Even though this is a 2021 model, you can see the few mild updates for 2022 like a new ST-Line trim, a power bump for a couple trims, etc. What do you think of this XLT trim considering it's lower starting price and abundant available options?

I have the 2.3l eco boost. I’m not a racer but I’ve been dusting v6 and v8 all day. This big @ss suv feels likes a sports car. For the trim level xlt is like the mixture between luxury and sport. Even the wheels are pretty wide compared to others. I have the 18” which makes the ride way more smoother than the larger size wheels. The explorer is my first Ford vehicle. I started with the 2018 and was impressed then upgraded to the 2020 and must say it is a big difference with the switch from front wheel to rear wheel. Feels like a race car

It’s funny reading these comments. Cars suck in certain ways and this one has faults. So you spend $43,000-$47,000 on this car when you could’ve gone with a 3 series BMW or 24k on Ford Fusion (which is nice in its own way). I own this exact car with this trim. It’s fine. It’s a little loud for my taste. I’ve not had issues with the transmission because as he stated he doesn’t usually drive it daily like that (it’s because the car learns how you usually drive). I was in a hurry one day to make an appointment and the throttle/transmission or whatever seemed weird for a day or two but was completely fine after. If you’re shopping for a new car in this price range you will be satisfied. The engine does sound strained on hard acceleration but this is why you buy cars new because some people flog engines to death. The vehicle is nice and adequate.

I just saw a vid of a beautiful Lincoln Zephyr (in China), and it got me to thinking; GM & Ford seem to favor China & Europe more than the USA (Ford has a very nice Ford Focus ST in Europe) and Buick Has released a 2.0t Le Cross in China (a few yrs ago). I know those two companies said that they stopped making cars here because of the lack of demand, is it me but it seems like Americans are always on their back burners when it comes to their really cool/special products & we just get their profit makers.

I like the Kia Sorrento SX way better, but looking for a fuel sipper, Hybrid models. The only way I'd buy the Explorer is used with an extended warranty, not paying $45K, I'd pay $30K.

unless you want a 10 year old one with a 100k miles you wont. 17s with 40k miles are selling mid 30s rn. sorento is alot smaller. the telluride is more similar in size. those are great cars if you could buy them for msrp they would be a great value. sadly there is a 10k markup on them and you will be fighting to get one or wait a 8 months on it if you order it.

its not very sluggish since it has twin turbos. same engine ranger bronco and mustang. of the midsized suvs besides the v8 offerings from mopar its the only one that has over 300 ft lbs of torque.

$45K buys you a 4-cylinder Ford Explorer.....LOL. There are plenty of other better choices in this price range.

i bought one. tbh the tt 2.3 10 speed would dust any v6 suv i drove. i tried out about all of them. i tried out a durango, telluride, highlander, pathfinder, 4 runner and acadia. i was under 40k for mine as its just the xlt and 4wd. i didnt opt for the 202a package or anything. it was also the cheapest i could get a suv this size. kia had a 10k markup over msrp at every lot i contacted in about 4 states and everyone else was over 40k. its the same engine thats in the bronco ranger and mustang so its pretty capable.

@@jeffreyrigged Most 4-cyl turbo charged engines these days will smoke a naturally aspirated V6 or V8. But there is more to an engine than beating someone from 0 to 60. You did get a very good deal on the Explorer though.

@@bohan9957 i mean ive not had a instance where it didnt do good with the 2.3. it tows well never seems strained. there is no lag whatsoever unlike alot of turbos ive owned. i dont know how well 4wd works on it yet since its summer. it did ok in mud the other day on dirt road i was on. you can get a base model explorer for 36k with 4wd. its pretty well equipped for that price too. sync 3 comes in all of them as well as all power options. we opted for the xlt cause the wife wanted a color only available on it and the black interior. i think with xlt you get a few odds and ends like heated seats up front a roof rack fold down armrest in second row if you get the bench etc.... but they are pretty much the same minus that. fuel mpg is about the same as most others. it probably does better straight highway but on hills or around town its about comparable to anything else this size.

I think the explorer is a little to pricy especially for this XLT trim which is equivalent to a palisade limited and that’s basically run trim below the calligraphy. Then again it’s a RWD based vehicle and RWD based vehicles tend to she more expensive from the start. I think this is better off as a fleet vehicle along with the XL. Or maybe a rental car. Me personally I would choose the ST because I want the 400 hp and the luxury.

Bad powertrain and dated infotainment system, doesn't worth the price 👎👎

Crap car! Cheap plastic all over the interior, bad fittings, laggy infotainment, miss very basic things like standard adaptive cruise control on the XLT, no temperature display other than the main screen so it gets on the way if you are using navigation. Also no sound alert for blind spot, no automatic wipers. Will kick myself everyday for the next three years since it’s a lease. Good thing is I would have to sell it at the end.

It’s an entry level trim remember? Infotainment looked responsive. Really need to see the temp all the time? Looks like it’s displayed on the dash. Audible warning for blind spot monitoring would be maddening in rush hour traffic or freeway travel. Adaptive cruise is an option, as well as rain sensing wipers. Seems like you purchased the wrong trim, not a fault of the manufacturer

Please just talk about the key fob the whole time. Nobody cares about this car. Get a Genesis or Tesla or 1984 Yugo convertible but not this.
