Nuclear weapons are triggered by a specific electrical signal. A detonation by conventional, chemical explosives is extremely unlikely to trigger the right signal. Like, shooting a bullet at your computer's power button would be unlikely to turn it on. Unfortunately, such a damaged nuke would be far more likely to start emitting radiation in lethal doses.

You're right thay it take specific circumstances to trigger a nukes but what you use is actually an explosion to trigger the implosion. It just got to be a very specific explosion. The electric signal is just to trigger the first explosion.

First Class is such a nice contrast to the 2000s films, feel like by being set in the 1960s the director felt more comfortable embracing the more colourful X-Men outfits while also going for a whole differant tone that captures the light-heartedness of the 1960s X-Men comics while still being serious at the same time. it's my personal favourite X-Men film in terms of the tone, Days of Future Past being my favourite overall. Only thing that could've made this film even better was if it featured the original X-Men #1 (1963) members that being Cyclops, Jean Grey as Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman, and Angel. It's kind of having The Avengers but without Iron Man y'know but regardless I still liked the line-up of the film and it explored some lesser known Mutants like Havok (Brother of Cyclops) and Banshee. Hopefully you watch X-Men 97 (2024) down the line as it's amazing. Best X-Men project to date, best thing Marvel has released since Infinity War.

Like you said, the cuban missile crisis was a very real thing and the point where we were the closest to nuclear war. The closest moment was when a soviet submarine armed with nuclear torpedos thought that war had begun and the captain and political officer want to launch the nukes in retaliation. Fortunately Vasili Arkhipov, the chief of staff of the brigade refused to launch them without direct orders from Moscow. If he hadn't been on that submarine, history would have been very different

Just an FYI, the origins and backgrounds in this are pretty much all just for these movies. Just so you don't base too much on it if you watch something else about the X-Men, like the X-Men '97 show (Which you should absolutely watch, it's great). There is back and forth between stuff like the comics, and the movies, where things that started in the movies got added to the comics, and other things, but overall they are separate and won't always apply to each other.

Hey, Sessis! After the original trilogy, the story rewinds to tell two prequel tales about Wolverine in 1979 and Xavier in 1962 before resuming where we left off with "THE WOLVERINE". Make sure you see the EXTENDED EDITION of "THE WOLVERINE" next and be aware of the END-CREDIT SCENE that leads into "DAYS OF FUTURE PAST". Matthew Vaughn not only captured the '60's era but integrated real history into X-Men lore with the Cuban Missile Crisis much like the Three-Mile Island nuclear reactor meltdown was incorporated into "X-Men Origins". The historical context, the back stories and the casting were phenomenal! The franchise was moribund after the third entry's lack of fidelity to classic source material and the wildly uneven Wolverine origin movie but this film injected fresh energy and blood into the franchise. It still veered dramatically from comic book accuracy despite the Grant Morrison-style uniforms and Nazi hunting sequences but it capitalized, as all X movies do, on the powerful duality of Charles and Erik. James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender are as amazing as Charles and Erik as Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen were! Jennifer Lawrence becomes the focus of the young cast films due to her "Hunger Games" popularity much like Hugh Jackman was the focus of the old cast films. Red demon guy Azazel is Nightcrawler's father! Although nothing like Sebastian Shaw in the comics, Kevin Bacon is a vicious villain in this. I liked Oliver Platt's sympathetic character and felt terrible he had such a small role to play. The acknowledgement of the first trilogy with cameos by Rebecca Romijn out of Mystique make-up and Hugh Jackman's hilarious barroom rebuff was a real treat. Emma Frost was a real let-down because her comic book iteration is dynamic and complex although it was through no fault of January Jones. Even though Silverfox's sister had diamond skin in "Origins" like Emma, they are two separate characters owing to the franchise's many continuity issues. X-Men ally Moira MacTaggart is re-introduced by Rose Byrne playing a younger version of the character originated by Olivia Williams in the crucial end-credit scene to "X3: The Last Stand". The paunchy, gray-haired spook mimicked by Mystique during Charles' CIA interview and who authorizes the strike on the beach despite Moira's presence is none other than William Stryker, Sr., the father of Wolverine's tormentor, William Stryker! The origins of these characters and the schism between them is absolutely fascinating. This is the only movie that is the same in all three X-Men timelines and is the chronological starting point for the whole cinematic X-Men universe. There is no X-Men movie that doesn't entertain on some level including the duds. This is one of the richer ones. X-MEN TIMELINES: Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP --> Origins ------------------------------------------------> X1 --> X2 --> X3 --> Wolverine -------> New Mutants ----------------------> Logan Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP ----------------> Apocalypse --> Dark Phoenix ------------------------------------------------> Deadpool --> Deadpool 2 -----> DOFP Utopia Egypt --> 1845 --> Nagasaki --> First Class --> DOFP -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> DOFP Dystopia Do NOT watch the films in release order!!!! This recommended order keeps the multiple timelines orderly and concludes the saga with two strong films rather than with two less well-received entries. The EXTENDED CUT of "THE WOLVERINE" is the next film returning the viewer to the post-"Last Stand" landscape! RECOMMENDED VIEWING ORDER: X-Men X2: X-Men United X3: The Last Stand X-Men Origins: Wolverine X-Men: First Class The Wolverine: Extended Cut X-Men: Days of Future Past: The Rogue Cut X-Men: Apocalypse X-Men: Dark Phoenix Deadpool New Mutants Logan Deadpool 2

29:00 "I would not have guessed that Mystique and Prof X were so close." That's because it's BS. It's not in the comics. Each movie, they added more and more BS, until nothing makes sense. And when a big actress was cast to play Mystique, they added more BS down the line just to put her front and centre. So the previous movies obviously couldn't predict the new BS that the new movies would invent. 1) Mystique is *NOT* Charles's childhood friend / sister. 2) Mystique is *NOT* Erik's girlfriend / ex. 3) Mystique is *NOT* Magneto's subordinate / minion (she and Magneto were the leader of the Brotherhood at different times, never together in the same team). 4) Mystique is *NOT* Charles's and Erik's age. In fact, she's waaaay older, her full name is Raven Darkhölme, and over a century ago was known as Sherlock Holmes. 5) Mystique is the birth mother (father, after the retcon) of Nightcrawler. They don't have a close relationship, though, since she abandoned him when he was a baby. 6) Mystique is also, ironically, Rogue's adoptive mother. They do have a close relationship, that should have been explored in the movies rather than the made up ones.

The issue with Charles is he wants him and Raven to be parti with the human world, in the human ways. The issue with Erick is he MANY TIMES punishes people that are completely innocents. I the next movies is clear that both influence each other. Charles becomes more realistic and Erick way more calm and slowly gets apreciation for some humans and sees that Charles ways are not just the right ones but the ones that assures less mutant and human cassualties.

I understand both, agneto and Charles, both see both sides of equation. and about "following orders" its easy to say "i would follow my morals" but specially if u are under a heavy hierarchy where unsubordination is payed sometimes with life, or even ur family can suffer the consequences, i couldnt blame soldiers for just keeping shutted up. If u really have an option and no consequence for not following an order, then yes, ethics goes first. But i understand people watching over them family first, for example. Its just unfair saying they are equally guilty.

@@Sessis Don't let such talk worry you. In my opinion, it's massively overblown. Those who gripe seem to just be looking for something to complain about, especially if they view the comics' stories as sacrosanct. If you have a very logical mind and consider just the movies, most of their Story will hang together with only minor glitches (because the creators' didn't have a crystal ball). If instead you approach things as an artist, then all you need to do is think of each film as a new artist's riff on the same beloved characters. (No one complains that the depictions of Santa Claus aren't all identical, after all!) Human storytelling comes from a long line of improvisational tales told around the campfire that no smoke-shrouded listener ever expected to be identical; the idea that there must be some sort of self-consistent canon is a modern conceit.
