Is the Remington 870 good enough

I figured out my aiming- I had to raise the dot to lower the barrel, it is now dead on.

Yes, the quality of Remingtons and many other shotguns have gone down. But it's a steel reciever with a steel bolt. As I see it the pros for Remington 870, is the sound construction and the healty quality in the basics. An 870 cost $100 in 1960. That would be $900 today. And can be had for less than a third normally today. Change springs, extractor - mayby ejector, give it a ceracoating, then it's en par with the best - and still cheaper than it used to be. With a steel reciever it'll last to one's great grand children without being a rattler. There's a reason Wilson Combat use 870s and there are few manual trap-/ skeetguns with aluminum recievers

I have a newer 12ga Fieldmaster Super Mag, I love the gun. I liked the wood furniture but changed it to synthetic for a better grip. I have shot very heavy loads and many boxes of birdshot with it and had no problems. I have a Mossberg 500 deer gun and the 870 is for birds.

Have you seen the Woox furniture? wooxstore.com/collections/remington-870-stock- absolutely gorgeous! I also have a Mossberg 930 with a pistol grip- it does feel good but for some reason I am loving the simplistic and somewhat traditional look of the Remington and the pump is so satisfying, lol!

IMHO the 870 is $HIT. Seriously. I had one growing up, bought one for each of my boys. My eldest has a broke extractor and can't find a replacement. Mossy 500 >>>>>>

@@brianclevenger5521 I hear ya. Mine is new so I guess it hasn’t had a chance to break yet lol. But I do love the simplistic style. I suppose Mossberg is similar and I do love my Mossberg 930. Heck, if I am being honest I really want the Baretta 1301 in green.

I have 2 new 870’s a 20ga Fieldmaster and a 410 wingmaster. I found extra extractors for both of them. I replaced the mim in the Fieldmaster.
