Yay! Just picked mine up today after ten months waiting. I was offered it on the leather strap 3 months ago but held out for the bracelet 😀. The rivets are not to everyone’s taste but are part of the homage as the early oyster bracelets were riveted. Anyway the BB 58 is lovely and well worth the wait. Thanks for the review. Subbed

Nice review. The 58 is by far my favorite Tudor right now, because unlike the rest it isn't so thick and slab sided. It has what the Submariner used to have, the durability and practicality of a dive watch, combined with the elegance and sophistication of something dressier.

I believe the "waiting list" on this watch is somewhat a scarcity tactic more than truth. At my preferred AD I tried the original 58 and the navy version, both on the bracelet. I ended up opting for the 58 Navy. They only had the leather strap versio so I paid a deposit and was on the list. Less than a week and I get the call. Both the black and navy 58 are incredible looking watches.
@anderprescha42034 жыл бұрын
Hi guys! Love the way you do this show. Just one remark on the review. In the age of laser-precision design tools, I would argue that the fact the lugs don't fit the bracelet seamlessly is pure intent, and with good reason: the Black Bay Fifty-Eight is said to have been inspired by the 1958 Tudor Submariner Ref. 7924 (and the Rolex Submariner 6538), which both show this charming characteristic.

Seem to be in the minority and actually like the rivets. Could do with a bit more adjustment on the clasp. 1 more micro adjustment away from perfection for me.

Bugster987 micro adjust is just so simple not sure why it’s not always packed into the otherwise decent clasp

"Vintage feel, without the vintage worry." THANK YOU! That's exactly how I feel about a submariner. I can buy a sub, but I hate the new case. I dont have a problem buying an older sub but the bracelets scare me. Especially the hollow end links.. no thanks..
@tootcliff4 жыл бұрын
Have had this watch for just about a year. Beautifully made. Great performing watch. Only complaint is the SS bracelet - not for the reasons mentioned here... the lugs and fake rivets... But for the lack of adjustment. Only has 3 holes on the clasp. Rolexes have 6-7 holes for great micro adjustments. I cant quite get a perfect fit. Too tight or too loose. I switched to a Nato for greater comfort.

@wizardskills5 жыл бұрын
The end links not fitting flush with the lugs is my only issue with this watch. They could have easily been made to fit so it must have been a deliberate decision by Tudor. The only reason I can think that they made them like that was to mimic the look of vintage hollow end links.
@clockbait5 жыл бұрын
Wiz that’s the only reason we could think of too, shame really!
@thecritter55894 жыл бұрын
This is on my short list, the bronze variant is VERY tempting. I have the wrist (198 MM) to pull off this size and up to about 44-45 mm. I think I would have already picked up one of these if the bezel were ceramic. I tend to be kind of hard on watches (though I try not to be) so a ceramic bezel would really be nice for me. Does Tudor offer such? I remember looking at Tudor watches during the eighties and really liking the line then but nowadays they have really stepped up their style game....they are definitely the more adventurous side of Rolex. I really like the clean date-less dial here. To me the less complicated a watch is the more beautiful it is...a date window does not ruin this watch by any means but man is it lovely as presented. I would have to have it with the bracelet and also pickup one of the weathered looking Tudor leather straps too. Oh and subbed too!!
@clockbait4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the sub! Agreed it would be nice with ceramic but at the same time I think the painted bezel probably suits it’s look more. I think even if you did manage to scratch the bezel it’d still suit the look of the watch. I’m yet to scratch a painted bezel and I’m harsh on my watches too
@bobbydazzler17805 жыл бұрын
Rose on the crown and shield on the dial is a mystery. Surely the vintage rose throughout. Having a Sub I’d have to go vintage leather strap otherwise that cheap faux rivet job without on-the-fly adjustment would just disappoint and bug me senseless. Seems like a cracking daily beater.

Great video guys. Interesting about the lume plot size on the 58 vs the GMT. I'm confused how watch buying 101 is to buy it on a strap though? On nato it's 3300 USD, on bracelet its 3625. And if you order the bracelet separate they want like $850. For me, i'm a bracelet guy, I always buy watches on a bracelet because quality natos and leather straps are cheap. Finding a bracelet second hand is tough or you have to go aftermarket, where everything fits like garbage. Curious to hear your rationale!

SevenW25 V I do love the snowflake hands but I’d prefer Mercedes hands as they’re just more fitting

I’m on the opposite, I love the snowflake and dislike the Mercedes hands. Hence why I have a BB58 and a OP39. But that is why we buy what we love...

A watch review where the watch isn’t shown on wrist is like a TV review where the TV isn’t turned on. Pointless.

@@clockbait I'd rather win the bracelet for the BB58. I just got it on the leather which is nice but I think it's a bracelet-watch :)

Watch On haha! You’re not missing anything with the bracelet. Then rivets 🤢

@@clockbait I'm not a fan of the rivets either. Thankfully everything else about the BB58 is great.

Really want you guys to kick the shit out of patina. Come on wants watches to be crusty and shit. I don't get it custard lime my arse. Watch antiques roadshow when stuff is fucked the value goes down. Yet the watch world now says if its fucked and a tropical dial Is awesome. What is going on.
