Back in 1988 in Las Vegas, I bought my first motorcycle: a 1984 Honda CM450. I ranged from San Diego and Death Valley to SW Utah to North Pole Arizona. A Honda 500 is big enough to take you anywhere there’s a road. You might want to upgrade a stock seat to something more comfortable for long distances though. Don’t know about the current seats. I had a fantastic time on my 6-speed! Went from Death Valley (in March when it was 70 degrees; I wasn’t stupid) to 7700 feet elevation at Mt. Charleston when it was 114 degrees in Las Vegas. Honda makes a solid, low maintenance bike!

Is that a serious question??? The top speed is right around 101mph (so far at least) at bone stock with a 200 pound ruder on it. Also it's a 6 speed transmission. But a 500 is plenty of power for even an experienced rider. Idk anyone who rides around at 100mph even on the highway. It can sit at 75-80 very very easily. No buzzing or any of the Rebel 300 problems.

The Honda CB500F, a Real Naked bike, at about the same price, will: 1) Be faster, about 6 HP more at about the same weight. (46 vs 40 hp) 2) Handle better. Much better suspension. Better on the Highway too! 3) Brake better. Much better brakes. 4) Be easier on your bum and nether regions, meaning longer, touring trips since you can move around the saddle, it is thicker and it has a passenger cushion included for those occasions. 5) Have a longer time between refill stops, with a 50% larger fuel tank. 6) Therefore be more suitable for the highway. 7) Be outgrown later than sooner. 8) Be pleasantly informative with a tachometer included. CONS: 1) It lacks on the looks department. Nakeds are UJMs. 2) The taller seating arraignment may not be suitable for newbies, more so the shorter ones. I happen to be right under 200 lbs and 5'10" which just happens to be the Average American Male Adult Size and Weight. I tested the Rebel 500 and it is way too small, unlike the naked Honda 500. I like the Kawasaki Z400 a little bit better.

I am a Woman...63yrs and short, 5’2”. I like to be able to set both feet firmly on the ground at a stop. Not a lot of choices available in the cruiser styles. I started out on a Honda 185 in 1978. Got away from riding for awhile then bought a Kawasaki 500 in 91. Sold the Kawasaki and bought a Harley 883 Sportster in 2009. Getting ready to sell the 883 and buy the 2020 Honda Rebel 500. It’s 150lbs lighter than my Harley, that and the low seat height are what sold me....also it’s an awesome looking bike. There’s probably no need to make a “woman’s video” just include us in your narration, we like riding motorcycles just like the guys and appreciate your thoughts.

Would it commute a 25 minute highway ride where the speed limits are 80mph. At 4500 elevation.... i know it will. But up hills will it struggle a lot? Being 6 foot 4 and about 190lb with gear
@jessekus17655 жыл бұрын
Justin, I have had a Rebel 500 for about 2 years. I have taken it up the twisties in the roads in Northern Thailand. I am 6'0" and 200 lbs. It can definitely get up to 80mph. I have gotten my top speed of 160kph (about 100mph) on the freeway. Depending on how fast you want to be going up hills, and how strait they are, it will struggle accordingly. I gave the Rebel 300 a test drive and took it through the hills. It definitely fell short. My Rebel 500 has taken care of me just fine, but I am not grinding pegs. Good luck with your search. It has been an amazing bike for me.
