I’m a fat boy with wide flat feet. I absolutely love these, I love the look and styling of Nike runners and can never wear them due to the width but these are great, they break in well. The popping sound is driving me insane however so nice to know it’ll stop eventually

I find it difficult to speed up in them, for a lighter runner like me they’re definitely no shoes for speed runs or racing, but they’re super sturdy and they helped me a lot during recovery. These shoes are perfect for daily training, easy and longer runs, and also for rainy or snowy weather they do great!

I’ve just got a pair of these. I was really worried about that popping sound coming from the heel, like a sucker pad sound but, this video has put my mind at ease. My feet ached like hell on first outing but, I did get a PB on half marathon distance.

I just returned my Zoom Fly 4 for the Zoom Fly 5. Unstable at slower speeds due to the narrow heel. Also the carbon fiber plate can cause some pain. Zoom Fly 5 is def more stable. You lose a bit of speed but with less pain, and it is more durable too. I’m more of a forefoot striker, and this has been a dream. I think the carbon plate on this is softer and more muted which I appreciate. I think I’m one of those people who isn’t a fan for the serious carbon plated shoes just yet.

Just got my fly 5 yesterday and wearing it as I write this comment. Lovely shoe. Comfy on my feet. Think this might help me go back to walking/running after terrible ankle dislocation and broken fibula bone couple of years ago. Much love from Glasgow , Scotland UK

A good number of the running channels here on You Tube panned these shoes for a number of reasons. Chief among them are the midsole and weight. From my limited experience, crushed ZoomX wrapped in a carrier does make for a stiffer shoe that is great for casual wear, but not serious running.

nike made them for the purpose of running . people use to run with less tech back in the day but now if a shoes isn't pillow soft or shoe string light it's a problem . I understand the importance of todays tech as far staying injury free and everything else but sometimes we're just nitpicking.

@@michaelhawes7185 I haven't tried these out myself, so I don't have an opinion on them. That said, they cost 160.00, which is a price range where a lot of other manufacturers have good offerings. Considering the price and competition, I would nitpick too.

Just bought these (pink/orange). Not a runner. But I thought I'd indulge myself for Christmas, after several Renew Run purchases back in 2021. Love this squishy foam, for I do do A LOT of walking. I'm hoping these are even squishier, lol. Anyway, very nice video. Very informative. And very well shot (I'm still trying to figure out who/how they're shooting your leg stride, while you're running 😳😳👍👍). I do like the fact you said/showed that the bottom of the shoe SHOULD BE very durable. I'd like these things to last for awhile, for $160.00, lol. Thanks for the vid. Still contemplating subscribing, only because I'd like to see other teardowns. I also need to see if you have a video addressing WHY a shoe like the Vaporfly, has an asymmetrical tongue area. Looks weird, and is WHY I didn't go for a shoe like that.

That suction cupping sound and feel is really odd when walking around in these, especially on high gloss tile or concrete type surfaces. I don’t know if it’s because I’m so flat footed or what, but it’s definitely annoying. When running in them, I think they’re great overall & don’t notice that sensation or hear it as much, & they are so much more stable than the previous models with a nice max cushion ride & a decent propelling feeling from the plate.

Thanks for the review! I've seen many reviews on the shoe from runners who mostly complained about its weight. I run maybe 6-10 miles a week and only enter 5K races. Weight of a shoe isn't entirely relevant to me. Plus they're mostly all lighter than basketball shoes! Can you look at the New Balance RC Elite V2? It's my favorite shoe to run in and looking forward to V3 although it looks like that shoe is getting an overhaul.

I ve got to say i really appreciate this review, all i ve seen is people bashing this shoe cuz it s 300 gr. but i run and race in 300 grams shoes - trail runner and i ve just found the nike zoom fly 5 HKNE for 100 euros at 237 grams!!!!!! So i definitely bought them i m guessing in my size they won t go over 260 grams which for me is still insane. And i bought it because i do think it s a nice shoe for longer efforts and even to improve my 5k and 10k, i ran a 5k in 20 mins in some adidas terrex on gravel so this will be an amazing update for me. Also i have to say for my knees i assume i will appreciate the extra EVA that’s in there. So i think at that price, reduced from almost 200, at that weight, for what i want to use it for, i mean… It feels like an amazing purchase. I dunno what do you think? Of course i bought them for running on asphalt and in the city :))

Why is this shoe bad for heel pain? I watched the video a few times and got the understanding that it’s bad for heel strikers because it doesn’t have the same “pop” but, not being bad for someone who suffers from heel pain.

Hi Doc Zach. I had fracture on my right ankle and healthy left ankle (never injured). Plan to get ankle brace to play basketball later. Do you recommend getting 2 braces for both of my right and left ankles or just get one brace for my injured ankle? Thank you.

I'm a 20 miles per week trotter, I think these shoes will be sufficient. I did a 5K on Sunday but was in a size 9. Little lose so I took them back and ordered my 8.5. They feel really springy which is good in my opinion.
