I would be somewhat interested to know if there are non-human examples of gender identity being a thing. I suspect so, but it may not be so easy to distinguish. For example, I recall hearing about gay penguins... and I heard of one of the penguins taking on traditionally female behaviors. I would say if the penguin were say exhibiting those behaviors in the raising of offspring or maybe even in preparation of having offspring that might be seen as a functional behavior rather than an expression of gender identity, but maybe it could lie somewhere in between. As I am not a biologist, I understand that I have difficulty weighing in... well, did I add anything? Idk. Whatever.

Mildred is good at keeping our attention while discussing hard topics, I very much agree! But the sheer ability they have to do so does not come to them naturally, at least not entirely. You can very much learn what does and does not keep attention and engage audiences through practice! It’s also worth noting that you seem (though I’m very much not sure whether I’m misreading your intent) to be talking largely about interpersonal run-time communications (meaning mostly conversations) and comparing that to the engagement potential of scripted work (which has variable amounts of time put into it, and can be tested with people to see how engaging it is and then reworked). Like I said: I am not sure if comparing the two forms of communicating info was your intent, but I think it’s worth reminding you about the potential dangers of having expectations based on one inform your success in the other: namely that you can be too hard on yourself (which is unproductive). I hope this was helpful, I hope you have yourself a great day, and I hope you grow to be more engaging in future communications!

While I usually want chocolate, the real reason I don't eat Skittles is because I have a hypermobility disorder and trying to chew them usually sprains my jaw. Once every two or three years, I try a handful and painfully regret it for weeks. There's a faction of people who have always done it in a performative way. But fear makes you do weird stuff and believe ridiculous things. There is a multi-million dollar business for bear-spray and other bear-repellant/resistant objects. Yet on average bears kill less than 3 people a year world-wide. We destroyed their environment and have driven them to eat our trash to survive, yet they have become a symbol of the dangers of the outdoors. You are far FAR more likely to die of injury or exposure in the woods, but what do people worry about? Bears. The first thing someone says when they get lost in a movie is "Oh god, what if we get eaten by a bear!" Often said in a comical way, but it's THAT deeply rooted in the public subconscious. Do you know a single person who was killed by a bear, shark, cougar, or even snake? No, of course not. Do you know someone who was a witch either? Nope. But you've heard of witches, of their power. Now there's a bear in our community! ... oops, I meant witch. We gotta kill that bear/witch before it kills us!

There's an easier connection to the purple M&M as trans that everyone missed: she has the same shape as the other peanut M&Ms, so she's a woman with nuts. Now does this mean she is trans? Probably not as intended, plus who cares? It doesn't feel special to me (a transfem enby) that there's a trans candy, or possible with only perceived implications that she's trans. I see people say "Why do do they call it homophobia / transphobia, it's hate not fear!". Because it's like people who have a total fit over a tiny harmless house spider. They don't genuinely HATE the harmless little spider, they've been primed to have an excessive fear response when they see the features of one. Likely from media that portrays them in a an outright fictional manner. If you genuinely understood the thing you are upset about, you wouldn't be having the reaction. People who intentionally force themselves to live in a world of constant priming to trigger their fear response eventually start to associate the stress and anguish of the phobia with the subject of their phobia, growing to hate them. The main difference is, being an arachnophobe doesn't actively threaten anyone's life because spiders aren't people. They have to convince people the LGBT basically "aren't people" to make their fear response socially acceptable... instead of just, getting therapy. This is also why they assume transness and gayness spread via "social contagion" that can be "cured", because transphobia and homophobia spread that way, and can be cured with therapy. They aren't willing to except that there phobia, like any other phobia, is a well documented psychosomatic response to social priming, that can be overcome with therapy. And that an equal amount of research shows LGBT are innately their gender / orientation from birth, same with left-handedness. That no amount of therapy, real therapy or outright torture disguised as therapy, can just make gay / trans people no longer gay / trans. Again, in the same way no amount of therapy and isolation from other left-handed people can make a left-handed person right handed.
