@@mike_johnson87 That’s my point. Volvo makes safe, and kinda boring family vehicles. They make 3 SUVs that are quicker than the “Muscle Car” Charger. So, what does the Charger have going for it that justifies its price tag? The Fartsonic exhaust? 😂 Starting MSRP is $59,595 + $2k destination = a real MSRP of $61,595 for a zero option RT. They aren’t eligible for EV tax credits if you buy one, only if you lease it.

The problem with this Dodge electric car is that most people call it a Charger, but Stellantis named it the Charger Daytona. To me, it would be better for Stellantis to just call it the Daytona EV and save the Charger name for a future internal combustion car. Stellantis doesn't seem to understand their customers, the emotional attachment people have to the classic Dodge Charger, or the difference between a musclecar and a sports car. If Stellantis is serious about building an electric sports car, then they should build an EV version of the M4S. The Dodge M4S designation stood for "Mid-engine, 4-cylinder, Sport“. The M4S was designed to achieve a drag coefficient of .236 with a top speed of 200 MPH using a mid-engine 4-cylinder. I believe that a new M4S Dodge "Interceptor" could be a great car if it used a similar architecture to the McLaren P1. I would like to see an EV Dodge Interceptor with a mid-engine 4-cylinder and electric motors for the front and rear. If Dodge built an EV where you can drive only on the internal combustion engine or only on electric power or send the combined power from electric and internal combustion to the wheels it could be a great (fast) car. The modern trend of using internal combustion engines as electric generators is ridiculous. If an internal combustion engine doesn't run for long periods of time (to reach normal operating temperature) at least once a month then it doesn't get hot enough to burn off moisture and it damages the engine. McLaren got the EV formula right with the P1 and if Stellantis executives were smart, they would copy the idea but build a sports car that is less expensive than the P1.

13:27 the external "exhaust speaker" sounds soooo bad. The audio quality sounds compressed as hell, and the transition between modes where the audio just hard cuts out just makes it sound like its loading a different audio file.

I’d like to see some demographics on Charger sales. I think where a lot of them get sold and end up residing, aren’t places that are going to support an EV so well.

Agreed, not many tax payer subsidized apartment complexes have charging stations.

Instead of bringing in a Peugeot EV they turned the charger into a Peugeot EV….😂

They should've launched the electric version as a Chrysler 300, where being a stylish, comfy and quiet cruiser would've made sense. The Dodge version should've launched with the Hurricane 6, and then later down the road, launch an ev version that makes the power to perform competitively against other performance EVs.

Tommy says “it won’t do a burnout” then shows it doing smokey 4 wheel burnouts and donuts. Dodge could make this a popular car, but not $60,000.

If this car came out in 2019 and sold alongside the regular challenger for 35-60k it would have been a great seller. In 2025 when you can buy a Hyundai that is faster, cheaper, more efficient, more spacious, and charges better I don’t see how anyone buys one of these things.

Who would buy something this complex from a company with known technology issues and not even be around with the same ownership in 4-5 years if that.
@PassportBrosBusinessClassКүн бұрын
EV enthusiasts will buy it, but the price is ridiculous. Stellantis basically targeted the upper end Dodge buyer who was willing to spend over $50,000 on a Dodge when they should have been targeting the sub-$50,000 buyer. The $50,000+ crowd expects a V8 engine.
@inconspicuous7464Күн бұрын
At this point, Dodge should just refund the few people who bought the car and take them back to undo this blemish to their legacy.

After buying a Ram 1500 with just the standard output Hurricane I am cautiously optimistic about the 6pack cars. For them to be successful they need to be priced right and they need to be tuneable from the factory unlike the S650 Mustang and if Dodge does this I think the cars will sell really well.
@mistertrick11 сағат бұрын
i can agree the car is gonna go through teething issues, but there is a segment of "car enthusiasts" that are the types that are just mad for the sake of mad without giving anything else a chance I hope the EV and the Sixpack work out, this is an actual nice review and overview of the whole situation without really going into baiting views for the sake of it

Prices aside, I absolutely love it! I don't love the EV variant. EV charging times. EV range is also a thing. How can you emergency evacuate in a 300 mile range EV that takes hours to charge? The only thing that you can do in a hurry in an EV is 0-60
@waynek80522 сағат бұрын
They went in the wrong direction. The problem with the Challenger was that it was too big and heavy. Now they have a new 2 door Charger that is even bigger and heavier. Regardless of engine, it is a big heavy pig that will not be a competitive performance car in the current environment.

This Dodge Charger EV car is DOA already !! And Even when they start to Offer it with a new TT Hurricane 6CYI engine that's been problematic it's a hard pass !! People still want to see that Proven Hemi V8 engine, and possible a new dependable V8 engine as well, and turnable !!! And this car is still too expensive !!👎👎👎👎

Improve the handling and gas mileage along with the interior. Comfort + Performance = $$$ if it's not broken, don't try to fix it. Just give it style and options: V6 or V8 Supercharger. V6 owners can buy an aftermarket Supercharger for their V-6.

Its probably not as bad as some of the reviews, but the main thing thats going to make it not sell is the price. I checked one out just yesterday, 75k for a non scat pack and they want a 5k markup too.

You got it correct. Price, capability, function and competition. Not competitive. Who wants a slow expensive sports car with a bad reputation. I hate the fake sound. Better options.

Since the Tesla model S was competitive with the Demon, it probably seemed like a good idea. They certainly got the styling right on this - wow.

You mentioned the Chevy Blazer, which my wife just got. You were right on point. As a "Blazer" it is disappointing. As a Chevy SUV it is great. My wife had two Equinoxes before. We went with the Blazer EV because it had the heads up display that my wife has had since here 2003 Buick Rendezvous. The styling of the Blazer is the best of the Chevy SUVs and if you noticed. Chevy has stepped up the looks of Trax and the Traverse. On what Dodge is doing. They have great style, but I just don't trust their quality. I just got last summer a 2020 Jeep Gladiator. Since it is a Stellantis / Jeep product I made sure that I got a great price and that it was the most base model I could get (less to break). 60-75K for a Dodge car is not going to happen.

Too expensive, too slow and over specked. This was just bad market research. There’s an industry standard showing everyone exactly what to do to succeed in selling electric cars, if you’re not trying to beat Tesla at its own game you’re losing.

We bought our Charger for just around $25,000. 300HP, 30MPG on the highway, quiet, comfortable ride, and thus far it has been good to us. STARTS(?!) at 60k? Automakers have absolutely lost their minds. People can't afford this! You have to be upper class to afford anything fun anymore and it needs to stop. Flop.

three big issues: 1st) They stopped the formula of challenger 2 door charger 4 door. We have now lost on of the best 4 door fun cars 2)too expensive 3) you should not try and upset your core base. the chevy blazer has for a long time sold to a wide range of people. not the same with charger.

I'm looking forward to seeing one in person. It looks great in pictures. I've driven an Ionic 5N and absolutely loved it. For the price and "muscle" of this I'd expect more performance though. I can't imagine picking it over an Inonic 5N.

If you want to understand how quiet an EV can be, you have to go big, even bigger than the Charger. I've tried the Spectre, and the Charger is no Spectre as far as quiet goes. It's pretty good when you turn Fratzonic off, but there's a layer of noise that the Rolls-Royce simply doesn't have. Also, if you look at the price of a car as a function of size, the price tag of the Charger makes a bit more sense. You have pointed out the size of it, without mentioning that it's about ten inches longer than a Model S, and even more than that beyond the Model 3 that everyone compares its acceleration to. Frankly, the room and size of this car is a taste of the way things used to be. I'd like to seem them go even larger, with a similarly retro themed Chrysler New Yorker with more wheelbase, longer overall length, and inspired by the `970 models that looked a block long, half a block wide and about two feet tall. I'd even argue that it's time for an even bigger Imperial, especially if either of these could match that Rolls-Royce silence. Oh, and convertibles, because what we need is a big Chrysler convertible. I don't know if it will sell, either. I know that after the rational efficiency of modern EVs, I like the Charger, it's fun in its own way. I'd debate wheter the R/T or Scat Pack is to my taste, but it may come down to tire size for me. I tend to find the limits of grip on the road...

Three lineups would be perfect. One EV, one with the I6 Hurricane and one with a hemi. The public will navigate to the best one and also warm up those who are hesitant about EVs.
@scorpy2643Күн бұрын
As a multiple EV owner and someone who won’t go back to gas: Tommy is right. It’s a drivetrain from 5 years ago with pricing to match. The EV world has evolved past Dodge’s target here. They need faster charging, better acceleration, and a lower price.

Had they just taken a stock Challenger, done the fancy 'front hood wing' thing, they'd sell in droves. But instead, the MASHED the Challenger and Charger together, and it JUST DOES NOT LOOK RIGHT.. And thus won't sell.
