The D60 was my very first DSLR and I've got fond memories of it. Pretty sharp sensor, simple to use and easy to carry. Only downside I remember is not having AF with motorless lenses, but then again, it was a joy to use with my old Nikkor E-series 50mm pancake in glorious manual mode. As for flash compatibility, I recall using and old Canon flash with it (just check voltage) and also with a ring flash for macro using a hotshoe pc-sync adapter.

I agree with what you said in the video.I bought a D60 as the first (and only) camera in 2017. I found on a site of ads like Ebay (I live in Brazil) a girl selling this camera cheaply for being a "error in the shotter". By researching I discovered that the problem could be a lack of lubrication from the gears that lift the mirror. I bought, fix it and I'm still happy with it. One thing I miss most about it is liveview because I like to take pictures of the night sky and Iridium satellite flares and it would be easier to get the focus with the liveview.

The D60 is the first SLR camera I’ve owned and still have it. I want to upgrade to a newer camera but, my friend is trying to convince me to just spend the money on a new lens. She says it’s all about the lenses. She does professional photography so, I can’t argue with her. Lol My D60 is still a overall great camera. Thanks for the video. Happy New Year! Cheers!

The body looks brand new and has 11000 shutter actuations and they gave me a 6 month warranty. I am taking some pictures with it and then giving it to her and we will work together learning it. I bought my D60 together with the Nikon AF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR lens ten years ago, spending more money on the glass than the camera-body itself, and I’m still very pleased with this combination. The size of the lens makes the internal flash useless though, as it throws a shadow, but I have never managed to take a good shoot in direct flashlight anyway. This is where the small SB-400 can save the evening, by turning its light toward the ceiling for a soft and better result. To capture warm and emotive pictures, or blow the background out of focus, I’ve also added the Nikon DX AF-S 35mm f/1.8G to my collection. If the crave should emerge for something better or new, then a new body is all I need.

I just last week bought a near mint condition D60 with a Nikkor 55mm & a Nikkor 300mm lens with a Nikon carrying case, charger and the neck strap was even still in the plastic. Not a scratch on the body or a speck of dust all for $180 flat at a local pawn shop. Do you think it's a great deal?

Tough but I'd stick with the D7100. The specs on the D7100 are just amazing compared to the D60. For me, the D60 is one of those 'oldie but goodie' cameras. Plus, it makes for an okay 'back up' camera if anything happens to do the D7100 :)

Thank you for your review. We've owned our D60 since 2008 and my wife has taken some great shots with it. I'm not the photog but now that our kids are bigger we head out to the State and National parks more often. I've tried to take some shots of wildlife and found that the lens that came with the camera doesn't zoom very far at all. Will a Nikon 70 - 300 mm lens do the trick? The price is just right, but I don't know if that is good enough of a decent reach to capture wildlife. What do you thing?
@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia 5 жыл бұрын
Hey resenrob1, the 70-300 will work. But specifically the 70-300mm f/4.5-5.6G VR lens will autofocus on the D60. If you're looking for a decent zoom lens, the 55-200 VR is a neat zoom lens as well.

@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia 6 жыл бұрын
Hey Achyut! The NIkon D60 has a APS-C Crop Sensor (Nikon DX sensor). Clarity of the image depends on many factors, such as photographing in a very low light room to a very fast moving car in the day light. For portraits, just make sure you're shooting during the daytime or sunset hours. This camera is great for outdoors but once you go into very limited light sources (photographing at night), you will need a tripod to make sure the clarity of the image is sharp and stable.

Hey Beatrice, you'll need some knowledge in manual mode. But, you could always get a Nikon 35mm F/1.8G lens and get some very nice blurry backgrounds. The D60 has the potential to create nice images once you get a lens on it. I would highly recommend the Nikon 35mm F/1.8G to get a nice blurry background. But like I stated earlier, you will need some knowledge in Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. Let me know if you have any more questions :)

I would use the Nikon 35mm F/1.8G DX lens. There are MANY lenses to fit your style of photography as well. The 35mm is a fixed lens, also known as a Prime Lens. So you will be limited on focal length but it is an excellent lens!

Same here, complete with a Pelican protective transport case. I've never owned a DSLR before, but used to do a lot of B&W photography....a friend of mine's dad had a full darkroom setup in the basement. He was employed by Baltimore City's D.A.; it was his job to develop the photographs taken by the crime scene detectives. As you can imagine, we got to see some truly gruesome images come to life.....in hindsight, it's pretty obvious that, while he had us convinced that the subjects of the photos was as much of a mystery to him as it was to us, he invited us in to watch what he knew were "the best of the best" come to life (no pun intended!) so as to make his occupation seem like a nonstop thriller ;-)

Nice! Depends what you're photographing. A decent zoom lens I'd suggest is the Sigma 17-50 F/2.8 EX HSM for a good all around lens. It's much better than the 18-55, in my experience. If you're looking for a cheaper lens, check out the Yongnuo 35mm F/2 as well. Did a review on it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/poq0lHqCebGnjdk

D60 has autofocus or not?
@BoostLeekdMedia
@BoostLeekdMedia 5 жыл бұрын
The D60 does have autofocus but it will not autofocus with older Nikon lenses. The older Nikon 'D' lenses will not autofocus on the D60. For example, if you see the Nikon lenses that have a 'D' in the lens name (like the Nikon 50mm F/1.8D), it will not focus on the D60. You will have to manually focus the 'D' lens.
