Excellent review and consistent with my test drive of a new TLX today. This vehicle is extremely well put together and it has some of the most comfortable seats ever. Materials are high-quality, it handles well and the styling is sleek. If the most serious drawbacks are flimsy paddle-shifters and no USB ports in the backseat, I’ll take it. Everything else has been well thought out in this car and it’s definitely on the short list for my next auto purchase. And unlike some of the folks on this forum, I actually found the track pad logical and easy to use.

As an owner of a 2020 Acura RDX ASPEC and a 2018 BMW 340xi Msport that is coming off lease soon, I was hoping the exterior design might be a little better. The Acura RDX is good looking all around. This has some funny lines, curves. It’s a bit busy. The dashboard has this tiered look that reminds me of a Chevy Malibu in the right and left corners. There’s too many different materials and versions of plastic and graining. I am hoping the Type S cleans this up to some extent. The old exterior design of the TLX was clean and the perfect size.

Ex TLX owner here, returned mine months back, waiting for this to come out, actually the Type S. I've been following this car and it's development for 2 years. It's a massive disappointment. Car is as small as a G70 in the back, smaller than the last gen TLX, but almost 3" bigger in every direction?!?!? 4000lbs for a 4cyl, bad on gas and marginally better than the V6 is replaced, the touch pad infotainment is a mess, the shifter in the dash is push button yet again and why is it in the dash like a CRV? No digital cluster, only the advanced gets a hud and power folding mirrors and a 360 camera, the screen is too far away making it seem very small, the backup camera takes up a third of that tiny screen...why not use the entire screen? the red seats with the grey alacantara centers look really odd, no wireless android/apple, no new tech at all inside. The A-Spec is basically just a base model with painted black wheels,grill,trim and a spoiler now and doesn't even have skirts or unique wheels anymore, the 4cyl sounds weak. Then there's the Type S - a brand new V6 with a "estimated" 355HP...weak, and they stripped all the features and tech from the advanced trim out of it, and it doesn't have a hud, 360 cam, heated steering wheel, remote start, power folding mirrors....and more. Basically the Type S is the A-Spec with a V6. Outside looks good, but the plastic cover on the radar is a eye sore, the wheels are boring, no fogs on Type S, you can't get paint matched splash guards anymore and it's more $$$ then ever. Why does Honda keep doing this? you don't make your already small car, smaller! you just made your car less appealing and practical to more people. The thing is gigantic outside and tiny inside...what? Where's the new tech? where's the digital rear view mirror, digital cockpit you kept bragging about, active exhaust, why does the A-Spec not get the good suspension....WHY? Your packaging and trim levels make ZERO sense. Why would you get this over a G70 with a 3.3t in it for same or less money and the G70 has the same back seat space and more tech?

Audi Quattro It’s not fast, but 5.7 seconds 0-60mph is no slouch. It’s quicker than a new base Maserati Ghibli, Quattroporte, and Levante. And yes it actually does accelerate to sixty in 5.7 seconds due to the power, torque, and SH-AWD, just look up the review of this car on Alex on Autos KZbin video.
@DMCarReviews4 жыл бұрын
@@BarikSingh It won't be 5.7s. The Accord is around 6s with much less weight and the same power. I will hopefully test one myself with a dragy soon, and want to see what Motortrend posts. Judging by the slow and leisurely accelerations I have seen in the video, definitely does not look anything like 5.7s.
@BarikSingh4 жыл бұрын
Audi Quattro It may not look like 5.7 seconds but that’s what it does. Just look at the video from Alex on Autos he does thorough tests and he accurately shows it hits sixty in 5.7. The Accord 2.0t does it in 5.8 and that’s because it has less power and torque than the TLX. Also, think about it, Honda wouldn’t make the TLX slower than the Accord that it’s based on because no one would buy the more expensive car. The Accord has 252hp and 273lb compared to 272hp and 280lb in the new TLX. The difference is the TLX has slightly more power and torque, but mainly is down to better traction as the SH-AWD helps the TLX get off the line better while the Accord struggles a bit more in comparison due to its FWD configuration. Just check out the video, you’ll understand: kzbin.info/www/bejne/h4C6pZShoMSWp5o

I can get a G70 3.3t loaded here in Canada for what a 4cyl TLX top trim cost easily. Hmmm, same back seat size, but I get a v6TT, 0-60 4.5 seconds, I've driven it, it's a really good drivers car, and well equipped and soon coming with a digital cluster. Plus no maintenance costs for lease term or 4 yrs. That's a thing I'd need to consider before getting this and having just had a Acura for 4 yrs, top trim TLX, the car didn't hold its value, had reliability issues and some serious ones, and Acura service was not kind. I've had many many Honda's and I was shocked. First car I could not trade early on lease and I got stuck with it for 4 yrs term. Luckily it was mint and had no issues returning it...49,000kms after 4 yrs. SHAWD is excellent in snow though, and it was a great highway cruiser. I'll miss the v6

I'm typically anti-american, and was saving for a Type S. But the CT5-V has certainly got my attention. Active exhaust, hud, pano roof, digital cluster coming in 2021, Wireless android/apple 2021, Alexa integration, proper shifter where it is supposed to be, wireless charger that even has the ac cooling it!, v6 growl, better infotainment and screen placement, 360 camera is 10 times better and multi view, remote start on fob, folding mirrors, lsd, rear wheel drive or RWD biased AWD, automatic trunk open with your foot, some neat proximity lighting with the LED door handles and stuff, sensible rear seats, massage seats, better looking wheels, vented/heated seats, digital rear view mirror, built in dash camera, magna ride, the list goes on and it's very good looking and comes with 4S tires. It is not however price competitive with the TLX, and not great on gas. Neither is the TLX for a 4 cyl and each reviewer for the tlx says 22/29 or 22/31 so I'm not sure which is correct, I believe it 22/29 as more say it

maybe you should go see it before you claim this. This is the top model. The rest are not as impressive, and this has some major flaws.

It's got Double Wishbone and nearly 280hp. It's an Alfa Giulia but reliable and for $20k less.
@Spiritcr1jsher4 жыл бұрын
@@rishavroy3756 it's the $47k top model . Thats expensive enough.
@M4B21S884 жыл бұрын
Logλn L according to you its an Alfa Giulia because it has 280 hp? How about its just the fancy accord. Jeez
@Spiritcr1jsher4 жыл бұрын
@@M4B21S88 but it doesn't share a chassis, suspension, interior , features at all with the accord . Just the 20L turbo . The accord has no awd and no 3.0 turbo .

Love the dash on this TLX. Acura once again has my interest. My first four cars were Acuras. I pretty much left because they quit making coupes. Crossing my fingers they will return to that with this new styling. The NSX is a "pinch" out of my price range lol

You should start showing us how the lights look on, with high beams on and off just to kinda get an idea :)

Great video as always! With that power though you’d think it would have a better 0-60 time? 6.4 seems pretty slow for what it has and what it is.

I love the looks and everything...but that price🤨...and accord with the same engine setup would gap this thing.

Saw the 2021 A-Spec last weekend at Mid-Ohio during the IMSA weekend up here. Pearl Red. It was super sharp. Really pretty and shiny. Also saw a blue 2021 Lexus IS350 F-Sport in the Lexus hospitality area too. It looked really nice too. Will still probably get an A-Spec since it is an all new platform inside and out. I am an early adopter!🤣

Wow this has a Technology package and no back seat USB’s? Did they forget @ Acura what modern passengers want & need out back? Nice interior otherwise. Joe really brining the energy in this video! Great job guys! Nice redesign from Acura.

I hope this is just the first step into getting back where they were. It made no sense how they dropped out and became soccer mom choice of the decade while Infiniti was still sticking to their guns. Good review as always!

It has a forward-facing camera, but no 360 view when you put in reverse?

How does it compare to the Cadillac ct5 premium luxury?
@Renatiux847 ай бұрын
How's the sound proofing? Can you really hear everything from the cabin while driving? I saw somewhere that was a major concern.

So Joe do you prefer the trackpad to the previous generations dual screen? Thanks.

Nice surprise. Expect the zonk for no USB's in the rear seat area. I wonder is carbon fiber a possible option instead of the wood grain. I would choose the Acura TLX over the Lexus ES. And I agree about what you said about the manual. Maybe you could do a head to head between the F sport ES, and the A SPEC.

agreed; it was closer to a bad yelp review than anything.

entertainedbyidiots yea. They keep comparing it to the concept. Concept this, concept that. But then on Acura’s video, they said they can’t wait for the Type S even though the Type S has no aesthetic changes? Okay broskie haters.

Another excellent comprehensive review: Gorgeous car. I sold Acura and this or the A-spec should sell well. Most Acura buyers I've sold like a "good level of power, but not too crazy". This car fulfills that order perfectly. Acura is certainly not the first place to go for speed or track addicted drivers. And this model hits their Buyer Demographic sweet spot dead on 🎯.

My last 3 cars have been Acura 2014 RDX 2016 RDX andI have 2018 tlx advance. I am number one on Type S list at my local dealer. They notified me 2 days ago they had their first 2021 tlx advance. I test drove 2021 tlx advance yesterday after waiitng a year to see it. Not for me 4 cylinder is not enough power. The new infotainment was hard to see in sunlight. Went right to Genesis dealer and drove the G70 3.3T Sport. Ashamed to say G70 will out preform the TLX Type S. Very disappointed, next car will not be an Acura.

Great review. But, for $47k, should one get this or the RDX? Interior looks pretty much the same.
