I'd check your rear shock dampers as the rear of your car seems to bounce pretty quickly over bumps! I have a 1980 924 rolling project in met. Green with brown and green check interior that costs me £3 a week on insurance, Ulez exempt, tax and Mot exempt aswell. Your 924 looks like a great example

Great video, desperate for a 924 now. Love that phone on the dash! I've always liked the 924s just because they seem to be the unloved child of the Porsche family. Plus you can't go wrong with pop up headlights.

The Porsche 924 was the replacement for the Porsche 914 (4 cylinder engine) and the 916 (911 based engine) and VW wanted a replacement as they shared 914. That model was known as the "Vopo". What became the 924 was again to be shared with VW but before the new model was ready, VW decided to have their own exclusive sports car which became the Scirrocco. However, Porsche pressed on with 924 as they had designed the body and redesigned much of the Audi 2 litre engine that was originally a Mercedes Benz design from the mid 1960's. The 924 engine was not used by VW/Audi in their products. As the years passed, the 924 became progressively more upmarket as befitted a Porsche. It's worth remembering that the Porsche marque itself began as a Sports VW Beetle when Ferry Porsche began building and selling these cars under his own name. The Porsche people who were a bit snotty when the 924 was introduced were also snotty when the Boxter was introduced!!

We had two in our family. One was a white one from 1976, which had very little equipment in and the other was a black lux model like the one featured, but it had a rear spoiler. We traded in the first one against the second one in 1983 & had the optional checkerboard seat pattern, which was usually only found on the 928. We owned it for 33 years and it had done over 275 thousand miles before we finally sold it. Apparently, it was broken for parts a couple of years later!😢

I have a guards red 924S from 86 and I love it. It is an affordable classic and hopefully it will stay that way. It is a great entry into Porsche who are not rich enough to buy a 911.

I just bought a '87 924S and yes, it is a great entry, but I reached my goal at the same time already. 😀 I love it so much, I just want to turn it into a perfect example. 🙂

this was a great video and i really enjoyed the great photography along side the interview and the history. im a sucker for the underdog. yeah this has me thinking yeah i want one lol its prob an interesting point that for a 22 year old to have Porsche as 1st car. well thats super expensive car insurance, it is most likely insured under a classic car policy on limited miles.
