$200 sounds steep, but then again I am huntin' some rare tapes that are $70 to $100 range for a single VHS Used so 200 new is not bad sounding that way LOL I love DAS BOOT, Wolfgang Petersen is a visual genius and can pull at any emotion using imagery or type of film for that matter. Enemy Mine is another example of this in an Anti War Sci Fi fashion. Das Boot though, saw that at 11, and was no longer a boy. Thank cool friends Dad's VHS collections from the 90's for that, VHS will never DIE! Keep on huntin' Broski

Dude, no joke watching this video literally made me tear up because my story about my love for The Neverending Story is exactly the same as yours! If you remember when this was announced, I left you a comment about how upset I was that it was going to be this much money because I didn’t think it was gonna be possible for me to do it, but to my shock my mom said to me that she would get it as my Christmas present if I was willing to make it my only one this year to which I said yes! She didn’t make the decision until December 2 so unfortunately for me I actually didn’t get to open it on Christmas. It came a day late on the 26th. Still though just like you, the set makes me so emotional and literally makes me tear up that we got something so beautiful for such a wonderful film! When I was a boy, I literally used to go around telling people that I wish I could fly on Falcor particularly because of my cerebral palsy, and the fact that he could fly me away from which ever people were misjudging me just like he did for Bastian getting him even with his bullies in the film! I’m 10,000% going to frame the poster as well but hearing you talk about your plan makes me kind of wish that I could find the whole wall to do the same thing framing the art cards and the ones from the replica of the press kit would be pretty darn cool! What you mentioned is exactly the reason why I also don’t have a replica of The Orin so if you figure that out in a definitive way, would you please pass along that information so I can get myself one as well? I’m really happy that I remembered to bookmark this video in my watch later for after mine arrived. Thank you again for opening up! Take care, man! Remember to always do what you dream!

Well brother I’m glad you got one! Truly an amazing set. This movie means so much to many people, I think many of us had to have the same experience. I think framing the poster is a must, if you don’t have room to frame the cards there are big enough photo albums you could use, that way there would easy access and protected.

Awesome glad you enjoyed! Man I hope people start seeing why I’m such an Imprint fan boy haha. I see your point with the poster, so many original posters were folded for the theater I’ve had them framed and they look alright. If you really want you could see about having it linen backed that takes the folds out of posters and adds strength to it. A process usually not used for reproduction poster but should work.

One of the best feelings in the world is seeing a very limited/highly sought after item become available to buy and you complete the sale. If you were a kid in the early 80s this movie is pretty iconic. Hope they release a standalone 4k disc soon.
@80sMadeConsumer24 күн бұрын
I agree, it’s definitely a classic. I was a kid in the 80s and have been watching it ever since. I wouldn’t go all out like this for every film, but this was a must. That was my only negative about this set was there wasn’t a less expensive option, I would have gotten this version anyway. I could only imaging another company will be releasing this with in a year. Shout and Kino have put out a few titles that imprint did.

I personally don’t think it’s worth the price only because of how cumbersome that press kit is to actually read. I think I’d have preferred maybe a smaller version of this replica with all the writing actually inside of it…Like a real book! If they kept the intricate and high quality materials that they used to make this the same, just smaller and maybe include some new writing as well I think this could have been cheaper and easily still one of the best releases of the year. I guess I also just don’t get much out of the photographs. It’s nice that they’re in good stock and glossy but I’m not gonna frame them or anything and beyond looking at them once upon opening idk what I’d ever do with them. I know I’m being nit picky, I still think this set is awesome but $200 is a lot and I feel like for that money I’d rather it went into something like the kind of books that second sight do for their bigger releases.
@80sMadeConsumer22 күн бұрын
I see your point, I collect press kits so that was a win for me. Just very glad it wasn’t stickers or something goofy. I do think if anything deserved different versions it was this release. No doubt a second sight style release would have been good enough for me. If I didn’t have the room for it I would probably put the movie on the shelf and all the other stuff put in a closet. If this was the same size for many other movies I would have passed all together.

I pre-ordered it but then we had a postal strike. The price was crazy to begin with PLUS shipping PLUS import fees. THEN IMPRINT wanted another $50 to send it by courier. I'm looking at a total of almost $500. I asked IMPRINT to cancel the order and so far I haven't heard back.

I’m not sure I’ve ever seen this movie. I’ve heard a lot about this movie and you have definitely peaked my interest. If I could ever pick up a standard version I probably will. I can understand why you are excited since it holds a lot of nostalgia but $200 is too rich for something I just seemed to miss from my childhood.
@80sMadeConsumer22 күн бұрын
I get it and it’s a childhood favorite I have a ton of nostalgia for this one. You can get the Blu-ray for 10 bucks on Amazon, honestly a really good Blu-ray. Amazon has it for a rental. If you love it there is the German version on 4k for a fair price to import. The US version is shorter for pacing and has a different sound track.

I enjoyed 'The NeverEnding Story' which I bought on Blu-ray as part of a Blu-ray movie lot on eBay many years ago and I loved the soundtrack too since I saw the movie in the 80s and I have it on CD. That's certainly a luxurious set and the attention to detail is very impressive. :)
@80sMadeConsumer24 күн бұрын
It's cool that you got it as part of a lot, you never know what treasures you might find on eBay! The only thing is I wish there were some standard 4k releases something with no frills under 30. I still would have gotten this version, but more options for more people is better.
@TorontoJon24 күн бұрын
@@80sMadeConsumer, I agree. This deluxe boxed set is cool indeed, but it only makes sense to offer a more standard 4K release for an average consumer or collector at a more affordable price because not everyone needs all of the extra frills as wonderful as they are. :)

@@TorontoJon I don’t buy every big premium edition, even if money wasn’t a factor it’s not special if they are all the same. I passed on the Congo set, doesn’t even make my top 100 favorites. Honestly I think it is fairly priced for the shelf presentation and all the extra accessories. Especially if you’re planning to display a bunch of it. Labyrinth “Deluxe Limited Edition Collector's Set” is priced higher and I’m not certain it will be worth the price tag. But, all of this is for us insane movie folk. Someone thinks it’s worth it!
@80sMadeConsumer24 күн бұрын
I couldn’t agree more. I never did get the labyrinth or Dark Crystal sets, and Labyrinth easily makes my top 5 favorite fantasy films. I thought what they were offering was cheap filler crap and way over priced. They only added the glass ball and the crystal shard after everyone made videos. I made mine on Friday showing off what you were getting and on Monday that stuff was added. It felt like they were trying to gauge the community reaction. Love the movies but shout out no effort way over priced, even if you like all that extra stuff. Just my opinion. Obviously I’m a huge Imprint fan boy and if they had done the same thing that shout did, I would have passed on this too. I think the knocked it out of the park.

I can’t disagree. A less expensive set would have been welcomed, still would’ve gotten this version.
