Part of the reason Dyson is so expensive is because they pioneer the new technology so the price tag reflects how much research and development went into it for them to justify their price tag. Additionally they add SO many attachments, and update/improve them every now and then. It’s easy and cheaper for Shark to build theirs when they know what they’re building, and offering less attachments. In other words, Dyson is basically the Designer brand of appliances and that’s why you pay more for them, good for Shark though making a cheaper alternative that Works for those who don’t want to pay for the Dyson.

I can only speak from my own experience with Dyson. It was super expensive - but for me, worth every penny! The thing is, I have 2c/3a type curls, that are super prone to frizz. With the Dyson, I barely get any frizz at all. There are more shine, my hair is more 'touchable', and I managed to go 5 months before I needed a trim (my usual limit is 3 months!!). I have no experience with shark, but personally, I hope my Dyson will last forever. I find myself using the pre-styler the most. If I want to straighten, I usually use the paddle attachment - makes straightening SO much faster, and the result is more volume, smoothness and shine (and less heat needed). I do find the barrels a bit tricky, and I have yet to use the round brush. But I think that is due to my technique, and maybe my hairtype, not the Dyson. I am not very experienced with these tools, so I am most likely using them wrong.

I am a huge Shark fan. I have 2 Shark vacuums and a robot vacuum too. I broke a piece on one of my vacuums. I called Shark to see if I could buy that part to make my vacuum swivel again. The representative was so nice and asked if I would like a replacement. I said yes. So I was shocked when a new vacuum arrived at my door a few days later. The only thing I was asked to do was ship my old vacuum back in the box the replacement was shipped in. They even paid return shipping. I have been a loyal customer ever since then and I tell everyone. I remember the representative told me the best advertisement they can get is word of mouth and I tell everyone like I am telling all of yall... Shark has a great product, great customer service and best of all at an affordable price. P.S. I got my hair styler and it is amazing. I can blow dry my hair in 1 minute flat and then curl my hair in 5 minutes. I don't hate doing my hair anymore!!!!

I’m so excited. The Dyson air wrap is so ridiculously out of the average persons price range I don’t understand how it became so trendy. Sure I could willingly put myself in credit card debt or do monthly payments but for a freaking hair tool !?

Well even if you can afford it. Depends if you want to pay that. Me personally I don’t wanna pay that. I used to be a hairstylist and honestly I’d rather just buy a normal blow dryer and use a round brush but it’s all up to your preference.

@@dollydaydream12 because it's not the tool that determines the hold it's the products you use beforehand and how healthy you maintain your hair. Also using Velcro rollers to set the curl will have it staying 2-3 days.

The Dyson has the new attachments where you can just turn a tiny knob and the direction changes so you don't have to swap the barrel out berry single time. They've also changed the shape on those so please try that out and let us know!

Yeah I’m definitely interested in the curling attachments that you don’t have to change out to switch directions. A lot of times i like to switch directions back and forth bc it seems to look natural and my hair holds more volume or something, the direction switching would be huge

I did return the Dyson dryer for the Shark so I can attest to a sharks quality… it’s an exact dupe, slightly heavier, but for $300 cheaper… if this was out a few months ago! I would’ve saved a lot of cash! I should’ve known, Shark was on Dyson’s tail… dang!

you don’t have to use velcro rollers if your hair doesn’t require them. she has very thick hair so in order to help hold the curl she uses them!

I noticed that you have nice thick hair. I wish I did. I have super fine hair that never wants to hold even a wave. The only styling tool that holds a curl or wave is my beachwaver. I have the shark. I just purchased it and have been playing around with it but it gets hot. I wanted to try the shark first because it's cheaper. If it doesn't work out then I will use my points to purchase the newer Dyson. I'm writing this like 7 months after this review so I went ahead and purchased the new curling barrels and round brush attachments. I purchased the shark flexstyle in black with the carrying case from Sephora during the rouge sale. It was a steal! I just think the brush attachments are to rough for my hair😢.

James Dyson is a really nasty piece of work and not many people outside of the UK realise this when buying their ridiculously overpriced products. He campaigned heavily for Brexit (for his own financial gain), then when Brexit did happen promptly relocated his UK HQ to Singapore. I would never give his company one penny of my money. I have a Shark hairdryer and vacuum and love both 👍

Hey kayli, dyson made an improved version of the 2018 original airwrap. they changed some of the attachments and changed the technology to Coanda airflow and you can now customize your airwrap to suit YOUR hair but it is more expensive now because they made it better. I know it’s a lot to ask but can you review the new 2022 airwrap please. Also I love your videos sooo much. Thanks xx

I know it might not work for everyone but I sleep with my hair loosely in a ponytail with a big scrunchie on the top of my head. Mine’s satin so it doesn’t cause friction or breakage. It gives you extra volume while keeping your hair out of you face at night. The curls will still naturally fall throughout the days but doing this definitely helps keep it looking nice for a lot longer

On your link for the product it’s $249 before tax or shipping not $200, just FYI for everyone. (In California that’s $270 if free shipping, and for some $70 is a big difference) keep your eyes out on Ulta, Sephora, Target, Amazon for the October sales and Black Friday to Xmas sales could be a lot cheaper. I got both Dysons as birthday gifts in 2020 but will definitely buy this and if it works how she showed as good on my hair I’ll gift a friend my Dyson just because I don’t need 2 and I have a few that can’t afford fancy or basic products and mine is practically new. It’s by far cheaper than the Dyson but an almost 50% price difference added from the claimed $200 she has on the thumbnail and says.

I’m in Mexico and i was about to buy the airwrap because of how healthier would be for my hair, BUT i read a massive amount of costumers complaining that their airwrap stopped working within 6 MONTHS OR LESS! and they were waiting for 2 more months just to receive a solution from Dyson (if you got lucky). Also, here is way pricey because of taxes, around 800 dollars… At that price it better be working for years. Can someone tell me if the same problem exists in the US?
