Good descriptive video about the joy of driving a 924S. I have owned my 1988 924S since 1994 and would never consider trading it in. I still get a buzz every time I drive it. It still turns heads and attracts appreciative looks and comments.

Very nice Porsche.. I am 61 and vividly remember these when they came out ! As you said, I like the simplicity and fun to drive factor, even without those extreme HP cars have nowadays... BTW, you are very talented at narrating these superbly done videos. Very pertinent comments, not all over the place and hyper-stressed like the VAST majority of car reviewers ! Your channel is really underated...Don't change your style and your video format ! Well done.

I had one of these as a young man. Loved it to bits, only sold it due to the crazy UK fuel prices. Yeah, very balanced, the only time I came close to a crash was pulling out of a junction in the rain, where it started going forward and then just stopped, sitting there wheelspinning. Had to mentally force myself to let off and let the wheels slow for grip, despite a car slithering towards me. At the last moment the tires bit and we moved out of the way of a Ford Escort going sideways! Sorry Mr Escort Driver!

I had a 924 and 944s2 in the late '90s the 924 I bought for 4 thousand pounds it was low mileage and in great condition has zero problems in 4 years with that car. Later i bought the 944 s2 for 4200 ish British pounds plus my 924 thrown in, a bit more but has full-service history and a great deal of work done to improve the car and several new parts in the troubled area. The 944s2 was leaps ahead compared to the 924. Looking back the 924 was a basic car in and out, especially inside but my first sports car so I loved it and it was fast enough for the time and my age. 944s2 was a different animal better interior by miles, much much faster, better ride and leaps ahead in fit and finishing. A great car for the money and a big step up from the 924 and before that I had Peugeot 405 1.9 litre 16v which was fast but didn't have any character and was forgetful but was a much better daily.

Really nice overview and driving footage! The performance upgrades on the 1988 engines are definitely nice to have, but the torque curve still drops out pretty quickly after 5,500rpm… losing about 30 pound-feet between there and 6,000rpm.

Had a 1987 924S for two years before being totalled by an 18 wheeler on a snowy interstate. I walked away from the accident unharmed and I’m convinced that was due to the quality of the car. Still miss it. One thing you don’t mention, though - the low bottom rim of the stock steering wheel, making entry and exit a hassle. If your aftermarket steering wheel is smaller, maybe that solves the problem.

Not sure why people always own this car only for a few years. I have mine for the last 18 years, been driving it daily. Its now 35 and will last for another age to come. Great cars. Just your american version has really ugly looking fenders, my euro version looks much better. Mine has around 200 hp nowadays. Love the car. Have a racing exhaust on it that just screams at you.

How did you get the extra HP?
@0MeALot03 жыл бұрын
@@schrockahasi Well somewhere in the past they stole a 944s, probably later edition with the 187hp 2.5l engine and put everything on a legid crashed chassis, 924s. You can still see the nose of mine isnt that straight, well at least i can see it, others dont. They did that a lot in the past with stolen cars here in europe. Owner before me let it get chiptuned. Then race exhaust helps a bit, stripping weight, quick shifter, race clutch, etc. Can't go past 200hp though, mine eats its drive shafts and tires like crazy. Im the 13th owner, German papers show the 7th was in poland who probably fixed it up with this engine.
