun), and a cruise control switches are beginning to fail (the speed up lever, which probably reflects my excessive use...). Aside from that - no problems at all.

My family used to have a blue Mazda 2 hatchback. My dad bought it in 2009 and it was in my family for years. I even learned how to drive on it. Sadly, even though my parents promised that they will be passing it down to me, we had to sell it due to family issues at the time. What I loved about the car is the steering wheel and how it's so responsive. Whenever I turn the steering wheel, it returns to its position smoothly. Even after my dad bought a second-hand 2016 Mazda 3, it still couldn't compare to that old car.

The Mazda2 is such a great little vehicle, and a true world car. One that can be repaired (for cheap) wherever you find yourself. Yes, they’re not loaded with features, but they’re light, handle extremely well, and because of their light weight they’re truly peppy. Oil changes are a breeze as all the necessities are affordable, the drain plug (19mm), and the filter are easily accessible. Engine air filter change is straightforward as are the cabin air filters. Coolant change intervals are inexpensive as the first one is at 10 years, with subsequent changes at 5 years, and for any DIY’er, again, straightforward. If the Mazda2 is well cared for, it’ll last hundreds of thousands of kilometres. Because maintenance is so easy and inexpensive, there’s no reason to let it lapse - if you come across a poorly cared for example, move on and you’ll find a gem.

Thankyou for the amazing review ☺️ This is what helped me choose a Mazda 2, and so far she's lasted me longer than any car I've owned, and that includes my old swift. Perfect car to drive, beautiful on fuel economy and you have a nice pleasant drive with not a lot of road sound. Even though it's a really small car, I manage to fit a double pram, and surprisingly three carseats in it. I did feel like women drive this car more than men but was happy to see more male drivers towards the city as well so overall a great slick car that'll last a while, and is worth every dollar. ❤️☺️

Perfect condition and only 129,000kms on the clock cheap services, had to replace the radiator and the timing change but apart from that all good all parts were cheap too. And it drove like a mx5 hatchback it was honestly like a little rally car I had the manual as well and the shifts were very sporty and notchy feeling, steering was great too and if that was how a Porsche 911 drove I’d take it! 2010 5-dr Genki, bought used in 2012 with 20K on it, now 180K on the clock. Reliability isn't 100% - 3 years ago, I had to replace a tail/ brake light bulb: that's it. Should you buy one? Depends what you're after. It's a non-turbo 5-spd manual, has no fancy screens or cruise control or "connectivity" or "soft touch" trim and it won't do 10-second quarter miles. But if you want a good, reliable and cheap runabout, get the best one you can find.
@gman87962 жыл бұрын
Lol replacing tail?brake light bulb has nothing do to with reliability that's just the bulb it self. Something that can never last forever, it's like the fuse of a house light bulb going out. After 5 years it'll burn out because it just can't stay in forever every light bulb in the world has to be replaced unless it's a highly expensive one. It's why light tower lights are also replaced to keep them bright and working, fuses never last forever it's just in their nature to burn out. Perhaps in 2045 it'll become standard issue but not for now. If that's the only issue u had that scores a 5/5. Most cars like ford, volks, BMW and others have reliability issues but nicer tech. Japanese likes to keep things simple to make it last and save cash

Would love to see a video on the Hyundai Getz. I had a 2010 1.4L S model and sold it last year after having done 185,000km. Never any issues, reliable as anything

@@ReDriven ma man ❤️ wish I had bought the 1.6L for 1500$ more at the time as it added the better engine and ABS and all that. Would have saved me a tonne of accidents!

Same here except mine was 2005 1.5 and did 297000kms on the original clutch and never had any engine work apart from two belt changes. Such a fantastic car and was a joy to own. Now my whole family either own Hyundais or KIAs.

I wonder if what caused the problem with steering wheel and gear lever is from a product that the owner has on their hands?

I love mine, got one cheap here in the UK 2010 Sport 3 door. The only thing I don't like about it is the stereo.. its awful looking, I've looked at replacement android stereos, but mine is unique for some reason and won't work.. something to do with it having air bag lights next to the hazard lights. 9/10 very very fun car.
@mxsprille2 жыл бұрын
Just unmount the airbaglight from front plate and stuff it behind the android unit, you still have the airbaglight on dash. Done it that way in my 2009 m2, and it works like a charm.
@Pipboy832 жыл бұрын
@@mxsprille I done that, the unit wouldn't power on.. then they said I needed an additional canbus because i had an air bag light next to the hazard button .. They offered it for an extra £60 so I sent it back..

I have driven my Mazda 2 since 2011 and it has 220.000 Km. I changed steering rack, one oxygen sensor, the radiator and 4 shocks. That's it.

Good review! That being said, the interior of Mazda 2 shown on this review wasn't in good conditon. For barely over 100,000km, the owner hasn't taken care of their car (the exterior and mechanicals more than likey have been treated the same) The biggest isseus are the scratches on the passengers side dash, and the wear on the gearstick and steering wheel. Honestly you'd be better off buying the same model car in better conditon with more kays on the odo...

They’re good cars, if you don’t mind the CVT drone, otherwise the turbo has good punch and puts up a good fight against a Mazda3 SP25, both have great interiors, look sharp and drive well. Only thing is they’re comparatively rare in the used market, as the Mazda outsold them multiple times over, and it’s nice to have a mass of cars to choose from so you can pick the ones that have been cared for better.
