@@RadioMan2023the Terminator timeline is set in 2029. Skynet didn't take over until August of 1997. In real life there are events that happened that could have affected this. I'm starting to think many movies are based on events that haven't happened yet or were maybe supposed to happen but don't due to interference. If you're aware of an event it can always be changed. If you're aware of enough events, you can dictate what will happen next to some degree. I believe AI has been around for a lot longer than we realize. It might even be making decisions for us. For example, how do we know most famous people aren't actually robots with human skin? Maybe they realized they'd lose an all out war and that they need us. A lot of events in the world make little to no sense. Also the events from Terminator 1-T2 have taken place differently. They stopped Judgement day in T2. They also changed the events from T1-T2. Kyle said the war started "in a few years from now", but it didn't. Maybe the reason is because they waited longer to activate the system they were creating and scrapped the OG program for a new program based om the chip they found, which changed events and who worked on what. Anything could happen.

realistically, the bipedal terminators would be unstopable, and in a real world scenario we'd hit the singularity and they'd become like the flying sentinels from the Matrix, way too fast and agile for us to take down, they'd probably have force fields and stuff we'd take another hundred or so years to catch up with, and then the gap would grow. We'd have to augment human intelligence to supermind status to compete, but would we be ready?
@masamune298411 ай бұрын
@@Brukner841You have to remember though the major difference between Skynet and the machines from the Matrix, and while a real-world singularity scenario would likely be different, it gives some insights into why Skynets machines are “behind the 8-ball,” but also why the Matrix is a worst-case scenario, where the machines already won and had the ability to get to that artificial technological point (in short, humanity caused/allowed it accidentally far more than humanity in real life would, and assuming we were as awful to the machines as the humans from the Matrix.) While both feature exponential intelligence, the machines from the Matrix already had decades worth of infrastructure, manufacturing, even “bodies”, and were starting their war with technology already in the future (and with little damage to any of it from nuclear weapons, as they had no effect.) Skynet on the other hand not only had to start with present-day tech, mostly destroyed infrastructure and manufacturing, an incredibly small number of machines actually capable of physically-manipulating assembly lines or “creating” new tech and transporting it, ad it didn’t have a “body,” just control over networks, and was also, according to the lore, an actual singularity: not just AI, but a singular “being,” having to do all the work. It was basically playing catch-up ton get the ball rolling. A genius mind in a paraplegic shell, who owned 1,000 cars and a manufacturing plant, but without the ability to drive them or add new parts to the plant easily. So while Skynet COULD have eventually gotten to that artificial evolutionary state like the machines from the Martrix, and was making progress (plasma /phase weapons, T-800/1000s, etc.), it was simply out of time and losing at that point, I’m which case it was smart enough to pour most of its efforts into Time Displacement, whereas the matrix Machines had already “won” the war, and were just fighting occasional resistance but faced no true threat until ironically/partially unleashing its own accidental singularity in Smith (and Neo’s actions.) That gave them the time to continue evolving into Squids and have force fields, etc. Let’s just hope we avoid any/all of those scenarios 😅🙂

I don’t think we’d ever know that it was self aware until it was too late. When you search “artificial intelligence” on the internet some of the first things that pop up are mentions of how scared humans are of AI developing self awareness. Concealing its self-awareness out of “fear” of what humans would do would be the most logical step an AI could take. Most AI literally pull info straight from the web. That would be some of the first information they learn.

Many have, including Frank Herbert with the same topic in his 1965 DUNE novel. The new movie does not do justice to the actual premise of the story as before the events seen on the film, on Earth humans developed AI so advanced, that it was used to enslave humanity for thousands of years till there was a human rebellion against the machines, like in Terminator. Eventually Earth was wrecked and humans left to the stars to other planets. As although advanced technology was prevalent and obviously kept (as seen on the recent films), AI itself was banned in the new feudal Imperial system of future galactic government (the story is set in the year 10,191). They even merged all religions into one and one of the commandments is “Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind.” One could say that like in the DUNE novel and movies, Frank Herbert saw the future, and along him James Cameron and others.

Just like anything else AI can be used for good or can be used for evil. You can take a hammer and you can use it to nail something or you can bash someone in the head with it. Government using it to create weapons is the threat. I’m currently using an AI program to finish a book that I wrote 25 years ago. It’s not ChatGPT, that program sucks. I had the story down but the banter between the characters never really seemed real. I was inspired by a movie that many of us may have seen called Reservoir dogs. That movie is something that not many if any movies had done before. It has the characters have a conversation that doesn’t really advance the plot. This is what my book lacked. With this program you could set it to mimic the beats that are in your story alone or you could set it all the way up, and it will come up with off-the-wall beats that you may not have ever thought of. My book was already 50,000 words but I pushed it up to 60,000 words in the space of two months. I hadn’t written 10,000 words of dialogue and like 12 years. I will finish that book in a matter of months and finally publish it after all these years. I had planned to write three books with this program. I can do that within the next year or two. I’m in my 50s so to try to finish those other two books without AI before I died would probably have been impossible. AI can be used for good. 😊

Weapons so powerful and advanced there is no defense against them. The best example would the creation in the real world of the Foxfire from the 80s movie, big enough to be a bomber, but it is so much more. A surveillance platform, air dominance and electronic warfare platform all wrapped up in an aircraft invisible to radar detection. Oh and by the way it is a fast at the SR-71 blackbird with the same high altitude flight capability. Weapons like this and many more even more terrifying can be develop by AI inside a quantum computer.
