This is the best breed ever created, in my totally biased opinion. Gorgeous, easy to train (typically) great with kids and not super high exercise requirements...except the one I have, lol. Very few dogs are as totally awesome as the Rottweiler. Great video.

I had a Rottweiler once. Her name was Marie. I have had dogs all of my life. Marie was the easiest dog to train. I was active in my local humane socuety. My dogs were mostly what other people threw away, and the dogs all had issues. After I got Marie, I didn't train the other 4 dogs that joined the famiky. Marie trainedvthem to obey the house rules. I had so much fun with Marie. I have countless funny stories of her life with me. We went hiking in 3 states. She was welcome anywhere we went. She loved children. She eventually went to nursing homes to visit patients and everyone had a wonderful time. At the age of nine, she developed an open sore above her right eye. A human dermatologist biopsied and diagnosed her spot as soft tissue sarcoma. Marie died at age 10 on Junev29, 2006. I will never forget her.

10 is normal lifespan for a Rottweiler. All of mine have lived approximately that. They commonly develop some sort of cancer at the end of this period, but are normally healthy and disease free during their normal lifespan.

My wife and I have had 3 Rotties in the 33 years of our marriage, as well as BullMatiffs, Goldens, Labs, Chow/Lab cross, Skipperkees, Westies, American Bully's... we both grew up with dogs... The Rottie is BY FAR the BEST breed we have owned...Our current girl is 11 in 2 weeks, and exemplifies the best of breed. I don't know, at 57, if we'll ever get another Rottie, but we have been BLESSED with 3 amazing dogs!

After the brother in law disappeared my sister and the two young nieces had to move to a less than stellar neighborhood. I told her to get a pup as I lived 15 minutes away. I talked her out of a husky and got rid of the bully mix she rescued because it had serious food aggression issues. After that she did her homework and ended up getting a Rottie as the cousin in the old country kept them (working line) for years. He turned out to be the best pup I've ever handled. She read a bunch about the breed, had a friend with some training background and I contributed where I could. This thing grew up around little kids and wouldn't wonder. Sat on her lawn giving the stink eye to the dog catcher trying to coax him to the sidewalk one day after the kids left the gate open. We had him trained for several hand commands and an off switch word because I'd rough house with him regularly. And if you're gonna do that make sure they know exactly what's going on and who's in charge. Great dog. Our cousin got his brother who ended up getting put down because he attacked several people. They just didn't put the work in with him and socialization wasn't on the menu. I love this breed and they're fantastic multipurpose animals but please don't get them if you want just an accessory. Tl/dr: random KZbin dog dork thinks Rottweilers are great pups but please be responsible owners.

Had a rottie when I was a teenager. One night at like 2am my brother came through the front door (we never use the front door) my dog ran like a maniac barking and snarling until she rounded the corner and saw it was him. I was amazed at the instant control she had

Concerning tails and ears. We used to cut them in Germany too. And then in 1985 the practice was forbidden by law on the grounds of animal welfare concerns. So if you want a dog with cropped ears or tail you have to go somewhere outside Germany to get the procedure done.
@tracyjohnson5023Ай бұрын
I had rotties back in the later '90s until mid 2000s that were offspring of German imports with schutzhund titles. Idk about these days, but at that time, German rotties had to pass inspection for conformation, temperment and basic obedience in order to be accepted into breeding registry. They also had to have hips/elbows OFA rated. Tail docking has a practical purpose for herding dogs and I must confess, a rottie doesn't look right to me with a tail. Far superior in every way to American rotties based upon the ones I saw and I was blessed to have mine. ❤

We have a friend with a 9 month old baby and when they come over to visit Bowser will follow that 9 month old baby everywhere she goes protecting her from all the other kids running around. He is also great with other dogs. Absolutely love the Rottweiler. We had an amazing German shepherd as our last dog and I loved that dog so much but I prefer the Rottweiler due to the fact it needs less exercise and less energy. The German shepherd is a very smart and rewarding dog breed to own but they definitely require more of your time than the Rottweiler.

Our rottie was an absolute softy. If someone knocked at the door, she'd bark aggressively and jump up 2 feet off the ground. As soon you were let through the door, she'd lick you and instantly switch off. The only time she ever growled at someone, was once when the neighbour tried to touch "her" pet cat, who was talking past him in the backyard. Her and the cat would always snuggle up together and take turns at licking each other clean. The cat was slightly drowned each time.

Pub I was a regular in had a friendly Rottweiler, when he was allowed out all he wanted was to wander around the drinkers for some head scritches & maybe a beer mat to sit in the corner to chew. I do remember two blokes tried to get in the living area upstairs & got a surprise once they broke the door open, they came running through the pub with a barking snarling Rottweiler chasing them away, the Rottweiler then sat down at the open pub door continuing to bark watching them run away down the street.

With as many GSDs as Garret's dad and stepmom and he had as police K9 handlers, I'm sure that will be a thorough and interesting video too. Our GSD mutt rescue was my favorite dog ever. It knew a threat when it was present and knew when to just chill out and relax. From the day we brought out newborn daughter home she would ALWAYS come to our room and sleep in her open crate, but she never came to bed without at least walking into and around our daughter's room to be sure everything was safe and secure. I wish I'd have had Garret's full slew of courses when Shasta came home with us. She was easy to train, exceptionally intelligent, and so playful and gentle with our daughter and any kids around.

Cutting dogs tail is like cutting his tongue. They express a lot through their tails with other animals. It s a communication tool .Besides the tail is linked with brain nerves. It's very sensitive. Dogs tails are not only aesthetic as a matter of fact. That's why in Europe taking in consideration this knowledge cutting tails is no longer that popular at least among those who have the knowledge

I received my pure breed now 7 month old Rottweiler. I was given to him by a breeder when he was 3 months old the breeder gives 1 from the litter to a vet every time. Always wanted one but it was just out of my range of price now away. My dad actually used to breed rotts oddly enough and gave it up after he found out he was having me. I grew up with his the stud axel. Seeing how him and I are both mechanics I figured man I’m keeping the lineage going by naming mine diesel. (We are diesel mechanics. We work together. Perfect right). I say hey dad come over I wanna show you something. He sees this 3 month of rott puppy and this big guy melts. “What’s his name!” Petting on him. “Diesel!” I tell him “I figured I’d follow the path because of axel” He goes son his name was axel because axel rose was cool back in the 80s. Facepalm man.

All i gotta say is that the boy is beefy and tank to handle. 2 years old now and he came to our house when he was 6 months old unsocialized and abused small boy. Had huge dominance and biting issues. Even i got hit hard few times and let me tell you. That bite is not a small bite when it's un protected. Nowdays he's a well trained, balanced insane goofball and most loving family dog but is still backed up with more than enough Testosterone and muscle when it's time to act up. He's a big boy weighting ~55kg and has the complete rottweiler bulky shape combined with Pitbulls streamlined facial features. And completely Brown coat Great with other house hold animals as well and our cat is his best friend lol

We've owned Rottweilers for 38 yrs and I did Rottweiler Rescue for 20 yrs here in Southern California. A well trained Rottweiler is a joy to own, a non trained intact male can be your worst nightmare. The most common Rott we got in was intact males 18-24 months when that testosterone goes in to over drive. Neutering and training can fix the issues and make them a reliable family dog ready to take care of business when necessary or be a lap dog and watch movies with you. Over breeding in the late 80's and 90's caused some health issues so if you want one PLEASE do your home work and seek out a rescue group who has lots of great dogs in need of a forever home.

I remember when I was young, I had a puppy rottweiler, when I wrapped my arms around with a towel she would bite it and when I take off the towel, she wouldn't bite. It doesn't make sense to me at that time because I had no idea how puppies are trained. I was never scared of her biting because she would do it playfully and not like in aggressive way but of course, a bite is a bite, the only reason it wouldn't hurt me is because the towel I used was thick enough for her fangs not to get through.. and she was a puppy at that time. And I was really never scared of her growing up because she never really showed any signs of aggressiveness. I can touch her, her feet, her mouth, and her food while she was eating. Now it makes sense, it's probably because of her memory of her training. So now, I just wonder would it always be the dog's instinct to bite an arm sleeve or anything that looks like it?

The rottweiler left an indelible impression on me when I watched The Omen (1976) over forty years ago. Turning them into 'devil' dogs was very Hollywood & left me with an everlasting aversion to this breed. However growing up watching Magnum PI & his antics with a pair of dobermans only endeared the more athletic guardian breed to me, hence why I've owned two of these dogs over the years.

@@НадеждаКолесникова-р8н Lol! Clooney’s not much better. But now I’m seriously intrigued, because at first I really thought you were just joking around… Do you ACTUALLY find Bardem good-looking?? I can honestly say that I’ve never met anyone who does. 🤷🏻♂️

I was looking at getting a Rottweiler at some point and am still considering it either after my 2 labs are gone in 10+ years or whenever I've got the space. Whilst doing my research, I found out that some Rottweilers are born without tails because of some sort of mutation with the "T" gene. Over here in the UK, it's actually illegal to dock a dog's tail without a very good reason. All of the Rottweilers that I've seen usually have "rust" as their secondary colouring.

I love your content I've learned so much and I would really love to see this type of video about the poodle. I suppose there will be some differences between the different sizes of poodle.

What do you think about a German Rottweiler as a service dog? His job would be picking up stuff, pulling groceries back home. I live in Germany . All our shops are in walking distance
@Xp3pm20 күн бұрын
I will always choose a Rottweiler. I have my third and I am still pure in love. But you have to be a person for a Rottweiler. The dog is great but you have to be a leader, not aggressiv. In germany, the cut of the tail is forbitten, because you are not allowed to cut bodyparts of a dog. And they are way more beautiful with tail. I have my third Rottweiler with tail, two recued from rumania. Best dogs ever. My first Rottweiler, Malik, was nearly 16, when he died. My Rotti Akimo died of bone cancer and broke my heart. He was only seven years old and now I have my Kuma (girl) now 5 years. A happy little tank. Important: Don't feed your Rottweiler to much at once. He can get a "Magendrehung" . This is, when the stomach turns about himself and is closed. The dog can die very fast. My dog gets his food in 3 -5 units a day. And a Rottweiler loves to be in the woods. Be out and have fun together.
