Cancer care has made tremendous strides of the last few decades. With new technologies and advancements in treatment, people that have been diagnosed are living longer than ever. However, there is a huge part of cancer patient treatment that has been unexplored and under appreciated. What about the emotional and mental well-being of those going through cancer treatment? In this talk Cort Davies explores the science beyond fighting cancer and why we should also be focusing on the mental health of those in treatment. Cort Davies is an author, producer, and cancer thriver who, through his experiences, has set out to change the paradigm around the way we see and experience cancer. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I practiced three things in overcoming my cancer and you cover two in your talk. I nourished my cells with better food, I destressed and visualized positive outcomes through meditation and I used what ever support was out there along with a supportive family. It worked well and I’m cancer free today I’m creating a program similar to yours to help get the word out Congrats on your outcomes thus far You are right on! I live in rural CT and now wonder what little hospital advised you of that test you needed. Best of luck in the future.

I have always noticed the link between stress and cancer...I remember when I heard that Christopher Reeves wife/caretaker passed away of cancer shortly after he died, after having been his caretaker for a very long time. I felt then that her immune system was strained due to not resting her body and it finally took its toll. :(

I have no doubt that her stress played a role. Have seen it happen in my own life and in the lives of others I've known.

Joann Leonard An important and wise talk. I am convinced my cancer was caused at in major part by the extreme unremitting stress I underwent for months prior to my cancer diagnosis. I could feel very clearly that the stress was somehow damaging me, but when one thing eased up a bit another stressor took it's place, and on and on it went. I tried to relax and even tried meditation, but I felt trapped and could not seem to break free. I am now finally to undergo good treatment tailored for me, and also get help in meditation so the drugs will work for me. Thank you so much Cort, for your talk and your plans for the future.

The Mulberry Centre in London has been doing exactly that for cancer patients for several years and their service is free. The results have been phenomenal; still, so few people are aware of them.

Strange how nothing is mentioned about Corporations and the job stress they create for especially Americans. All forms of distressing advice depends on our actions and not the real stresses in our lives, our career stress we have no defense against.

🎄🎁🍛🍷thank you, what a helpful and informative video. I believe stress can be avoided by being conscience of what we do for a living and the choices we daily like do we exercise, do we take time to laugh and what kinds of foods we eat. Eliminating stress before it could develop into cancer is priceless, we can start or Continue by keeping a grateful attitude, develop a spiritual life, pray for yourself and others, do some form of exercise like meditation, running and develop a helpful attitude as caring for someone or many people helps in releasing feel good hormones because you help someone have a better day and gabe them hope. Do avoid debts of all kind, cut up all credit cards, and avoid all kinds of relationships that drain and stress you and make you sick. Merry Christmas 🎄 and a happy new year to everyone. 🎁🎄🎶🎨🎉🎁🎄🎶🎨💝🎉🎁🎄🎶🎨💝🎉🎁🎄🍹🍸☕🎶🎁🎄🎉🎁🎄

Didn´t watch the video yet, but among all the things you have just rightly said I would point out the most important one: to dare to change to get the life you really want. Very often we don't live as we would like to. ¡¡Isn`t it more stress than that!!

You really wonder why salmon? I’ve had cancer since 28 I’m 33 now about to hit 5 years I was a RN kniw a thing or two I spent much time doin research EVERYTIME I asked for things that made sense it was instantly Shut down ... yea, now new dr met once bc my dr who was considered the best chairman u nm it cannot practice in NY anymore.. hmmm I was told a few things but it’s all about POLITICS money so yea, this guy is great but bringing his message on air ? Awesome but, it’s now in “ their “control .. it’s ridiculous the things I could say would LOVE to give a speech.. would blow ppls socks off ❤️🙌.. slowly I’m making small strides but it’s my purpose with positivity bc what he is saying is absolutely true. Our brains and feels HAVE almost everything to do with cancer and survival and you can literally feel tumors move when your stressed . DIS-EASE

An atheist shares his journey: Today's sabertooth tiger is ......stress. 😏 It's too bad he didn't encounter the God he rejects along his cancer battle. Limited insight, limited wisdom. In addition, he attributes stress to almost all of our diseases and ailments; Wow, such a claim to make. I listened to an endocrinologist on KZbin recently that said 'Processed food disease' (namely sugar as the primary culprit) is the reason for 70% of the cancer that is out there. Hmm, is it stress? Is it sugar? Is it a combination of different variables? 🤔
