In case you are wondering WHY the suit melted his flesh, here’s a basic explanation: the suit has a healing protocol made to find damage and weakness and heal it. The suit eventually decided that human skin is entirely a weakness, so it starter to replace it with metal skin. Eventually, it dug wires onto Tony’s brain and controlled him like a parasite

This story is deeply terrifying on so many levels. Not only for the body horror, but also because of the mentality of Tony. The fact that he thinks the monstrosity he's becoming is a _good_ thing and strives to make everyone else the same. It's the same reason why the Cybermen from Doctor Who are so horrifying, except this is even worse since, while the Cybermen are surgically created, these suit monsters are a gradual merging process.

Iron Man writers must have a thing for this kind of stories. it reminds me of the whole Extremis virus thing. instead of directly augmenting someone, it rewrites the way the body can heal, while simultaneously changing the plans for healing the body, causing the state it's in to be considered one giant wound - that it then starts to "heal", with its enhanced capabilities, and eventually turns you into what it considers your "correct"/"healthy" state, someone augmented with Extremis

TBH, I feel like if Marvel marketed it well and made it stylistically distinct with different actors and frame it as just a separate universe, slapping the "Darkhold" label on them, they could REALLY do well for themselves if they made Marvel horror movies that didn't tie into the overall Marvel lore and could just be enjoyed as one offs. (since them being horror and maybe R rated or at least unsettling would make them non required viewing for big tentpole events lore wise.) Would love to see this get adapted, and they could use this separate series to fulfill fan casting wishes at the same time (like have Tom Cruise for this version of Iron Man)

i read them all and if i were to rank them it would be (from last to first place): alpha and omega (these are only here because you can entirely read them without the other comics and they serve as the beguinning and ending, you don't even need to read them for context, the story's literally just "characters reads darkhold, character gets currupted by it and gets a messed up story") #5: blade (the weakest one, honestly can't think of a single thing i liked about this story) #4: wasp (although its right next to blade its already so much better, although its still very weak) #3: black bolt (again pretty weak but has a nice twist (imo) that makes you wander what actually happened) (now i had to leave space between them to emphasize just how much better they are, these stories were all sold as "horror version of (blank)" but the only 2 stories that delivered on the horror were the next 2, the others are thrillers and mystery based at best) #2: spider-man (although i personally prefer this story over iron man, if i look at it critically iron man's is just better) #1: iron-man (the best use of the idea, "what if (blank) had a currupt origin story" and for some reason iron man is the only one that remembered to actually use the origin story, and it clearly worked) honestly if you want to read any of these i would just stick to the spider-man and the iron-man, if you really want you can check the others but theres a very noticeable difference in quality. and unless you wanna read them all you can just skip alpha and omega (imo they don't even a satisfying conclusion).

Between this and the short of a comic where a stranded astronaut loses his arms, then legs, then his torso, and finally his face and eyes as his suit consumes his body to keep him alive; I am convinced that I will NEVER put on a suit that can decinstruct my body.

@@optimusprimefanboy It's not harmful content. For one, these are actual comics. You gotta remember that. This is cartoon gore, which is totally acceptable for older audiences. So I'm guessing you're like, a little kid that stumbled onto this. Secondly, this guy does say it's pretty extreme. And it is. But this is what Marvel and DC puts out. Even their movies can delve into blood, violence, and gore. So is THAT harmful content? It becomes mainstream EVERYWHERE.

I remember in the earth x story tony was utterly afraid of the destructive potential he’d unleash if exposed to the terragin mists. So he locked himself in a giant mansion sized suit of armor that was air tight, regularly sterilized, and locked away from the world save for the iron avengers, and communication waves (also Scott lang and his daughter). If this was the result of what would have happened I would say he had every reason to fear what would happen.

This story sounds very familiar. There is a constant enemy in a show called Doctor Who in which humans create an 'upgrade' where everything inefficient is eradicated; weak flesh, brittle bones, interfering emotions. Essentially the cybermen became their own zombies, converting all to the steel bodies and iron emotions, until they had an empire.

Reminds me of another very similar comic, Iron Man: Rapture, where after getting an artificial heart Tony becomes obsessed with cybernetic enhancements and keeps cutting off parts of himself and replacing them with robot parts. Eventually he becomes Stark 2.0, with his brain implants having completely replaced the original Tony
