Fare enough I’m no fan of you either but I listened to your opinion.facts are we had 30 movie theaters here they are still closing. We are down to 2 and they suck. Funny i drive by both everyday always empty. And amc just announced they are closing here in Tulsa soon. I would have to drive so far to see a movie now that I wouldn’t even if I wanted to see one. @@kevinhurt5331 You're talking about an industry issue that has nothing to do with the MCU. I could share with you the numbers of ticket sales since 2018, and show you that even though they picked up since Covid, they are nowhere near close to what they were before. This has nothing to do with Marvel, Disney, politics, agendas, or anything Dave has to say. It has to do with the simple fact that people aren't going to the movies like they used to. Theaters are offering cheap monthly passes to compete with streaming services. Movies that are just released in theaters can be purchased for 20 bucks on demand. Movies only stay in theaters for a couple weeks before going straight to streaming services. Ticket sales are simply down, and the current economy plus inflation aren't helping. Dave isn't a silent majority, he's a loud minority, and this loud minority survives off of sensationizing issues rather than actual facts. The fact is, that even during covid, that even in this downturn of an economy, even when theaters are struggling all around, the majority of the last MCU films have still been some of the top grossing films since Covid, and DC films aren't even coming close.

I know the cost of movies in general are ridiculous these days and I don't go that often anymore. I do want to see the Marvels and might go tomorrow. Pretty solid audience score now in the high 80s, and critic's score is in the 60s, which is still a fresh tomato.

I started to worry after Thor : Love & Thunder and didn’t like Ant-Man 3 either. Am I going to see The Marvels? Eventually… probably on Disney+. However I think it’s funny how everyone is like “OMG! The MCU is over!” but are hyped about the Echo show now that the trailer dropped at the same time 🤣🤣🤣

I also found the new amazing spider man issues boring but I have been enjoying moon knight vol 9. Movies and comic books it’s all the same you just pick what you enjoy.

There is a wider issue at Disney... They either don't want strong male characters in their movies, and they have systematically destroyed the existing ones... Thor, Hulk, Antman. They are losing millions, and this is indeed a problem.

I'm going to respectfully disagree here. While there might be some character development that hasn't meshed right, this narrative in and of itself is problematic to the rhetoric that gets regurgitated on KZbin and social media off of those who do nothing but sensationalize these issues. There has been no "destroying" of Ant Man. The last movie just didn't pan out to what it could have been. Hulk has nothing to do with gender or 'not wanting strong characters," same with Thor, it's just the idea of putting way too much slapstick comedy in these films where it isn't needed. These films also aren't losing them millions. The majority of the MCU films that have been released since covid are stilll ranking in some of the highest grossing films. The bigger problem is the drop in theater attendance in general, and the data is there to prove it.

Ok, Avengers and all that was great, but there were multiple characters in the same movies playing off each other. Now that Marvel is building up to another larger event and introducing new characters, we are getting more movies and shows that focus more on one character than a big group of characters. Not everything will please everyone. I actually like all of the moves, yes some less than others, and I am really excited to see what's coming.

I disagree as a regular movie goer. I have never had it cheaper to go to the movies. I only pay $19 a month. I've seen 67 movies this year in the theaters. Until unemployment hits 8% or higher the economy is functioning. Now to the movies. All time movies #3 Avatar Way of the Water #3 in 2022, Top Gun Maverick #12 2022, Barbie #14 2023, and rounding it off Super Mario #16. Besides all 3 Avengers onky Black Panther was in the top 20 at #17 in 2018. So yes there are successful movies in this "new environment." Four in the top 20 are recent movies. May 11th was official end of covid. Even in 2021 or 22. Thats a year or two to crack the all time top 20 movie list. It goes to show with the right formula it can be successful. Like Barbie. It shows what a general audience is looking for. That's why Disney is freaking out in a way. They didn't buy these rights to flop movies. They know by the data of they can't hit top 20 with original characters. What do you think will happen if they go a direction that the general audience is not happy with?

The reason you only pay that much with your monthly pass is a prime example of theater companies doing anything to get people in their seats, so that example actually backs up my point. The fact that there have been successful movies does nothing to negate my argument. The fact is, numbers are down all over the place on a macro scale. Also, not one mcu film has been a flop. I also don't need percentages and numbers as a way of validating a 'struggling market.' The unemployment rate means nothing to those struggling and living in poverty, especially those working and still struggling, like my family. I'm a prime example. Can marvel tighten things up to try to better connect with audiences? Absolutely. I think their shock of seeing how disliked the new ant man was proves the room for improvement.

Before they came out, I had moviepass. It's what they needed to do to compete against streaming services. However you're wrong Because you said that people are not going to the movies because of the cost and economy. Which I proved wrong with 4 movies in the top 20 and movie passes lowering the cost. That's 4 less comics a month, or 2 $10 comics. If no one went to the movies. Then, none would crack the top 20. You're trying to say "Marvel did bad because no one went to the movies". Not true. Again 4 movies cracked the top 20. Avengers cracked the top 20. Black Panther #17. These other Marvel movies don't connect to the general audience. Those are just the facts. Your situation is not the general situation. This is nothing compared to 2008. Homes aren't in foreclosure, unemployment isn't 10%, and the market isn't at 7,000 points.

Here are real quantifiable facts from the raw data: Domestic Box office annual ticket sales (number of tickets sold) in 2018: 1.3 billion tickets sold. In 2019, it dipped to 1.2 billion. Then in 2020, only 200 million were sold (covid). 2021? 400 million. 2022? 700 million. And 2023? 800 million. You yourself gave the date for the ending of Covid, so to your own "facts," covid has been over, yet the box office ticket sales are WAY down, still even after the covid bounce back. This is raw factual data that is available to everyone for free on the internet. You're right that the monthly passes are to compete with streaming service, but again, that just adds to my point. People are chosing streaming services over theatrical releases. The fact that movies have on demand purchase options at homes WHILE still in theaters, PROVES that. The fact that movies spend just a couple of weeks in theaters before going to streaming services PROVES that. You're always going to have those handful of big blockbuster movies/franchises, that no matter the ticket price or the economy, people are going to pay to go see them on the big screen, but you can't twist my words and use those films to nullify the facts of the entire industry/market right now. And yes, it's not 2008, but again, you're taking my words out of context. You act like the housing crisis and the stock market actually impacts every day people so much, when it really doesn't. Who needed to get bailed out? The banks. People lost their homes because they had no right getting those loans in the first place. What is different today is the inflation rate and cost of goods and cost of living vs. wages. In 2023, the gap is MUCH wider for the working lower and middles classes than it was in 2008, and again, that is a statistical fact. I will always appreciate your honest feedback on my videos, but you know me by now. I will admit when I'm wrong, but here? I am not. And I will continue to provide real facts and data to everything I say.

@@scottbonata5145 by definition, we are not in a recession. We had a third quarter growth of 4.9% in the third quarter. I heard 2021 was going to be the end, then 2022, amd 2023. Now 2024. Next will be 2025. Nothing is even close to what it was in the 80s. Kids aren't doing nuclear bomb drills in school.

I went to watch the little mermaid with my girls even if I wasn’t super excited about watching a movie with singing every 5 minutes, I still paid for three tickets so they could enjoy a movie. My girls loved Thor love and thunder but I found it cringe. The MCU has been around for 15 years now so many people like myself who watched the first iron man movie as a teenager have grown up and had kids
