Have you heard about the SIBIONICS CGM?
I love that we’re seeing more CGMs being approved. We are all different and I think it’s important that we have several choices when it comes to the tech that can help us manage our blood sugars.
But, the big question whenever a new product is approved is always; Is it worth the investment?
To help answer that question I wore 2 SIBIONICS CGMs, for a total of 28 days, and this is my completely unbiased review.
Remember this is my experience wearing SIBIONICS, yours might be different.

Good show! Looking forward to your review of the Dexcom Stelo. One can buy insulin without a prescription, one should be able to buy a CGM without one too.

This was a great review Christel. Seeing all of the comparisons was helpful. Thank you. The two most important CGM features to me are accuracy and warm up time. So far I am very happy with Dexcom G7.

Hi… I’m new to GCMs so THANK YOU for all great information! One thing I haven’t heard you mention, do any of these apps provide a way to write notes on the data points? Thanks again!
@DiabetesStrong

Thanks. Yes, some of them do. With SIBIONICS you can add a written comment for food, exercise, medicine, insulin, and mood. Dexcom G7 has a "Note" where you can write about whatever you want

i tried it as well and i also found the readings a bit low. on the second day they where about 30 too low and after that it normalized. however, i used it to just track the response to certain food and drinks and for that it was useful enough. which at the end leading me to optimize my diet to high fat carnivore.

i saw one of your old videos about how you don’t like insulin pumps. have you tried an insulin patch? i use the “cequr simplicity” insulin patch. i love it. you wear it for 3 days, and it is only for meal-time insulin and any between-meal corrections. you still have to take basal insulin by pen, but that is no big deal. have you tried an insulin patch?
@DiabetesStrong
@DiabetesStrong 3 ай бұрын
I love the idea of the CeQur patch. But it would have to be able to give less than 2 units at a time for me to use it (I already gave them that feedback). But overall my issue with pumps isn’t the technology, it’s the insulin. Until we have insulin that works fast, more like the pancreas-produced stuff, I don’t know if a pump will be for me. My issue was having to deal with rapid-acting insulin 24/7

I did same tests as you, and had similar outcomes: (Iwas comparing with dexcom G6) The Sibionics reading was systematically lower. After 5 days, it stopped working.: no more signal. I have not yet tried the second sensor yet. I intended to fingerpick about every 3 hours to have as much data to compare them head-to-head (inserting both sensors at the same time) Other limitation: no apple watch integration, no Tidepool integration, no integration with apple health either. I requested API developer documentation and never had a reply. It's good to see competition though.

I have 2 different ones right now. A Livongo meter which is very large and slow but my insurance covers strips 100% and a small inexpensive meter I found at CVS (can also be bought at Walmart) called True Metrix Go

I'm on the Medtronic mostly because that's what my Endocrinologist suggested. A young woman here on the Boobtube was with Medtronic and recently changed to the Omnipod with Dexcom. She said it was a nightmare making it happen as far as dealing with her insurance company. The American Diabetes Association is a joke if they can't even fix this horrible reality. They can't push the government to tell the private health insurance companies that they should make getting access to the technology as easy as possible? There ought to be a law! As if having Diabetes isn't already enough of a time consuming burden. Give diabetics what they need to keep themselves as healthy as possible for as long as possible. Death to the bean counters! That means the insurance company crooks that care more about the short term profits than helping to keep their customers healthy long term.

Yeah, unfortunately, we're at the mercy of our insurance companies when it comes to coverage. Especially if your endo isn't up for taking them on with you

I was prescribed a Libre 2 on May 6, 2023. It took Medi Care so long to approve it that I did not receive my first cgm until November 15, 2023. And I battled with them the whole time. Senior Citizen Medicine is not easy here in the States.

Okay, I have a question for my fellow diabetics. Does anyone know if you can wear a CGM in a tanning bed. Not trying to sound shallow 😑
@DiabetesStrong
@DiabetesStrong 3 ай бұрын
I don't think that should be an issue. I haven't worn one in a tanning bed but I've been laying out in the sun. Only thing is that it'll give you some funky tan lines

My concern or caveat with all these is the wastefulness of the applicator. There's no reason the pairing code couldn't be printed on the sensor. Then you could just LOAD the sensor, lock and load the applicator. I hate throwing these thing in the recycle bin when we could keep using it.

Glucometers can be that far off legally as well. 20 points is acceptable. And the more rapidly glucose is changing, the further off sensor glucose will be from blood glucose.
