I bought the 20RT almost a year ago - and I've been playing out with it - and it more than rocks! I don't expect I'll need to upgrade it - ever - because it's just so damned powerful, although the only upgrade I'd consider is the Crush 35RT. As for the people going on about other amps (presumably with all sorts of effects and modelling syatems) - do you want to spend your time playing with gadgets - or do you want to make music; a fairly simple choice really.....

Thanks, I’ve owned for several months and never really understood the knobs. I played while watching your video and I was 😮, that makes sense. I also have the foot pedal, so much better while playing/learning. I agree with all of your comments. As a beginner, I don’t need all the effects, just clean and dirty. Once I get better, I will get peddles.

@@5MinuteMusic One observation is that there is no reverb dial, which a lot of amps have. This has not affected me, but it is something to keep in mind. I use a distortion pedal, so my amp is kept on the 'clean' tone, however you can get some real good crunch

Complete ToDefeat: good choice, the Orange Crush 20 is pretty good, but i don't think it's that much of an upgrade over the Orange 12. however upgrading from an Orange Crush 12 to the Crush 35RT is a much better investment. sure you do pay a little more, but I've seen the Orange Crush 35RT for $199. that's actually a pretty good deal, and the best thing about is, you get a 8 inch speaker instead of 6. so you don't have to turn the volume up to hear it, you can actually keep the volume low at night and you'd still be able to hear it. the Orange Crush 12 for example, you can't really hear anything when you have the volume low, it drowns out the sound for whatever reason.

I play through my Orange Super Crush 100 half stack as my gigging and recording amp. I'm 52 and the weight and the hastle of moving that rig all over is a pain. Of course to gigs or to the studio is a must, but when not gigging I could leave it at the studio for recording and band practice if I had something similar to jam through at home. This or the 35w version would do nicely. I play metal, Thrash and some stoner metal. Orange amps make that happen. I think I'll go try one out. Great vid.

oh, man, that's the key to a good amp review, i mean, to pick a fender guitar.....there's a model with built in reverb which seems no to sound bad at all, a bit more expensive.....i'm between the vox pathfinder ten and this orange (with the reverb,,,or not)...already got the fender champion 40 wich is great, but i'm lookin for a bedroom amp with a different taste (i mostly play fender tubes amps)...i'm lookin' for a little amp with dirty tones (far away from the marshall sound) but i want it with tasteful clean tones....maybe i buy both (pathfinder and orange) and try not to feel guilty....thanx 4 this review, greetings from South QLD Australia

Used Boss Katana 50 MK2 is a good value. The amp sounds good the way it comes, but it includes a huge number of Boss effects and options with the tone studio program (even some rare ambient effects). Plus can record into an interface or directly into a computer using the USB. Gives you everything you need in one package.

So I'm looking to upgrade from my Blackstar Fly3 just now. Debating between this, the Orange Micro Dark (paired with an PPC108), and a Marshall DSL1CR. Money is not an issue, but space is. Whatever I get has to fit in a 40x40cm space horizontally. Only thing I care about is a good high-gain thrash/death metal tone and passable cleans, without getting too loud. Will be pairing it up with an Ibanez TS9, which I already own.

@5MinuteMusic
@5MinuteMusic 2 жыл бұрын
@@rejiix You would have to try different speakers out for yourself. That is the advantage to having a head: you can pair it with many different kinds of speakers. The best setup I have ever run was a 4x10 cabinet with a 1x15 hooked up to it (the sound was punchy, focused, and warm!) I also have run a 2x12 with two Eminence Legend speakers and they sounded great! That being said, if you go with a 1x8 cabinet, see if you can find a Jensen speaker (they have a wide selection) that you can test out before you buy it. You can hear some samples of a Jensen MOD 8-20 here: www.jensentone.com/mod-series/mod-8-20 I want to get an 8" Jensen to put in my smaller amps to hear the difference.

Id buy this if they included a footswitch with the amp because its useless without it in my opinion. They also need to fix the loud clicking issues they have with their footswitch and the buzzing on the gain channel when not playing anything. Also, the 20rt should have a send/return. Id gladly pay extra to have that. Unfortunately I dont even want to buy it even if it is a lower price now without the things I mentioned. Lastly, these tiny amps shouldnt be treated as beginner amps by orange.. it tarnishes their own name cause people hear it and go WOW. And they expect it to have those other things but it doesnt.. so they could have the best product on the entire market but chose not to. Nice
