NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for medical advice. We’ve flagged this talk, which was filmed at a TEDx event, because it appears to fall outside TEDx’s content guidelines. This talk contains sweeping claims about cancer and emotion that are uncorroborated by scientific evidence. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give organizers are described in more detail here: storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t...
Professor David Khayat, former president of the french national cancer institut, describes the relationship between sadness, uncontrolled stress and the risk to developp a malignant disease. He tells us what could be the mechanisms at the basis of that relationship.
He gives also some advice on how to work on that risk of having a cancer, which affect today one men out of two and one woman out of three.
Parisian Professor David Khayat is the expert in the field of cancer prevention. In 2010, after having conducted scientific research on this topic for over 30 years, he stirred up France with the launch of his book The Real Anti-Cancer Diet. On the 13th of June, David will discuss the effects healthy eating habits have on cancer prevention. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

the note at the top saddens me.... I very much believe in what this talk is saying.... with cancer we need a strong will to survive also as a cancer suffer myself I have identified that I have many adverse childhood events if you look at this it shows the relationship between this and chronic dis ease.... being abused as a child my immune system was broken down by stress this led to extreme sadness in adulthood I have said from the beginning of my diagnosis that it comes from childhood trauma. thank you for this talk it reminds me to be happy now regardless of my fate

I strongly believe that being in stress and saddened it can cause cancer as I myself have gone through sadness and stress being in a very bad marriage relationship. I am in remission for now but I do wonder whether the cancer will return back because I am still in the same relationship due to cultural reasons.

The Bible says to cast all of our cares on Jesus because He cares for us. If I didn't have faith that God loves me and is in control of my life the stress of going through stage 4 cancer on top of life's problems would bring despair. That peace is beyond understanding and the joy I get from it gives me strength no matter what.

thanks for sharing. I think they have found that stress does NOT have to be ready to die for it to already effect cancer patients though from healing. It does have big impact, just like foods.

Thank you, Dr. Khayat, for your important observations and your hypothesis, but please give credit to Geerd Hamer who made the connection between cancer and emotional trauma many years ago (and, as far as I know, was thoroughly harassed for it by the medical community) and has made some extensive and detailed observatoins on this subject. I may not agree to all of his teachings, but we should all be fair and honest enough to give him credit for being the first (?) to observe the connection between cancer and sudden loss or other emotional traumas.
