Mark, the published to speed is for what you get with the unlock code: Hold down both the accelerator and brake controls, then press the button ten times. You now have the ability to go 20mph top speed. You're welcome.

May like to try this Hold down accelerator and brake. Push down power rapidly button 10 times. You will hear an audible beep when it unlocks. Repeat the process to lock the scooter.

Great review. Just have one question: How tall are you and how did you find the height of the handle bars/size of the scooter I’m 6ft2 and wondering whether the scooter may feel a bit small or if the bars are a bit low down. Don’t want to be hunched over or feel like it’s got an awkward riding position for my size! Cheers

Let’s talk about the movement of the handlebars relative to traveling on the uneven ground towards the latter part of the video. The dependency of the handlebars is almost all at that point based on the spring attachment at the front attachment section of the handlebars. Up to that point, I was having an orgasm with the perfection of this scooter. But now I’m nervous because if my hands are bouncing around relative to my grip on the handlebars, where is my rigid stability other than in my feet…??

I have a Reid E4 plus e-scooter & I pass police & police vehicles all the time & I've only been stopped once (I was on the road to work & the police car was passing me & put his lights on & stopped me) but they let me off 😊.... Just brought an Unagi E500😊

It's because it's classed as an electric vehicle and it doesn't have pedals...so needs insurance but you can't get insurance for them. But that begs the question, why are mobility scooters allowed on the road if these aren't?

the rules so stupid. my E bike (legal) will stop assisting me at 15mph but I can carry on pedaling at 20+ easily. My tri bike will do 45mph! But my scooter won't go over 15 and weighs less than both the others.....I know which one I'd want to be bumped into by!

I have a rule that if I’m going the same speed I can run at, I’ll deem the risk low enough to not bother. Above that speed, or where the law requires it, happy to use a helmet. 👍🏼

Not sure if u covered it as I did not watch all the video. You do realise that they are illegal to use in public. You can have it seized and be fined £300 and get points on your licence by police. They are a waste of money ATM until the government change the legislation.

They are illegal - because the law is stupid. Luckily, the reality is a) most cops are not complete morons and will ignore you and b) my route to the gym uses no main roads - I have NEVER seen a cop out and about on that trip. So the risk of a fine is about 10 times less than the risk of getting hit by a "legal" car!

The Unagi ES500 (dual motor) scooter is TERRIBLE compared to my Xiaomi. Forgetting the price difference of Xiaomi costing a fraction of the Unagi. The only plus on it is that it climbs hills much better than the Xiaomi. The minuses are (1) feels much heavier than Xiaomi, (2) very rough ride to the point of unbearable when going on NYC roads (Xiaomi doesn’t have suspension but its inflated tires absorb most small cracks in the road), (3) no cruise control (in a $1000 scooter?), (4) no drum brake? (I really like Xiaomi’s dual braking feature when it activates both electronic & drum brake when you press the drum brake). The “no cruise control” and the “real rough ride” is a deal breaker for me so I’m returning it after 1 day of commuting with it. I’m going to look at UScooter GT/TWOW - everyone keeps raving about it! I’m really looking for a Xiaomi that would fly up hills like the Unagi and be as light as possible.

I think all the points you have made are fairly spot on, however, in terms of durability, I don’t know if Xiaomi has better quality. In the US, the Unagi are also sold through Best Buy, which often do discounts, before Christmas, Best Buy had the E500 with $200 off and now they have E350 with $300 off, making it more affordable. The SF roads and streets are very bumpy and plenty of potholes, but in the streets of Australia, the roads are very smooth. Again, these scooters are really only designed for the last mile commute between the train station and workplace or home.
