I had the NT1A initially which I thought was a little bright...bought the NT1 kit about 6 months ago on the strength of glowing reviews I'd seen...so glad I did...it's like liquid velvet...a beautiful microphone.
@IbandUK3 жыл бұрын
Noffley Puggs I looked at a lot of frequency charts before buying the NT1, the NT1 is very much old school (a microphone designed for professionals). The NT1A appears to me to be aimed at the modern amateur market instead (the artificial brightness helps to cut through the mix for people who don't know how to mix professionally).

Hi, can i ask? If i have rode Nt1 but my interface is Um2 which is a cheap interface...does the quality from the nt1 still the same? Or the quality will change due to my cheap interface?
@IbandUK2 жыл бұрын
Phober The actual recording from the NT1 will be the same, that is to say the analog sound will be the same, but the quality of the audio interface's pre-amp (that boosts the analog signal to line level) and the audio interface's analog to digital converter will affect the quality of the digital sound you record to your computer. If you use the audio interface to listen to your recordings, then the quality of your audio interface will affect the quality of the sound a second time too. That said, it is arguably better to have a good quality microphone (like than the Rode NT1) and a budget audio interface than have a budget microphone and a good quality audio interface.

@IbandUK4 жыл бұрын
CRIMINALS FAMILY Hi, thank you for your feedback. I do like the sm58 sound but I find it is so much harder to mix with the sm58 than the Nt1.
@enado184 жыл бұрын
IbandUK were the SM58 and NT1 processed differently in the mix? I also thought the singing on the SM58 was much better. Talking was better on the NT1 though.
@IbandUK4 жыл бұрын
@@enado18 Hi, both the sm58 and Nt1 were recorded the same way. They were plugged into my tascam us16x08 and recorded directly into Sonar X1 producer. The recordings are completely raw, no processing was done in Sonar at all. The sm58 is designed for live work so the sound is artificially tweaked inside the mic, so in my demo the sm58 sounds more processed and therefore may give the impression of sounding better. The Nt1 sounds flatter, because the frequency response is flatter but that's a lot easier to work with in the studio.
@enado184 жыл бұрын
IbandUK Not what I was expecting, but it makes sense though. So the SM58 kind of has a built-in static EQ, while with the NT1 you get a straight capture that can be manipulated on the computer. Thanks for the explanation and video.
@digitalspecter4 жыл бұрын
@@IbandUK Yeah the sm58 has more noise reduction .. to me it's most apparent when the voice is fading out.. so to me the NT1 sounds more natural and I prefer it.

I have a sm58 to record bamboo flute, thinking about to get an Nt1 to improve my Sound quality but i record in an acousticaly untreated room. Do you think is a good idea???
@zainyzee9142 жыл бұрын
It shouldn’t be a problem, having a treated room obviously helps with acoustics but the mic can always do the best.

@@zainyzee914 thak you very much!! I think in the next future i m going to buy a presonus V2 tube preamp And the nt1 to achive a better Sound
@IbandUK2 жыл бұрын
vecchiuz Hi, the NT1 would be an improvement on the sm58 as the sm58 is designed for live vocals (the sm57 is designed for acoustic instruments). The NT1 was excellent for recording my Alto Sax. The acoustics rather depend on the room, since it would be typical to add reverb to a recording of an instrument like a bamboo flute (given that reverb is designed to add room reflections back onto a recording made in an acoustically treated room). Soft furnishings like curtains, pillows, duvets, etc can be used to reduce any unwanted reflections. Placing a refection filter behind the microphone can be sufficient in a home studio.
@vecchiuz21432 жыл бұрын
@@IbandUK i m using a sm58 why it Was a present and i think that to switch to a SM 57 would make no huge difference.. Yes i always add reverb and delay but i saw lot of videos from Peoples Who suggest to dont use a condensor mic in a untreated room.. Thank you very much for the Info! I think i m going to get a NT1 (or can you suggest a ribbon mic in a similar Price range that can work in a untreated room ?)
@IbandUK2 жыл бұрын
vecchiuz Condenser microphones pick up more room ambient noise than a dynamic microphones, which is why I assume some people make such claims. Personally, I have no acoustic treatment in my studio except for a reflexion filter behind my NT1 and I have had no complaints about my recordings (even those that have been played on radio).

@IbandUK4 жыл бұрын
Digital Brain Hi, I use the Rode NT1 for all my KZbin video tutorials and it is an excellent microphone. I have tried a few cheaper microphones but they had too much background noise and/or hum. You will see the NT1 in plain sight in my videos though because you have to get close up and personal with it. If I could afford it I would probably go for a Shure SM7B but for now I am happy to carry making tutorial videos with the Rode NT1.

Why does my nt1 not sound good ? It picks up every single background noise like even if I move my damn finger, should I return it or what
@IbandUK3 жыл бұрын
Requiem 444 Hi, the NT1 is a professional mic so needs to be setup properly, which basically means setting the gain on the mic input correctly. Reduce the mic input gain until your daw vocal track no longer detects ambient noise. You should also use pro singing techniques when recording.... kzbin.info/www/bejne/pYGZnYiKf5aliNE If, like me, you use the NT1 for recording your voice for youtube videos (so likely to create unwanted noises), add a noise gate to the vocal track. Usually a noise gate set with a threshold of minus 50dB works for me.

Tell me, is the built-in pop filter of the rode nt1 microphone good or not? Or do you need to buy another pop filter? Please recommend a good pop filter for RODE NT1 Thanks)

sheraliuulutynchtyk sheraliuulutynchtyk Hi, the pop filter that comes with the Rode NT1 is the only pop filter I use when recording vocals with the NT1 in my home studio setup. sheraliuulutynchtyk sheraliuulutynchtyk Hi, I don't have an AKG C214 or an Aston mic so I can't test them side by side with the NT1. @IbandUK4 жыл бұрын
Oneandonlyagust Hi, i haven't recorded any instruments with the NT1 yet but I will very soon add a video of me recording a sax with the NT1. The manual certainly suggests it is robust enough to record instruments and it's pretty impressive flat frequency response, along with it's seriously low noise, should, I think, produce some pretty impressively realistic instrument recordings.

Meulo Hi, here is a video of mine that I recorded live with the Rode NT1 microphone kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHXFhX5ja9SmisU The Rode Nt1 was connected to a Tascam us16x08 audio interface. For most of the video the sound was then send directly to my Canon M50 camera to be added directly to the picture feed. In the two sound demos the sound was recorded directly into a DAW, then added to the picture later. I don't live stream but this video should show you how the Rode NT1 would sound in a live stream and when you rap.
