As a guy I want to say thank you for introducing me into reading labels. I had no idea about fabric qualities etc.
@helenanilsson56664 ай бұрын
As a woman, same. I've never been very fashion conscious, and I probably never will be, but at least now I can decode what kind of effect the different materials will have. Earlier today my dad proudly showed me the set of pillowcases and a large duvet cover that he had bought cheap online (very pretty, a deep red floral pattern on black background). Without even thinking I flipped the pillow case and read out "100 % polyester cold wash only". Just the day before he'd told me about how he remembered how bed textiles used to be washed in 90 C (after we had examined the washing machine to find the elusive 90 C setting - hidden under "cottons"), so as much as I felt like a jerk for saying polyester out loud I at least saved the lovely print from being boiled away ^_^;

@@wangjenniferr I tend to buy vintage or slightly older online and Thrift, but i don't know about the quality of the current pieces from these brands. I find some of the brooks brothers shirts to be good quality mostly the cotton twill shirts, i like the regent fit. I like the quality of Lacoste which i think is Poplin Cotton shirts for warmer weather it washes and wears well. Tori Richards Honolulu's Lawn Cotton summer print shirts are good quality washes very well. Untukit Pima Cotton Polos soft and seem to be good quality. Ralph Lauren I find a lot of their vintage pieces to be good quality. I like Costco's brand Kirkland Signature Pima Cotton T shirts they are good quality for the price but the fit/ cut of the t shirt isn't the best for my body type but i tend to wear them under a open button up. I also like vintage LL bean and Landsend and Eddie Bauer. I would say i have a harder time finding high quality Pants and shorts, T shirts and even socks are hard to find good quality. Maybe a topic that would do well is the best quality affordable t shirts for men and such topics like that.

JENNIFER WANG MAKING VIDEOS FOR GUYS LETS GOOOOOOOOOO
@michaellima62724 ай бұрын
Generally speaking, Uniqlo is my go to retailer because they are really good at the basics. That said, for some items, I do wish they would remove the use of synthetics. For example, I would love to see more sweaters that use only natural fabrics throughout the year. As for the super popular U Airism Oversized T shirt, I really wish they would make a 100% cotton version with same cut and fit. Love all the colour options but I hate the idea of consuming synthetic materials for casual wear. This is my biggest criticism. They need to be much more selective in the use of synthetics. I’d be willing to pay a little more for natural fabrics knowing that they are pretty good in their construction already.
@zubaidahjalil58474 ай бұрын
Agreed, and in my experience especially where tops are concerned, the inclusion of synthetics mean they trap and hold on to odour that is difficult to get out, which doesn't bode well for the longevity of the garment.
@BliilB4 ай бұрын
Wonderful video as always! Uniqlo is in such a weird spot for me, most of what I've gotten from them has had pretty great construction, but the material composition often puts me off as a consumer trying to reduce the amount of plastic in my wardrobe. I totally get why synthetics are so common in Uniqlo especially given the price point, but it personally makes it difficult to shop there at times. It's still crazy how consistent Uniqlo's quality normally is though, even compared to brands at much higher price points. Why's good construction have to be so hard to find 😩

Regarding the Super non iron shirt portion, the one's showcased in the video is actually the Oxford slim fit shirt, not the same shirt actually 😅 the oxford shirt is typically found in the casual shirt section, and is not advertised as non iron. One giveaway is the button down collar whereas the non iron shirts are not equipped with button down collars. Great video nonetheless

Uniqlo is really good for basics. You don't really get streetwear stuff, but it's perfect for casual or smart clothes. Also, gentlemen, don't sleep on women's section. My favourite light jeans are from Uniqlo women's. Especially with pants, you're giving up some pocket space but getting what are imo trendier pieces.
@dragonswordstriker4 ай бұрын
I'm one of Uniqlo's customers who frequent the men's section (and the children's section...) alongside the women's sections. I would love to see more men's clothing- even better if they are compared to women's equivalents, and if you can talk about the cut and fit! Some neat options for men are the selvedge denim jeans and the heavyweight crewneck t-shirts. The men's cotton crewneck sweatshirts are great. The ones I purchased over 6 years ago have raglan sleeves which I love and are still in good shape. For those sweatpants, maybe it's because if you want to wear it outdoors, there aren't as many options for layering vs tops. I can't see what else you could layer underneath other than Heat Tech leggings. I personally felt the women's supima t-shirts were more thin than the men's supima but I didn't look at lighter colours out of habit.

Great content. I do like Uniqlo’s philosophy but not so much their use of synthetics. I have a really nice black crew neck sweater from Uniqlo that is 100% cotton. This past spring they had their Milano crew neck sweater which I think is maybe 50% cotton so I passed on it. It felt like they went cheap on fabric and kept the same price point.

Uniqlo is a rare store to me since there wasn't one in my town for the longest time. When I visited a different state for vacation there was a Uniqlo store there, and I fell in love with their dark wash blue jeans that are stretchy. I learned they can helm them at the store so those pants look, and fit me the best. I blew a hole in them so I had to take my family back to vacation at the same place so I can buy another pair of jeans. Thats how much I love those pants and I am going to have to do it again.

Hi Jen, not sure if any other guys have said but sweatwicking and quick drying for sweatpants as mentioned in 5:49 is because of guys parts down there needing to be nice, dry and not too hot as guys are accustomed to being able to just be shirtless but not pant less. It's kinda like the opposite phenomenon of women who can bare all their legs but if their upper body gets cold their done 😂

Hi great video but I think you were looking at a diff button up shirt in store. Pretty sure that you were looking at the oxford button up in store, the collars are button down whereas the super non-iron are not buttoned down. But that's another problem with uni-qlo; a lot of their products look alike but have different fits/compositions. I actually recommend their non-iron shirts, they are as non-iron as the other non-iron shirts shirts i have that are 2x the price. Only thing is that you won't get perfect collar sizing and the sleeves tend to run a bit long.

I love the Buys for Guys! I feel that men are very disempowered when it comes to shopping and advice on quality. Everybody should know how to discern quality, and when certain materials make sense (although I personally still don't understand synthetics).

Love the video, because I've been wanting to get even more into Uniqlo as a brand now that my previous affordable brand is bankrupt... But can I make a correction? The non-iron dress shirt you showed online at 4:24 is not the same as the shirt you saw in the store at 4:27. You saw and showed the Oxford slim fit long sleeve shirt, which is not the same as the super non-iron long sleeve shirt. Of the latter, they really only make the baby blue, black and white one, which you can perfectly just machine wash and hang up to dry, with no ironing required. I own one of each color as a woman and have been wearing them almost entirely wrinkle free for about a year. The one you showed is just from their regular dress shirt line and doesn't claim to be non-iron. Sadly, they don't have them in the women's section, only the men's. So if the one you own is from the women's section, it's also not non-iron.

Like Dry-ex vs arisim. But they do have the pure cottons like spumina so that would be a nice option for the t-shirt video. Someone asked for a all natural alternative hmmm… look at muji I think. Uniqlo is weird, some stuff is really good for the price and other things are just painfully average for the price. I think for that "fast fashion" level and price, you can't beat Uniqlo. Sometimes I find sizing, as a bigger/more muscular type of guy, to be a little tough for me. Also, if you want to just grab one of their collab graphic t-shirts, they do not hold up and with only air drying I had issues with them losing shape really badly, this was a few years ago
